Hi everyone, I’m a relatively new member here but I’ve been maintaining my 2004 Skoda Octavia Mk2 (1.9 TDI PD) as a "time capsule" with only 21,000 miles. It’s my only car, used for social/domestic/pleasure, and I’m looking for some advice on insuring it as an enthusiast/modern classic. The car has been professionally rust-proofed/Dynaxed by BAS Cherished Cars and has an OEM cruise control retrofit. I am also planning a software-only "hot start" fix via a local specialist before my August renewal. I’m struggling to find a policy that recognises the car’s condition rather than just its book value, and some mainstream insurers are wary of the ECU "hot start" fix, even though it's purely for reliability and not a performance remap. My questions for the community: Are there any specialist brokers you would recommend who are comfortable with "only car" modern classic policies? How do you best declare a "reliability-only" ECU adjustment to avoid it being wrongly flagged as a performance remap? Has anyone had success getting an "Agreed Value" policy for a low-mileage Mk2 Octavia? Any advice on navigating this would be greatly appreciated!
