  1. Sorry for the delay. Turns out it was a split in the hose somewhere under the carpet (didn't ask exactly where). Dealer took out the carpet and underlay and repaired the hose. How it became split is a mystery. I'm told this can happen if the washer is activated when the fluid is frozen but this would not have happen since I bought the car. It is also recommended that screen washers are not used if there is a likelyhood of the fluid being frozen. Whatever, I was offered a courtesy car for two days and the fault was fixed free of charge under warrenty.
  2. Many thanks to all those who responded my note. The car is booked into Birchwood Skoda Eastbourne on Monday and they have offered me a courtesy car for a couple of days whilst they sort it out. I'll give them a list of the items from the post to consider! In answer to the other questions raised. No it doesn't have a sun roof. I had no condesation problems until just before I spotted this leak. Try the pollen filter and associated things. As for rainwater dropping on the seat, this happens to lots of cars. To do with the shape of the car's roof/door etc. now that cars don't have gutters!
  3. Cleaning out my 18 month old Fabia Estate which I bought in September from a Skoda retailer, when I discovered that the front passenger footwell was very wet and had stained the carpet mat on top of it. (hadn't noticed it before because I have rubber mats over the top). I know it's not from anything placed on top so it must be coming through from underneath. Has anyone else had this problem? And, more importantly has anyone identified the cause. Will be contacting the service department tomorrow to ask them to rectify. Perhaps I should also raise this with the Skoda helpline.
  4. Very interesting thread. I've had both 'outside' sensors replaced but still had a problem with the offside one. Yes agreed it's a water ingress problem and am grateful for the 'fix' as suggested. I don't understand why Skoda dealers don't read these forums and become aware of the problems and their potential diagnosis then they would be better able to serve their customers by appearing more knowledgeable.
  5. I haven't used the forum for probably two years but now I have a couple of problems with my 57 reg Roomster 1.9 TDi. The symptoms are the exactly the same as experienced by Wickerman1138. Beating the syncro from first to second esp. when the car's really hot. This only started about two months ago. I emailed a local gearbox specialist who commented that this problem with the five speed box is 'not uncommon'. It is likely to be a failed 2nd. gear syncro ring. Interestingly I have spoken to both the supplying dealer and Skoda UK about this before I wrote to the specialist. The dealer said he could find nothing wrong and Skoda UK said take it to your local dealer! Now I read it's a known fault, I'll be right back to them. Incidentally, the gearbox specialist said it would cost £516 inc. Vat to repair. My car is less than four years old and has only covered 41k miles, mostlynot on short trips in traffic! The other problem concerns the parking sensors. Both 'outside' ones have been replaced. One under warranty, the other I had to pay for (outside 3yrs) The system fails only after standing in my drive in heavy rain, not whilst driving in heavy rain. The warning noise and the black bars come on continuously when the car is in reverse. The black bars only on the side of the 'failed' sensor. I believe this is because the sensors are not sealed sufficiently. Last time it happened I used a hot air blower to dry them out. I used this from the outside of the bumper. After waiting a while I tested it and ....problem solved but I'm not doing this every time. It's back to the dealer to suggest he does a better job of sealing the sensors. Really reluctant to do thiss because it's a 70 mile round trip so it costs me every visit.
  6. Looks like a stress fracture to me caused by some foreign object on the edge of the frame touching the glass at the point where the crack starts.
  7. It happened to me too. One fell off only days afetr I bought the car. Replaced without quibble by the supplying dealer.
  8. A belated 'thank you' to Stephen for the details and pictures of the towbar. Seems neat and a very good price compared with Skoda own brand. And at lower cost than Witter whose bars I've fitted to other cars in the past. Could you tell me the size of the bumper cut out so that I can compare it with what's on the Witter website. Thanks again.
  9. Assume your model is non-Scout. Could you please post pictures and give details of location of wiring loom and price. Thanks.
  10. Thanks, Decron. This might just make the difference. I assume change form side to side rather than back to front. I'll try side to side and see if it makes any difference.
  11. Thanks to those who have already replied. Any further comments would still be appreciated. All the obvious things have been checked at my request by the supplying dealer, so no easy answer. I have 'tested' the car on all kinds of cambers, power on, power off, braking, freewheeling, uphill, downhill. None of this makes any difference, so no clue as to the cause. Any ideas as to what to look at next?
  12. I'm new to Skoda and therefor new to Roomster as well as this site. I've covered over 1500 miles now and my new purchase is ideal for my (and the wife's) needs. The only thing that does cause concern is the car's tendency to pull to the nearside. My supplying dealer has tested it and says it's about the same as other Roomies, however I'm sure that the demo car we had for two days didn't have this pull. The dealer also offered me an identical car to test. That was perfect, no pull at all. Have other forum members had an experience of this and is there fix for it? I should say that the car is a Roomster2 1.9 tdi and the dealer checked the wheel alignment and found it spot on. Any comments about others experience would be appreciated.
