  1. Can anyone tell me how to remove the shift knob of a Skoda Octavia 2002 manual transmission? Please indicate detailed instructions starting from the boot all the way to the knob removal.
  2. I was with EMP when we went to pick up the Octavia at the shop. What when wrong at the shop, who knows !!! Maybe they tried to start the car with a different key by mistake. We solved the problem by disconnecting the car battery for about 1 hour and reconnecting it after the hour. Result: OK...the computer or immobiliser reset itself and the car starts as it should, now. We are using the car now to see if the problem arises again. Still, the question remains unanswered. The manual states a procedure to bypass the immobiliser by inserting the 4-digit code (which we have) and after that the car will start normally within 45 minutes. Future starts would have to continue to use the procedure until the car keys are reprogrammed at the dealer. During the problem event, we could not get to the 4-digit display on the speedometer to display. Have anyone know exactly how to perform the bypass procedure. I am driving the car now and probably will go to the dealer to find out what's the problem.
  3. Sorry, we are talking about a 2002 Skoda Octavia Ambient. 1.6 liters engine, 5-speed manual. PD: When I removed all the screws and bolts the rear of the plate tended to drop a couple of inches, but the rest seems to be hold or tighten in the front of the car.
  4. You´ve got to be kidding !!! Buying a Vaccum Oil pump ? Surely there must be a way to remove the plate, unscrew a plug, drain the oil, and replace the oil filter .
  5. Hi Can anyone tell me how to remove the engine cover plate underneath front engine compartment? I removed all six torx screws and three bolts at the back but the plate does not move, neither forward nor rearward. Hints, please !!!! Cybergrizzly
  6. Overall it feels like a good car. It has almost 100,000 kms in the odometer and still feels good except that the car ceiling fabric dropped maybe because of heat in the tropics. This is my son's first car and I bought is for $5,000 (US Dollars). Cybergrizzly
  7. Ok, Guys...need some help here: Yesterday I tried to change the oil and oil filter on a 2002 Skoda Octavia Ambient (1.6 lt engine). I knew that I had to remove an under engine steel cover plate but after removing al the screws and 3 clamp style bolts at the back, the plate would simply not move. I tried sliding it forward and reverse without avail. Can anyone give a hint on how to remove this plate? It is the one that protects the engine area from underneath. Cybergrizzly
  8. Morning, People.... First time in the Forum. I bought a used 2002 Skoda Octavia Ambient a few months ago. Generally speaking...okay. Feels good to have a Skoda Forum that can provide some input about problems with the car. I will post one after this. Al Chong:thumbup:
