  1. Does any one know if a RHD version will be at the London motor show?
  2. You won't believe it. Yesterday I sat there wit the handbook (no help there) and started fiddling with the seat/mirror program. I have no idea what I did, but it now seems to be sorted, despite me thinking that I had really messed it up at one stage. Thanks for giving me the idea Shergar. Cheers all.
  3. Hi Sebulbus, yes the reverse lights come on. I will try re-setting it. Cheers
  4. Thanks guys. It is in the "L" position. My car is a RHD (UK spec) and this has worked before. Thanks for your answers though. It looks like I have to go to the dealers - oh well!!
  5. Hi folks. I have a 2006 L&K Octy estate (DSG). Absolutely lovely car with a lot of lovely features. One feature that I have grown very fond of is the passenger side door mirror which tilts downwards when Reverse is selected. It stays down until you either switch the car off of you drive away above about 10-15 MPH. I believe that this has been the saviour of my alloys on this car. Alas it has stopped working for some inexplicable reason. Has this happened to anyone else out there? Anyone got any ideas as to what could cause this. It is the second time that this has happenned, and although I am happy to bring it to the dealership, if I can do something on the Maxidot myself it would save a lot of time going to the garage. Looking forward to any replies.
  6. I've had 3 Octavias, 1 Superb (TDis) and one Fabia (petrol). No noticable difference on the diesels. I'm therefore inclined to leave it on all the time - really helps with good all round demisting of windows regardless of the weather conditions. I would consider cruise control to have a bigger impact on economy. I avoid it unless my leg really needs a rest on a long journey.
  7. Thanks for the tip about the handbrake, Runboy. Because guess what!! that's what I had started to do. I'm surprised that the dealers, who are normally very good, didn't tell me this. Having traded an auto against this car, they must have known that I was used to a conventional auto. Anyhow, it's good to know that there is probably nothing wrong with my car.
  8. Thanks for your reply guys - I'm impressed with the speed of this community. Just one question, What is "hill hold"? Is it something that needs to be specified with the car or can it be added?
  9. I'm a little curious reading this thread. I also have an octy 2 (L&K) 1.9 tdi with DSG box. I'm finding that it seems to slide back on hills when pulling away in traffic etc. A bit like a learner driver that hasn't got the hang of hill starts yet. Is this normal or a fault? Any other automatic that I have driven will creep forward or at worst remain stationary on release of the brake pedal. I've only had the car for a few weeks, and admit that I do like it. The gearchange is a lot different to my previous car (Superb tdi auto) but the improved fuel economy and excellent accelleration makes this easy to get used to.
