  1. Eddies, Did you get this solved? I'm having the same problem as well, searching the forums common causes include starter motor and fuel temp sensor. cheers David
  2. Doh, should have read the posts properly. Thanks Jonny5ive. I thought they might be from OE. I've been quoted £119.46 delivered for an octy estate by OE. It's likely I'll go with these but I want to explore the options. It was good to see them both types side by side as well. I don't like buying 'blind' if I can help it. thanks DavidB
  3. Hedge, it was your car that I saw and the silver Fabia next to you, as per Octygone's picture. I liked the finer mesh on your cars shades, but like you say, they are not available for a 51 plate estate (silver). Would you recommend them otherwise? So were the ones on the Fabia from OESunshades? and would you recommend these? The shades we have currently were free from Kiddicare MissP, and like you, our little person soon had them off and in the footwell. So it's time we invested in some decent ones. cheers David B
  4. Hi, I saw your collection of cars at the Marlborough carnival and being very practical minded, my attention was drawn to the sun shades in two of the cars. (Blue octavia and a silver fabia?) I own an Octavia estate, a large black dog and a small person who would all benefit from some decent shades in the back and boot. I noted that there were two different types of shade. Could someone tell me which car had what make, would you recommend them and where did you get them from? Do they fade over time? Go a slight bleached red/black like my kiddicare ones have? I'm thinking next year I'll get a set ...when it's sunny.... tempting fate... they'd be very useful. Hope you can help. David B
  5. Thanks I assume you mean the climate controler, will check it tonight. btw It's a 51 plate, so mkII? cheers David
  6. Ok, I've got an update on this as it's still on going. The 5051 check comes back saying there's no power to the climate control console, therefore it cant check for problems. There were 2 error codes however, 00562 and 00779, one for the oil/temp sensor and one for the air temp sensor. (Air temp on dashboard incidentally shows "-- oC". ie no temp reading.) Any ideas so far? I've been told that it basically needs a full wiring check following the flow of power to the cliamte control console till the break becomes evident, which is a bit of "leave a signed blank cheque please sir" job as even the dash may need to come out. eeek. The technician did say that the back of the radio looked like it had got HOT, but suggested that they do get very hot, especially on long journeys and that may cause this hot /almost burnt effect? I didnt see this, so cant describe any more. Any thoughts please as I'm just dreading how much this could cost. thanks David
  7. Hi, Does anyone in the Bath area have VAGCOM that they could kindly use to identify the fault that's causing my climate control console to have no power going to it? many thanks David
  8. Does anyone know if there's an in-line fuse to the climate control console? as a last resort.... David
  9. Checked them all pimpster and they are all are fine. :( and it's out of warranty. I'll pop along to the garage and ask for their thoughts. thanks David
  10. Checked all fuses esp fuse 16 (aircon and electric pump) and fuse 25 (fan heater), both were sitting ok and not blown, infact none of the fuses were blown. I was hoping that would be a nice straight fix. There's no specific fuse called climate control btw, I assumed air con was the next best alternative. The climate control backlight doesn't come on either nor do I have the temperature display on the digital clock/multifuntion display (the one under the Rev counter). The multifunctional display works with the rest of the variables, mpg, time, etc. The car is out of warranty so no go there but might have to pay a visit to the skoda garage. thanks David
  11. As per the subject... It's probably quite simple...? I have checked all the fuses, not knowing which one, if any, controls the climate contol console and they are all ok but yet I don't seem to have any power, no lights or display let alone fan or heating/cooling. This follows on from the radio backlight not turning off, which I've just rectified by pulling out and pushing back in, the radio fuse. Is there a specific fuse for this climate control console does anyone know?... because if there is... perhaps I haven't put it back in straight/fully? It's dark now, so i cant check anymore so I will check again in the morning. Hope someone can help with some suggestions...? thanks david
  12. Hey, it worked! Thanks Pimpster! I gave it few taps, and a bit of squeezing and pushing but nothing happened. So because I couldnt find the radio keys to pull the headunit out to check the power cable, I took the radio fuse out, which got the backlight to go off! Fuse was ok so popped it back in, started the car and then turned on the radio. Safe mode came on, waited a few seconds, it found the programmed code and then hey presto the radio came on and all my stations were back. Turns on and off now like it always did! However....I seem to have now lost all climate control / fan control :( no lights, no fans, no nothing and I cant seem to find a fuse number for the climate control console? I've tried the fan fuse, but that's fine. I dont think I was too heavy handed? so does this point to some underlying electrical/software glitch? Computer got itself in a twist? Should I disconnect the battery and for how long? but :( at the same time... cheers David
  13. Hi, We've had a 51 plate octavia estate now for 6 months and everything has worked perfectly until today. When I went to put the radio on this morning it wouldnt work, no display, no error message, no safe mode ... no nothing ....but yet i notice the green backlight is on and the display screen as a consquence is warm. By this evening the radio still wont come on and the backlight still wont go off, regardless of how long you wait. It's an original headunit and like I mention above, hasn't ever been a problem playing the radio/cds. Anyone got any suggestions? cheers David
  14. Sounds promising... Might trade the scooby in for one of these!? David
