  1. I'm in the deep south, but a kind thought and I thank you for it. Many thanks to everyone for the info. John
  2. My R3 has 204/45 x 16s. I've seen winter tyre/wheel combos offered as 195/55 x 15 on 6J rims. Has anyone fitted 15s? The front discs look so big I wonder if there'd be a problem with them fouling the smaller wheels. John
  3. Mine (1.9TDI) has been doing it for the past four years or so. I have a dry PTFE spray, used on things such as printer carriages where no mess can be tolerated. I gave a very short spray into the 'cracks' on each side of the rotary section of the pedal switch; for the past 400 miles, success (touch wood)! John
  4. Throttle controls sometimes stick. Next time it happens put your toe under the pedal and pull it up. You won't feel any movement but see if that sorts it. Solution is a new control, but being an inveterate fixer (rather than changer) one day I'm going to take mine off and see if it neds a clean and lube. John
  5. For some time now I have had a problem where, about two seconds after selecting reverse, there is a loud bleep from the nearside A pillar and the system shuts down. During the recent dry spell (anyone remember it?!) the system behaved faultlessly and is now playing up again, so I suspect an insulation problem somewhere. I thought I would start with the sensors themselves, but it appears I shall have to drop the bumper unless they can be removed from outside. Has anyone done this? Any useful ideas greatly appreciated. John
  6. I suppose mine is averaging about once a week. I'll have a dig in the boot today to see how many connectors I can find; bad connections are, after all, the cause of the vast majority of electronic faults.
  7. Mostly when it's dry; but it hasn't happened for a week so fingers crossed . . . John
  8. My Roomster 3 has the mimic diagram appear on the radio display when reverse is selected. On a few occasions recently, when I engage reverse there is the usual short bleep, the diagram appears, and almost immediately there is a loud beep from somewhere the nearside B pillar and the diagram disappears. The sensors all appear to be OK. Anyone else experienced this, please? John
  9. It may be suspension: I get a loud-ish groan when crossing the first speed hump. After that it's OK. John
  10. There is a very well-known problem caused by VAG putting the window control module on the top of the driver's door window motor, where it is simply asking to get wet - Honest John in a recent Daily Telegraph John
  11. If you can see two headlamp bulbs (per side!) they are definitely NOT cornering. When I bought my Roomster the option was "Curve projector headlamps" which I think included the foglamps. At speeds lower than 18mph the appropriate side foglamp lights on steering or indicator use. John
  12. My Roomster3 hasn't had an alarm problem in four years. That includes, on occasion, isolating the interior sensors ("dog switch"). Sensible money on your problem is a fault. John
  13. Disable the deadlocks by pressing the keyfob button twice. John
