  1. I got stuck into it today and figured out how to get the trim off The process is - - remove the tweeter grille and remove the small screw behind there - remove the trim of the doo handle and remove the two bigger bolts in there - pull the trim outwards starting at the bottom and working around until all release (or break) - lift the top up and away from the window - disconnect the wiring and the cable to the lock
  2. After looking for screws and accessible clips on the door itself I’ve searched on here and elsewhere and I’ve failed miserably to find any info on how to remove the door trim on the inside of the rear door I appear to have a faulty control module in there and I want to get in at it to see exactly what is happening without breaking trim completely Any info would be greatly appreciated
  3. I just went out and checked and it's the bottom left one I've tried that and hopefully it'll solve it Thanks
  4. I've an '08 VRS and an unusual issue started just before Christmas and is starting to really p!ss me off. The interior temperature of the car gets up to whatever I set it for and will stay hot for about half an hour and after that the inside of the car starts to feel cold. The fan stays running but it seems like the vents all shut off and virtually no air comes into the car. The record button isn't pressed and the temperature dials don't get touched, it just stops letting heat into the car. I doubt I'm the first to have this issue so what's the fix for this?
  5. Yeah I felt the spring and it did seem very strong, that's why I was wondering if there is any way of adjusting the mechanism forward to reduce the pull on the cover once it's fitted. Maybe someone will come along and post details of how easy it is to do that .....
  6. Is it possible to adjust the "resting" position of the washer mechanism? I have to replace the cover on mine and I'm looking at the distance from the bumper to where the cover clips on to the washer mechanism and it makes no sense that a clip-on cover basically pulls the whole thing forward, it's no wonder they fall off. Oh and that now also makes me wonder what is the procedure for fitting a new cover? Is there a way to get the washer to stop in the "out" position?
  7. Would it be damaged though? If it was left off (jack plug not connected) the it'd be the same as driving the car if the gas had leaked from the air con system. That normally never kills the compressor
  8. I've figured it out  Access is via the drivers-side wheel-arch. The pre-tensioner can te turned clockwise with a 16mm spanner and then pinned in the released position (there is a hole in the pre-tensioner assembly and in the block and once a pin is put through these the tension is held off the belt). The old compressor comes out and the new compressor goes in via the wheel-arch. I'll soon have it all back together and I will have working air-con before the day is over.
  9. My air con compressor is dead :( I've got a new compressor and I'm about to fit it but I'm looking for a bit of info before I start ... I'm fine with recovering the gas, etc but what's involved in releasing the drive belt? Where is the tensioner located and what's the best way to access it? Also what's the easiest way to get out the compressor? From above or from below? The car is an '08 VRS TDI
  10. I've checked and it's got the Delphi compressor, not the Sanden one, in it and it does have the Torx head bolt but it's completely tight. There is full voltage going to the compressor. It looks like I've got a dead compressor :(
  11. Ressurecting the thread as I have a fault on mine now and it has the Sanden compressor with the torx-head bolt in the middle. I'm thinking I have a dead compressor but when you say the bolt winds itself out do you mean all the way or just loosen? It looks like the bolt is in place though
  12. Thanks for the "how to" pics.Much appreciated.Job done. Yeah that happened mine as well just now but you will be able to open it with a bit of careful manouvering with a small screwdriver.
