  1. If anyone would like a modified (DPF removed) downpipe from an Octi VRS-PD please get in touch. I have one sitting in my shed Looking at it, it could be apadted to fit other cars too...
  2. You can buy them from the UK at £215 plus vat inc delivery
  3. At least it's not a Merc. There was a coupe pulled off the road outside my work last week with smoke billowing out from under it - which turned into a nice toasty fire. So at least the Skoda ECU is detecting a problem and letting you get it sorted. Actual DPF failures in Octavias are still very, very rare. When it's in at the dealers make sure it has had the DPF campaign work carries out which consists of a different pressure sensor and an ECU flash upgrade. This action keeps on top of any soot build up in the filter. Good luck
  4. Hi Ben, I PM'd you about a price for a map/STS for a 2009 BMW 530d. How much am I looking at? Thanks, Ali
  5. Hi, PM me if you haven't got this sorted. Ali
  6. My 3GS (updated to IoS4) has the same problem. I just get a single number in my phone book with the name of "." above it. So much for progress. Having looked on the apple discussions site every one with BMWs and Mercs are going mad as the update has screwed everyones handsfree kit up. Oh dear........ TBC
  7. I've got one in my garage, PM me if interested
  8. I agree with PSM, the car should behave fine with the driving style of the OP. If it is not then make sure that the 26E6 campaign update has been carried out (pressure sensor and ECU software update) - if Skoda have realised that there is a problem with the cars then at least we can do our best to make sure that we have the most updated kit fitted - AND it's free!!! If you are having little/no luck with your local dealership then find a local VW/Audi/Skoda specialist. The dealerships are the first to admit that unless the computer tells them how to fix something then they can't do it - especially under warranty. Failing that buy yourself a VCDS (Vagcom) cable that way you can tell/show them whats wrong. I also have the VRS PD and whilst I like to know that the power is there if and when needed, I don't believe in driving like a loon - there is enough of them out there now. I also agree with Dodgy in that there probably are cars available which will return better MPG - BUT they probably won't be a Skoda and thats why we're all here, isn't it?? Driving these cars we need to accept that we are not going to return an average of 60mpg, buying a Renault Modus might get you that but would you enjoy driving it? probably not. I would persevere with the car but it sounds like you need to be a bit more proactive getting to the bottom of the issues - kick some ass! Good luck
  9. Someone can have mine for a fiver if they want it......
  10. I managed to get the DPF off a guy on Ebay although it wasn't the exact part so had to make up a small stainless section - not a problem though. I haven't mapped out the EGR, I don't know enough about that yet. What do you have to physically fit instead? Is there any other problems? Cheers Ali
  11. Was that the average over 19 miles Tom? LOL How's the car running with the DPF off? Your step by step DPF modding guide is really good I'm just going through the motions myself. I can hear the turbo whistling a little more now with the filter material removed. As for JBS I wouldn't trust them if I could throw them!!!!!! I would say De-DPF modding my PD170 has cost approx £250 (including spare DPF pipe and map)
  12. lol, more strain = more fun! You do however have the benefit of knowing that you won't get stung for a £1200++ DPF replacement bill in the future You recommend the mod then?
  13. MPG figures are never as stated unfortunately Why are you worried about your turbo? I'm looking at the Superchips de-DPF bluefin upgrade for £50 and I'll modify a spare DPF. Have you heard anything about the Superchips option? it's not much talked about...?
  14. How has yours been behaving? Any comments/observations?
  15. Also as mentioned above, both Milltek and JBS wrongfully give the impression that JBS are the only company who can successfully DE-DPF the 170 TDI Hmmmm
  16. I'm looking at doing this mod as I have managed to find a couple of DPFs to have a go at - wish me luck!! Has anyone heard any horror stories from any particular tuners - JBS seem to have one for each of them!!?? but they would say that
  17. Superchips also do a DPF delete remap which is available on Bluefin. The only kind of problem is that JBS have the market cornered for the Milltek DPF-delete pipe - apparently they are the only ones who can supply the Milltek pipes (according to Milltek and JBS) One way to get round the problem is to remove the filter element from the pipe/canister which I believe has been done by someone on this forum before. I have managed to find a couple of newish DPF units (BMN engine code) so I'm going to attempt the modification and install the Bluefin map. What I did find a bit off putting was that when I spoke to JBS they were VERY derogatory to all other remappers out there and seemed to have a horror story for any that I mentioned!!! JBS apparently are the ONLY company who can successfully and safely remap the PD engine to remove the DPF. I'm sure that may raise a few eyebrows on here - cheeky beggers!! Any feedback from others that have had it done would be much appreciated
  18. Start with the good points - I cannot knock the aftersales/service department. They have been very helpful with any queries I have sent their way. The guys in the parts department will literally drop everything to try and help you either with things they know about or if you want to try and find a part number from a vague description!! Regarding sales, hmmm. I ended up buying a car from Liverpool as the lady at Telfords was so difficult to deal with. I hope this helps
  19. The grease is not there to improve conductivity between the male and female contacts, it is there to reduce the chance of tracking or leakage across the seperate connectors through an ingress of moisture or even damp air. By filling all the nooks and crannies with di-electric grease there is nowhere for the moisture and indeed air to go. The resistance of the grease should be alot higher than that of water or even air, this should result in a truer MAF signal being received at the ECU. Has anyone greased their ECU connector too? - Oh, another job to do now!!
  20. £795 + VAT is currently the standard price for Briskoda members. This includes seats and door cards. Nappa is a bit more on top. I like the FL Octy VRS seats, a mixture of Nappa and standard leather - no vinyl in sight though
  21. I'm assuming to open the boot with the car unlocked you are pressing the rubber pad above the number plate???? Pressing the middle button on the remote has the same effect as pressing this. If you are pressing this then it could well be that the microswitch behind the rubber pad is damaged or has become disconnected. You should feel a little click as you press it.
  22. I've just spoken to Seat Surgeons, very informative Special price for Briskoda members is £795 + VAT
