  1. D'oh!!! should be on www . firstline . com then search for parts then click on Webcat Olli
  2. Well tbh I would put the rubber bushes in the front part of the wishbones seing as the poly ones are much cheaper, plus at work I retail them at £15.90!!!! Poly ones were £14 something If any of you guys want piccies of what aftermarket bushes look like, or whats available on the aftermarket market, have a looky here: FirstLine catalogues=- ... Or for any other cars of any make etc, checkout this: FirstLine catalogues Enjoy!
  3. I got a pair of powerflex bushes for the fronts yesterday evening! £37 delivered from venom motorsport.... Good enough for me, plus I like them guys! Managed to find lower engine mount poly bushes too which was certainly a good find!!!!!!!! :D About £40 odd I think? I can say that you can get the front wishbone bushes, Firstline do them (i work in a motor factors), but they're about £15 retail each, so may as well go for the poly bushes! I believe the std ones would have to be pressed in with LOTS of lube hehe even though yes they are mushroom shaped on both ends! Do you recommend using fairy liquid as soneone suggested on here, for the rear bushes, or do you have tu use the seat lube stuffy? Ta!!! x
  4. Hiya, That number for the bushes is correct as far as I remember, and it has a small rubber insert where the TCA goes in, then a metal ring, then a small amount more rubber then the outer casing. This is wrking from the inside of the bush towards the outside. Thanks very much for the good luck bit, I'm sure I'll need it!!! I'll try and get some detailed pics of the bushes efore I insert them All the best, Ollie x x
  5. Well, I'm doing this over the next week on my 9n Polo.. The steering at the mo is mad! little bumps in the road send the car all over the place, and I can tell you even doing 60mph is SCARY! I'll be fitting new standard wishbone front bushes and got the Cupra rear wishbone bushes, also fitting 312mm brakes at the same time, I'll report back on the new feel after fitting it all Going on coilies next month Thanks for a FANTASTIC thread! This has inspired me and given me that little bit extra confidence to do the job Ta, Ollz x x
  6. Hehe I've got a Polo and sticking the 312's on, upgrading from 256mm!!! And I already think the 256's are very good, I reckon the 312's may actually throw me through the windscreen! Why am I doing the conversion you may ask... Answer: 2.8 VR6 next year :p :p :p Keep up the good work lads!
  7. Hmm Maybe a Lambda sensor? Coil Pack? Coil packs are quite common, so may well be worth checking out.. Does the engine management light (or emissions light) come on at all? The emissions light will come on if there's a "decrease in quality of exhaust gases"... This basically means that there is a misfire, or something going wrong! Could be burning oil, maybe water... Ideally you need to get it plugged into VAG COM to see what comes up on the fault codes! If you're local I might well be able to do that for you x
  8. Hi guys, did then clutch friday n saturday evenings.. and today! Almot finished, but then I broke the cover to the gearbox... It's the cover inside the front wheel arch, bolts on with 5 bolts... My jack slipped and put a huge dent into it, and saw the gearbox oil dribbling through and all over the drive! AAAHHH!!!!:( Anyways, my question is, that little plate, can I take it off without the gearbox internals all falling out? Is it simply a dust cover? I didn't want to take it off, as I don't know what might fall out from behind, or break or something :S Can anyone help please! Need my car back on the road! (Next is my mums car.. her bloomin clutch went all weird.. Cant get into gear! Clutch cable is fine tho, and gears engage fine with engine off! Anyways.. Ta again for your help!! Olli xx:thumbup: Ps piccy attached of the damage.. lower lip.. Ollie Maybank's Photos | Facebook
  9. Ahaa hehe I had a MK1 cop car parked in front of me last night at sainsbury's, was in my polo and they were facing me.. The driver was in the shop, but the passenger decided to put the lights on full, blinding me, then put them back down :s Didn't quite understand that! Do you think a silver Fabia vRS would have the same effect at the octy? If so I can imagine myself going on some very entertaining evening drives! Lots of chavs round here driving like ****s, I'd love to do my bit and just "catch them out" hehe and make them all think twice! Anyways.. What you guys reckon? xx
