  1. Ok, picked up a new cover from eBay and that fixed it. I also notice that at the front of the air intake (flat thin clear opening) there seems to be attachment points for a further part between the air intake and the front panel. Can anyone confirm there is a further part needed or maybe direct me to a diagram of the air intake?
  2. The air intake cover on my recently purchased 2010 Scout 1.8tsi keeps falling off. Should there be a filter or something in the chamber underneath? If not, is there any objection to simply glue or tape it down?
  3. Additional - I've checked and according to the VIN it is the 160bhp version of the engine.
  4. Hello I'm currently living in Wales, been here for nearly 30 years, but fairly nomadic before that. Will be moving to Liverpool soon where my Dad was born. I'm 70 and retired, been driving Saabs for the last 16 years, Citroens and all sorts before that. Last Saab (a 93 Convertible) came beyond repair this year, so picked up a 2010 Octavia Scout 18tsi for what I thought was a cheap price of £2000, Really good condition, drives fine. Picked it up out on the Yorkshire flatlands beyond Sheffield, drove it back over the Peaks in a blizzard (the road that comes down through Tintwistle), love it to bits. Really got some poke when you stick your foot down, great handling for the type of car. Sightly clunky controls compared to the Saab, but the two cars were built with different objectives I guess. But I've discovered its downside, the oil consumption. Currently something like 1 liter per 500 miles. I can live with that , and I know there is no easy fix, but a)is it likely to get worse and b) is there anyth8ing I can do about it that will cost less than the car did?
