  1. Hi everyone, Quick update: problem solved! The clunk was caused by a slight movement of the front subframe. I replaced all six subframe mounting bolts with new ones and tightened them to the correct specification. Since then, the clunk has completely disappeared, including during braking, acceleration, reversing and direction changes. I’ve now driven the car in different conditions and everything is quiet and stable. So if you have a similar single clunk when the load changes direction, check the subframe mounting/bolts before replacing expensive parts.
  2. Hi everyone, I have a 2012 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 170 DSG, FWD, 250,000 km, PQ46 subframe; with an annoying clunk from the front, felt mostly through the floor. It happens when accelerating, releasing the throttle, braking or sometimes cornering. It usually clunks once when the load changes direction. I can also reproduce it while driving in N and braking. The clunk is also noticeable at very low speed. For example, when reversing out of a parking space I may get one clunk, then another one when I drive forward again. It can also occasionally happen during a gear change. The problem gets progressively worse after driving a few kilometres. It can be almost absent when starting cold, then becomes more frequent and noticeably stronger after 10–15 km. There are no vibrations while driving, but when the clunk happens, I can clearly feel the knock through my feet/floor. Both front driveshafts have just been replaced with GKN units, with no change at all. DSG/differential and engine mounts have already been checked by workshops. My next suspects are front control arm bushes or subframe movement. Has anyone experienced something similar? Thanks! Xavier, Switzerland
  3. Bonjour à tous! I'm Xavier from Switzerland and a brand-new member of the Skoda world. A few days ago, I bought a beautiful 2012 Skoda Superb Mk2 Laurin & Klement 2.0 TDI 170 PS. The car is in remarkably good condition, both inside and out, and the engine runs great. With only 245,000 km on the clock, it's barely broken in... right? 😄 I'm an amateur mechanic and long-time BMW enthusiast. Over the years I've tackled quite a few jobs myself, including timing chain replacement on BMW engines, suspension work, diagnostics, and general maintenance. Diesel engines, however, are relatively new territory for me. EGR valves, DPFs, regenerations, differential pressure sensors... it's a whole new world compared to the petrol BMWs I'm used to. Thankfully, after reading this forum for a while, I'm sure I'll learn a lot from the experienced members here. My first job on the Superb will be an easy one: replacing the glow plugs. Cylinder #4 is currently showing a fault, so that's where I'll start. Looking forward to learning from you all and sharing my experience with the car. See you around! Xavier