  10. HAHAHA excellent! I'm always thrashing the nuts off mine, all the time, im just addicted to it now! (And ive been thrashing her for over 50,000 miles now!!) Unbelievably strong engine actually, its got 90K on the clock, and for two years I did motorway trips twice a day, holding a good speed! Won't say what speed but she'd hold 5,000RPM all day long! Even 5,500 sometimes, but that was pushing a little! (Consider the rev limiter kicks in at 6K hehe) All I got is a slghtly rattly gearbox when she's cold and erm.... Very slight rattly kind of sound in the engine from time to time on tickover, other than that she still goes brill! I'll stop praising her now otherwise something will go wrong! They do sound lovely tho dont they, Ive stuck a small cone air filter on, and the difference in sound in UNBELIEVABLE! With the standard filter on, it sounds like a bit of a sewing machine, filter off= Rally sound! Just needs a bigger zorst now.. I dont want loud, but want a nice deep rumble.. Hence why I'm fitting a TDI box and if thats not enough then a fabia vRS rear box Ooh here's me rattling off loads of crap! Yes, turbo is planned for the future, but not until ive paid off the finance.. Turbo is a bit tooo much for a car i dont completely own yet :P I dont know what kind of turbo to go for tho, poss off a 1.4tdi? Not something big, but something to give it another 20odd hp Of course I'll be sticking on a twincam head, and fit bigger valves / bore out the inlet / exhaust ports in the head :p I'll let you guy know when I do it!! Ollzey xx
  11. Cool thanks so much for that (at last!!!) most reassuring message! The fluid needs changign anyway, when I changed the pads last year, the fluid pushed back into the rservoir was black!!! Not very good :s So that needs changing, which is no problem! So no special tools other than a good set of 6hex sockets! Get in! Got a very good torque wrench as well, so hopefully (got my fingers double, triple crossed!!) it'll be a doddle! Just one thing I failed to mention... The golf never made it back onto the road, as the subframe got bent when the engine / box came out! Oopsi!!
  12. Well here we go, I'm ordering in the new clutch tomorrow ar work, as a 3 piece kit (pressure plate, friction disc and release bearing)... As well as all the engine and gearbox mounts! .. And bleeding the clutch / brake fluid... That should sort the 90,000 miles service? I'll let you know how I get on..
  13. Well, I have a haynes manual (as good.. not as they are!!) and have read through it several times! The only thing that puzzles me is the gear selector adjustment thingy which is quite strange! Other than that the clutch will be the same, changing the clutch plate itself should be p*ss easy, and I know about lining the clutch up etc, thats easy as well, it all makes perfect sense to me, but I don't want to end up with half the box off and needing a special tool or something to undo something... I'll take the under engine belly pan off and checkout all the nuts / bolts and see for myself at the week-end. I might well go for it myself you know there's plenty of space in there, its only a 3 cylinder so space shouldnt be an issue at all Thanks for the reply Oh I also know about the hydraulic clutch, that's easy, all part of the braking fluid, they share the same reservoir! Ta!!!! Olz xx
  14. Hi again guys, got a 1200 6 valve 2002 polo, (I know its polo not fabia, but you guys are so much more helpful than elsewhere!), and the clutch went on me yesterday. Now it just slips into gears, if the revs drop at all :( I need to change the clutch, but have been quite unfortunate with quotes... £290 being the best one... I want to change it myself, have done it on a MK2 golf before, was easy enough, but have never attempted it on my polo obviously, so.. Can anyone give me advice of any special tools / expertise needed for the job? Anything to watch out for? Is it totally not worth tempting? I can get the clutch kit for £50 thru my work, which is good, and its a Valeo clutch kit What you guys reckon? Ta very much! Ollie x
  15. hmmm :p I really want a vRS :( I believe skoda had a plan to build a new fabia vrs, to be out beginning 2009.. A friend told me they're no longer doing this? :( x
