  1. Thanks shaunieboy. Only wish you were having better luck. I wouldn't bother writing to customer services. I'm sure they'll just parrot the same line back to you in writing. Writing to the Skoda UK head might help. I certainly found this worked with both BT and TalkTalk when I was having problems. The CEO's offices of both have special teams who deal with customer service issues like this. One special delivery letter to both of them resulted in a very long running issue being solved in a matter of days following receipt. Not sure if Skoda UK have something similar, but it might be worth a try. The real question if who to write to. Easiest thing to do would be send an e-mail to the Skoda UK managing director. His e-mail appears to be: [email protected] If you fail to get a response from there, you could write to him at the Skoda UK head office. Another, often successful route is to post stuff to social media. Twitter is usually a good starting point. Most brands really don't want negative comments popping up in their Twitter feeds. If you get no joy from any of that, then take them to the small claims court.
  2. Just got my Superb back from the body shop, and they've done a great job. Full marks to K J Rule down here in Cornwall. They were totally professional throughout, gave me feedback throughout the process, and beat Skoda warranty into submission over repairing vs replacing the tailgate. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Have also given Skoda customer services some constructive feedback over how they handled the issue. I might even be tempted to write a letter, as the way these body repairs are handled (even if you've had all the inspections) leaves a lot to be desired.
  3. The 6 speed can be very reliable if serviced regularly. Mine has done 191,000 miles, and always had the oil and filters changed at the right intervals. Only fault has been the flywheel, which I changed about 5,000 miles ago. A friend had a very similar problem to yours and it was repaired without replacing the box. I'll drop him a message, find out what was done and post back in the thread. All I do know is that it wasn't cheap. Cost him around £1600 all told. Andy.
  4. Sorry that you're having so much pain, Shaunieboy. It really is **** poor customer service. I have had some positive news with regards to my issue. Skoda warranty were never going to accept the opinion of my local dealer, as they don't have an approved body shop on site. I agreed to book the car in for repair with the only Skoda approved body shop in Cornwall and dropped it to them yesterday. I figured it would be better to make the arguments for replacement versus repair with them, as ultimately they would be footing the bill if it rusts again. Just had a phone call from my local dealer to say that following inspection by the body shop, Skoda have agreed to replace the tailgate. Persistence can eventually pay off, so don't give up.
  5. I've got a 170TDi DSG with 189,000 miles on it. I get 38mpg around town, and overall average town/motorway (measured brim to brim) is 40.7. On my journeys to and from London, I find that I get around 44mpg average. Highest I've ever seen was 48.2mpg. Driving around where I live is not good, as it's up hill and down dale for lots of the time. MFD was way off initially, showing about 5mpg higher than actual. Have re-calibrated it now with VCDS and it's within +/- 1mpg now, depending on driving conditions. My car has the emissions fix, so I'm pretty sure it could be better with a rollback of the software. I also found that having the car TerraCleaned helped a lot with mpg, as it was significantly worse before.
  6. Had another call from customer services this morning. Same old story. We can't talk to the warranty people, so we'd like to close the case. On a brighter note, my local dealer have pushed back on the warranty folks, and requested that the tailgate be replaced. It's really not a good way to run a business, where customer services are deliberately prevented from actually delivering customer service.
  7. Spoke to customer services with regards to repair versus replacement and they were of no help whatsoever. Customer services say that they cannot speak with the warranty team in any way. They say that only the dealer can do this, and that the warranty team will follow whatever recommendation the dealer puts forward to address the issue. I've therefore asked the dealer to indicate that only tailgate replacement is a suitable option in order to ensure that the repair returns the vehicle to factory standard paintwork quality. Will see what they say. Personally, I find it hard to believe that two teams inside Skoda can't talk to each other to resolve a customer issue. It all seems a bit iffy to me.
  8. If you hear noises like this: https://youtu.be/Y6HNYvHf9xg especially when the car is cold, then the DMF is definitely on the way out. On mine, the noise went away when the engine was warm. Didn't have any symptoms like yours, though. Has to be said, my flywheel wasn't horrendous when we took it out. Certainly, failure wasn't imminent. I did the job ASAP, just to be on the safe side.
  9. If you know which dealer serviced the car, a quick call to their service department could pay dividends. Mine was a ex-lease vehicle and I only had the stamps in the service book to go on. A quick call to the service department, and about 20 minutes later, I had an e-mail with all the invoices for work carried out. Luckily, my DSG had been serviced on time throughout the life of the car. It's currently done nearly 185,000 miles and still going strong.
  10. Thanks David. Just had a message from my local dealer to say that Skoda have approved a repair, but not the replacement of the tailgate. I'm going to raise the issue with customer services, and ask that the tailgate be replaced, as others have had on the forum. With regards to the new lights, the local dealer reckons the issue is due to the frame of the light being made of anodised aluminium. Sounds like they're talking about galvanic corrosion, which I can see as a possible cause. Will keep the forum posted on my progress.
  11. I'm still waiting on a decision from Skoda for my car. Glad you got a good outcome. Gives me hope that I might get the same. I certainly won't be letting them off the hook. My service book has all the stamps in it, including the bodywork inspections, so I'm hoping they won't try to wriggle out of it. With regards to getting the closed back LED lights as replacement. Is this something you asked for, or did they do it as a matter of course?
  12. Just noticed the same problem on my 62-plate Estate. Skoda have initially said the same thing. I'm going to push it, as a colleague had the same problem, and Skoda fixed it as a goodwill gesture.
  13. 99% certain it's the DSG thermostat. Mine was behaving exactly like yours. Changed the DSG thermostat, and the problem was gone. Now heats up to 90 degrees and stays there. Parts and cost here in the UK were: 1K0 121 087 AH - Splitter with filter - £9.17 1K0 121 113 A - DSG Thermostat - £27.55 The splitter with filter probably won't need doing, depending on the age of your car. From what I'm told, earlier versions of the splitter didn't have a metal gauze filter in them, which could result in contamination getting into the thermostat and hence causing premature failure. My car (2012 MY) had the filter when examined, so I didn't bother to change the part. If you do decide to change it, you'll need new hose clamps, as the ones on the car are single use.
  14. My first Superb Mk2 Twindoor did this all the time, same side as well. Was one of the first delivered back in September 2008. It was only ever that side, and fitting a new bulb each time always sorted the problem for a while. At the time, I did suspect a dodgy electrical connection somewhere in the cluster. I reported it to the dealer multiple times, but all they ever did was replace the bulb. My current Combi doesn't suffer from these problems. Perhaps the design is improved in the Estate rear cluster?
  15. Which unit did you order? I've been thinking about getting an Android head unit, or going with the Amundsen from the Yeti (which also gives Mirrorlink/CarPlay/Android Auto). Does the unit you've ordered also work with the steering wheel controls and/or the MFD?
