  1. The trip comp in my standard 54 vRS is v good on the whole. The last several tanks look like this Calculated mpg-Comp mpg 45.2-47.24 48.1-48.2 46.8-48.8 46.7-47.2 47.1-49.0 47.9-45.9 48.2-53.0 53.4-53.3 50.4-51.8 47.5-47.9
  2. I've averaged around 46 mpg in the last 6000 miles - quite a lot of twon driving. Usually in the range of 40 - 60 mpg depending on the trip. Insurance is very variable depending upon age etc - I'm 32 with 6 years no claims and still pay 400 - depends where you live....lots of people find Admiral/Elephant very cheap.
  3. Go for it! I had a 182 cup until I got my VRS and it is the best car I've ever driven (not sure that says much actually, I had a Ka before the 182.....) Superb handling (and the Trophy will be another step forwards again) and very exciting to drive. I got a much bigger buzz driving it around at 7500 rpm than I do the Fabia at 2500 rpm I found build quality to be excellent, and certainly I had far less trouble with it in a year of ownership than I've had caused by leaky doors on the VRS. I only got rid of it because I was only getting around 24-25 mpg on my commute, which made up most of my driving. Starting to regret it now with diesel inflation...... I think there are a few things to look out for on the Trophy - particularly associated with its rather expensive suspension! I'd check in with the Renaultsport forum for more detailed advice. HTH
  4. I live on a narrow terraced street and the alarm on mine has never triggered (that I'm aware of, anyway)
  5. That's buzzing....gonna have a go at that with my Go 910 later. Don't fancy the Octy police car mind, having been pulled for the first time ever today near Stansted airport. Feel lucky as they let me off for 70 in a 50, and then a short stretch of 40! It was an empty dual carriagway though, so not too terrible. Think I'll go for the Fabia RS icon! Cheers
  6. Spoke to my dealer this week. The cambelt is due at 60 000 or 4 years. They don't normally replace the waterpump unless there are signs of leakage i.e. changing it is not a Skoda UK recommendation.
  7. Thanks for the input everyone. I'll try to refit it a couple of times, but if not I'll just stick the sucker down with silicone.
  8. Hello, I have an annoying problem with my vRS at the moment. Every few hours or so the cover on the accelerator pedal falls off. This merely annoys me most of the time, but I guess it has the potential to be a real problem if it goes under the brake pedal. Am I just not refitting it properly, or is it supposed to be glued on? For those not sure what I mean, take a look at this. Many thanks, James
  9. Hi All, Wow, had my vRS for all of four days and have found that both nearside doors leak into the car i.e. front and rear. Splendid. It wouldn't be a suprise to find the other two doors do it as well. The leaks don't seem too bad, but I want to fix them. Predictably the warranty expired about three weeks ago; I don't think the previous owner noticed it as it was normally kept in a garage while I keep it on the road on a camber. I've seen the repair guide at fabia-vrs.com and fancy a go at this rather than throwing money at a dealer (I spoke to Whiequay Reading who said they were unaware of any such problem?!) and had a few quick questions: Is fixing the front doors as easy as the rears i.e. is the method to remove the door panel similar? I guess I should get the Haynes manual. Will any old sealant do the job, or should I buy the Skoda repair kit? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, James
  10. Hi Everyone, I'm in Reading and have just changed my Clio 182 cup for a 3 year old Fabia VRS. I'm still a bit sad as the Clio was great fun, but I was only getting 24 mpg on my commute as the traffic is so bad  I've had the Fabia since the weekend and got to drive it in all the snowstorms on the A1(M) on Sunday night heading down towards London. I've found it to be brilliant so far, very stable, refined, no rattles and lots of torque. Very different experience to the Clio then! I got 51 mpg on a recent motorway run and am getting 38 mpg on my commute so very pleased Needs an interior valet as the seats are pretty dirty - if anyone could make a recommendation in the Reading area it would be appreciated! Cheers, James
