Hi Just bought a Fabia MK2 2008 with the BZG 1,2 liter 3 cylinder engine. I notice the oilconsumption is high. Its only done 120000 km and in good shape in general. i Read 0,5 liter / 1000 km is normal. Not sure if mine is more, still testing. Few questions 1 The oilstick has a marked area where the oil should be between min and max. Anyone have any idea how much "oil" it is between min and max? Feels like 0,5 liter at least. 2 Do you always test engine at normal running temp or cold? 3 If the consumption is higher then 0,5/1000 km, any idea what it could be on a low milage car like mine? Maybe do a compression test to check the piston rings and valves will give a somewhat story but was thinking if there is a classing problem with them? 4 My catalysator is smoked. Getting the 0420 error meaning cat efficiancy is too low. Also a crack on the manifold so need to change. I suspect someone has overfilled the engine maybe and damage the cat. Is this a common failure on a 1.2 liter engine? Incl the crack on the manifold?. I assume no idea to change until i figure out if the engine consume more then whats recommended Thanks guys

So clean now. Its the steering rack or steering gear that is leaking not the engine. Amazing i had the low level light on the engine oil at the same time as i saw the leakage under the car. so two problem in one go. Anyone have any good guides on how to change the steering gear? Guess youtube have plenty. Thanks help all

two photes of the driveshaft from above and the stearing gasquet. Its totally dry on driveshaft and above the stearing gasquet. Also the stearing connections are dry. This is opposite side of gearbox. Gearbox side is dry. Third photo is aver the linkarm. Some newly sprayed bodypaint but you can see a section that is oilwet. So the oil is def hitting that area but i cant figure out how. It must be rinning from, most likely, above. I will be giving it to a workshop for fault search. Shall keep you posted :) Thanks help so far.

PCV i assume is next to the oil lid on top of the engine with a plasic hose to the intake manifold? Its all dry and no oil there. Timing cover looks super dry. Should see oil coming from it. Its so strange how the engine and everything above the right side link arm/stearing rod is dry. It basically start down at the arm just under the stearing rod. At first i thought it was stearing fluid but its not. Connection and the gasquet to the stearing rod is dry. And i guess the stearing fluid would be empty by now and engine oil going down as i drive. Odd problem :)

No i had an engine oil low light last week and I see engine oil dropping after falling up. Its totally dry on the gearbox side.

Hi Got a 2008 1.2 liter 3 cyliner BZG engine. Only 110000 km. Its leaking oil. The issue is that the engine is totally dry. Front, left, right and back. Can not find one drip of oil. However the linkarm (right ride of car) and about 1 meter rear is totally soaked and i notice about 1-2 dl oil gone on 100-200 km driving. It only comes out after driving so stop dripping once stop. I cant see any house, pipe etc above the linkarm. Again nothing on the backside of the engine. Tray, belt side etc. Attaching two photoes. one from below the link arm and you can see its wet and oil have sprayed rear on the chassie. ALso a bad photo on the back of the engine. No oil what so ever. Any ideas? Thanks guys
