  1. So it looks like me posting my Columbus out of the country (Ireland) is going to cost an arm and a leg to get the NAND reset. (€40+) this really leaves me three choices, pay the exorbitant postage plus what ever the repairer charges for their work and of course the return postage. (Most of the way there to paying for a brand new unit) buy a 2nd hand replacement from ebay etc (not keen on this as you dont know if it has issues, or whether its even up to date) buy a brand new android unit that would give me the additional features and up to date maps that I would like. I am sure there many that have replaced their units with android devices so looking for recommendations. Must haves independent SATNAV (not driven by mobile phone) Plenty of storage as much compatibility as possible with the cars wiring and electronics (simple install no loss of existing functions), no hacks to cars existing wiring loom or electronics. Onboard diagnostics display would be a HUGE bonus. I don't have a apple phone (and never will) so not looking for anything to do with IOS or carplay
  2. Thanks for the quick reply So what does that mean for me? Is this something that only a dealer can fix? Or is this software available to us mere mortals?
  3. Just bought a Skoda Superb MkII Elegance (2011) for my father. Everything is perfect except the Columbus Navigation unit which appear to be stuck in German. Have gone through the menus (wit the help of google translate)) and tied to set it to English, but it comes back with language could not be loaded. Tried to change it to other languages to see if it was a issue specific to English and same error. Tried a soft reset by pushing the three buttons on the unit and no joy. Then went to system menu and tried to reset to factory defaults which seemed to have no effect. While also in the setup menu I tried to reset all items in the list and that did not work. Then tried each item in the list individually and same result Next I downloaded and updated the firmware to 5238a and this appears to have worked. I repeated all the steps above and got the same results. At this point I have no idea what is happening or how to even start to fix this issue. Initially I thought it was a firmware or software issue but surely the firmware update should have fixed that. I have no idea of whether the hard drive storage is full or any obvious way to see what's on it, but this might be a possibility Any help or advice would be very much appreciated
