  1. Just had a good experience with Hortons. My family have traded with them since 1996 but I was a little apprehensive about taking my vRS in for a service fearing the creation of a job creation scheme, once my car had been in their workshop. But I needn't have worried, no! No pressure was put on me to have anything done and after driving it home, boy does it go better. The guy who worked on it, Daniel Brailsford I believe, did a cracking job and Mike Green, the service advisor, treated me with the uttermost respect, as a customer should expect. Darren Quibell, the technician, came out of the workshop to have a word and show me the vRS Felicia Pick Up they are creating. If they had made a mess of things I would have complained, but they haven't, so well done guys. I'm a happy man. Just popping out to try my car again. PS When you read this Oliver you owe me a drink
  2. Eureka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've finally got my windows fixed. Saw a new old stock motor on ebay for £85. Bought it Monday, got it Tuesday and fitted it Tuesday night. For the first time since last November my windows work.
  3. I've got an 07 Silver one. Registered new in Shropshire but I'm in Lincolnshire. Has a DU area registration number and I've seen quite a few vRS's with it. Think they where ex VW Financial Services cars. Bought mine when it was 3 years old so I guess the lease or something had expired.
  4. Contacted them and they haven't got one. But still a handy place to know about as they're only 50 miles away from me.
  5. Thanks for that. The one on order is at my local retailer and thankfully hasn't been paid for!
  6. Have I heck as like. Eight weeks today I ordered a new one and still no joy. But finding a secondhand one seems no easier.
  7. I'm a bit lost with mine to be honest. Just my windows don't work, the drivers side hasn't worked since last November! Reset them and the passenger side works for a very brief period, a few minutes infact. Sure its the controller thingy gone on the drivers side motor but I've been waiting over 7 weeks for a new one. If I took it to my Skoda dealer and they found it was the motor what the hell would they do!
  8. Polluxtroy69 have you got that secondhand motor? And if you have does it work? I'm still waiting for a new one, after 6 weeks!
  9. Polluxtroy69 that's the same as mine. Renault must have similar motors as I see you can buy repairs for the Temic circuit.
  10. Mines a later 2007 version. It's a bit of pathetic situation, can't even buy a new motor!
  11. I've had the same problem with my 2007 vRS over the past two winters. Windows stopped working last November and drivers hasn't worked since. Passenger side only works if I reset it and then it packs up again anyway. So I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new drivers door unit from my Skoda dealer in Lincoln. Over £160!! Only trouble is I've been waiting 4 weeks and it still hasn't arrived.
  12. I'm fed up with my windows not working. Just had the drivers door trim off to check the wiring with a multimeter. Got 12 volts through to the motor and the drivers side window switch is okay. So I presume I need anew motor? If so I'll have to grin and bear it. Don't really feel like going to my local retailer because every time the car goes their the Service Adviser seems to create a job creation scheme!
  13. Well my 2007 Fabia vRS is a wacking £162 a year. That's correct £162. Fully comprehensive with protected no claims. Admittedly the cars bog standard, I do less than 4k a year in it, have use of another vehicle and live in LN4 postcode. Plus I'm 52 and never had a claim in my life. But the car does stand outside, list my occupation as household duties (I'm currently caring for someone) but nonetheless £162! It doesn't include Legal assistance fees as my breakdown cover does that. Even then it's less than £200. A quote for a 2008 Octavia vRS tdi was something like £250. So turn 52, live in Lincolnshire, never have claim, do a low mileage an you can't go wrong
  14. Me too. I'm afraid. Did the same last winter as well.
  15. My vRS electric windows have packed up again, just like last winter. When it happened two weeks ago I just swapped the two fuses around and they worked again but now, nothing. It always appears to happen in the colder, damp weather. I might disconnect the battery tomorrow and see what happens. Frustrating to say the least.
  16. I just keep swapping fuses 46, 58 and 68 around and they work again. It seems to point to a fault in the fuse box area.
  17. It sure was. But guess what? They wouldn't work again this morning! So I swapped those fuses around again and they then work. Then I locked the car, unlocked it and they don't work. Fiddled with fuses again and they work. At least I know what area the problem lies in. I'll try and find some fuses with thicker contacts and see what happens.
  18. At last success!! After having no electric windows for over a month I've finally got them working again. For how long I don't know? Had a twiddle in the fusebox with one of the fuses and they work again. Must be a bad connection around the fusebox area. Is the fusebox located in the same place as VW's and do they have the same problem? Well anyway for the time being their sorted, I just wonder for how long?
  19. Well my electric windows still aren't working. I've changed the drivers side switch for another and still no difference. What I've failed to mention is that all of the time the central locking has always worked from the drivers switch, just the windows don't. I've tried changing the fuses and the drivers side switch, so what else can it be? Does the ecu want resetting? I've read about doing this on here but unsure as to whether I should do it.
  20. Now I've just been to strike her up and the batteries nearly flat! Will have ti investigate tomorrow!
  21. Had a look at mine again today. The passenger side now works but the drivers side doesn't. Baffling to say the least.
  22. Well my 2007 vRS windows have now stopped working as well! I've changed the fuses and no difference. Also checked if power is getting through to the fuse and it is. So what else can I try? I presume the relay is fine because I've power at the fuse. Is it the switch on the drivers door then??
  23. Well folks my 2007 Vrs Fabia has just done 38k. Never had a cambelt, water pump or tensioner. Do I these changed now or leave it another year. My Skoda retailer recommended a change last year, at 4 years old, but I'm a bit p***ed of with them, they always seem to look for unnessesary faults and are more concerned with reaching their targets than looking after the customer.
  24. Fathers got a 2000 50k Fabia 1400 Classic. Unfortunately its been at the Skoda dealership a fortnight after being returned to them twice to fix the fault. The immobiser keeps packing up. The car starts but go out in, leave it a short while and then go back to it, and the immobiser light appears on the dash and it won't start. Leave it a few minutes and then it starts again. The hotter the weather the worse it gets. Had to be trailered in to Skoda dealer initially and they checked it through. They fitted a new thermostat and sensor and a lambarda senser, recoded it and away we went. Only for it to do it again twice!! Dealers recoded it twice only for it to happen again. This time they've checked it through again and found all the faults they rectified have reappeared! Whats all this I hear about an 'Immobiliser Reading Ring Wire' that runs from the ignition switch to somewhere behind the dash? From what I've read on here it sounds totally feasable! Or does it need a new ignition barrell with a new immobiler in it? We're getting desperate and to add insult to injury the dealer says it can't be looked at for another fortnight!! My old mans 86 so needs reliable transport and has run Skodas and dealt with the garage since 1996. And only last year I bought my Vrs off them and had it it serviced their a couple of weeks ago. And to add even more insult fathers now looking at buying a Vauxhall Corsa or Renault Clio!!! So please help
  25. Well dgmp, does it work. My old mans w-reg Fabia Classic 1400 appears to have the same problem. Had it sorted at the Skoda dealer, then had to take it back two times to be recoded again! And now its done it again with me in it. Left it 15 minutes, so I presume it cooled down, and then it started! Will another ignition barrell, with the old key attached to get a reading, fix the problem? Or does it just need this immobiliser ring wire replacing?
