  1. Welcome Graham 1874 Wow that’s a step change in size from your previous. Makes my Octavia estate look underfed ;) Both good lookers though! Sure you’ll find tips from those in the know on this site.
  2. Nice history Chris 47. I remember when the joke Skoda brand became car of the year with the first Fabia back in the mid nineties. I’ve got an Octavia estate for my tools. Nice but bit too much fragile tech for me on this eco friendly PHEV at least compared to my old MK3 Mondeo estate.
  3. Hi JN12 Need to find a fabulous independent myself. Sounds like you are a problem solver. Useful asset to all
  4. I suspect you’re not talking bol*x Bollix :)
  5. Some are good apparently Mine was not. Secondhand car dealer “full Skoda service history” Nothing on the digital “Erwin”system. Battery checked by AA ok but failed /replaced by main dealer after 300 miles. Plus DSG oil change as insurance (main dealer said filter good “for life “ (Maybe due to inaccessibility issues (around PHEV)). Chiller unit discovered compromised after third diagnostic attempt at main dealer (.£1463 quoted). The infotainment/connectivity was a nightmare - so main dealer upgraded to “1914” (?) so that is recognised as ok (now). In my opinion I wouldn’t recommend an early second hand Octavia 80K PHEV Mk iV to my worst enemy however cool they look (and they do). The inaccessibility due to cramped bonnet space, the vulnerability of the fragile tech associated with that sophisticated simply (too) clever (by half) engineering and as second hand the more than likely lack of any warranty makes such a purchase a money pit. Take away the PHEV aspect giving more engine bay accessibility, less fragile control system also the problemic “Covid year(s) issues the MkiV is probably a worthy successor to its previous iterations.
  6. Wow good for you. I am sure you will be an asset to this community with your insights and enthusiasm (Yes good looker it is !)
  7. My estate seemed To have accessory net for dog if that’s useful to you (MkiV as it happens) My mechanic friend says that the engines have become so much more efficient that perhaps you may well find the 1.1 all you need especially with majority of trips very local
  8. Any petrol model Octavia would be better than a second hand out of warranty PHEV.
  9. So was that warranty I hope From my limited knowledge I am thinking you have a manual? My DSG is an expensive one to renew oil although only at 40K intervals.
  10. Ooh isn’t that pretty! Nice nick for a mk3 ?
  11. Hi Skoda buddy Tried to p/x my intelligent vehicle for a Mk3 due to complexity issues but the main dealer salesman only sold 5 years and younger. The old ones are the best Make that models “Simply (too) clever (by half)”
  12. Yes the Superb (and certainly earlier) Octavias seem to be consistent people pleasers in the reliability stakes. Good to have that “small” car atm until the current fuel issues calm down .
  13. Hi Buddy. Good to see you here. So a Superb choice hopefully for you. "A lot of car for not much cash" was Which Mag verdict this last year's guide. My Octavia estate is a bit slim in the hips compared with my old Mondeo Mk.3 estate. Your diesel will pick up some high re-fuelling prices but my PHEV Mk iV came with a Covid infection and fragile tech that your diesel is blissfully ignorant of. Enjoy your old school car!
  14. Ah - the of a petrol or diesel! Maybe my problematic second hand 80K PHEV Octavia will come up trumps now multiple issues sorted and with ongoing oil crisis. You will still be in the money with all my recent service bills though!
  15. Hi Shakelton Snap Octavia First Skoda for me in fact. Mk iV Estate SE Technology 1.4Tsi PHEV Covid model early tech Plenty of problems Not being a spanner twirler myself left the multiple red and Orange fairy lights to the main dealers It’s been an expensive introduction to Skoda Picking up after latest issue HV chiller failure after previous incorrect diagnoses. Hopefully will start paying me back with my job now. I am not convinced but must live in hope. Tbh at least it’s not diesel and the complexity of the hybrid is maybe a silver lining in view of current oil supply crisis
