  1. Hello All, new here so apologies if my search attempts should've found this among lots of slightly older model discussion: I've a 2024 facelift Octavia Estate First Edition to which I want to fit a towbar (it does have a weight rating, so OK there. It's also towbar-prepared so there's a bumper cutout and I believe wiring to the bootspace but I think that's all). Skoda dealer can now fit these but, blimey, they're pricey ! Asking around it seems that specialist fitters struggle with coding, particularly for this age of car. For example: For 2024 onwards models, It can only be installed to act as a "Read only" wiring kit that doesn't send information back to the vehicle instead so would only work the basic features, will not disable parking sensors or any other features ... The dealership can't code them either, they can only install their own factory supplied kit which is coded differently. My questions, then: Does anyone have experience of trying aftermarket kit on a similar age car and what happened? (specifically, I can live with disabling the reversing brake setting if that's all that I'd lose) Has anyone found an aftermarket kit that WILL play nicely with this car? (Autodoc lists a Jaeger 21500601 kit that's designed for vehicles with parking control so I wonder if it might work - it's listed "for" my car but I don't know how specific that info is. Also talks about "Cable harness contains extra plug for permanent positive, Cable harness contains extra plug for charger cable, Activation of electric set required, Connector in engine compartment" but I wonder if a lot of that relates to it being for cars that are not towbar-prepared. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/jaeger/17153801. I have emailed Jaeger but no idea how long they'll take to respond. Sorry for the rambling post; well done if you reached the end !
