  1. It's just started with no bother at all... 🙄 All suggestions appreciated though
  2. I guess that's the next logical step. Thank you.
  3. Blimey! Thanks for that.
  4. Thank you for your replies. The saga goes on! The earth strap was identified as an issue and has been fixed. Drove it to the shop. No problem. Tried the next day. One tick, nothing, then it started on the 4th twist. Now it's dead again. I bloody love this car and this is driving me nuts! Some random dude suggested there might be 2 earths? Is that correct?
  5. The mechanic said the solenoid was incorporated in the starter, so therefore would have been changed???
  6. Hello, I've got a 2009 VRS and it has a starting gremlin. Long story short, it will bump but won't start on its own 90% of the time. Battery is fresh and charging when the engine is running. Starter has been swapped twice! Otherwise it runs fine. Garage assures me all wiring has been checked thoroughly. It makes one "tick" sound then silence. Anyone had anything similar???

Hi, I was recommended to the site by the previous owner of my car, but have only just got round to signing up. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't (partially, at least) to pick your collective brains...I'm currently 400 miles from home and the damn thing has broken down... ...but it would be rude not to introduce myself before I beg for help! I spent a chunk of my working life in a Diesel Octavia and it started to feel very much like home so, when I was looking for a car, an Octavia was top of the list. I wondered if the budget would stretch to a VRS...I am mostly a biker so I do enjoy a cheeky bhp or two. I then found a VRS that had been expertly tinkered with and...well...it was love at first opportunity to floor the bugger. I do enjoy cleaning it (far more than I do my bikes), it's spotless inside and out, and I've named it Zippy ðŸĪŠ
