  1. Koda - the dealer should be able to look up the bulletin by its number, mine certainly did. If you have any trouble with them pm me your email address and I'll send you an ms word copy of it.
  2. This problem is addressed by Technical Bulletin 2023814/1, the content of which is shown below. It was cut into production in wk22 2010 i.e. 2011 model year. It is a simple coding change for the dealer which changes the mirror unfold from "ignition on" to "drivers door opening". It is done without charge in a warranty situation. As the bulletin states, there is a warranty code for the work and a time unit of 0.5 hrs. I've had this done to mine so can vouch for the bulletin. This coding change cannot be done by using VCDS - it has to be the dealers system. Technical product information Transaction No.: 2023814/1 Folding out of outer rear mirrors does not work Release date: 14-Jul-2010 Customer statement / workshop findings After starting the vehicle, the fold-in outer rear windows do not sporadically fold out (one or both). Technical background Voltage decrease when starting the vehicle. Production change 22th CW 2010 (MY 2011) – fold-out of mirrors already when door is opened (change of the logic for folding out the mirrors). Measure Using the VAS Marken CD 39 and higher, change the coding of the control unit of the driver´s and front passenger´s doors (diagnosis address 42 and 52), where you select fold-out of outer mirrors when the door is opened in the coding possibilities, see Fig.1. Fig.1 Warranty accounting instructions Fault code / symptom: 5782 / 0040 Working position: 5782 2599 30 TU
  3. Happened to me several times - usually caused by tiny moths that lie dormant until dark then fly about and trigger the alarm. I would think a daddy long legs would have no bother setting it off!
  4. Below is the main content of one of the Technical Bulletins. Note the reference to a "reinforced" tensioner introduced in 2010. Doesn't sound like a wear and tear item to me! Technical product information Transaction No.: 2024485/5 Damage of timing chain tensioner Release date: 27-Jun-2011 Customer statement / workshop findings Engine cannot be started, the Check warning lamp is on. In the engine CU, the following fault is stored: • 00022 P0016 CMP Sensor -G40 Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor -G28 Incorrect allocation; • 00808 P0328 Knock Sensor 1-G61 Circuit High. Technical background Because of the defective function of the timing chain tensioner, the timing chain may get too loose during the start causing a valve timing change. This may result in a contact of valves with pistons. Production change Reinforced timing chain tensioner – new part 06H 109 467 T. It was introduced to series production in CW 20, 2010.
  5. Looks like he is bypassing ebay and going direct to PayPal payment, thus avoiding the ebay selling charges.
  6. Thanks. Already got them working but with the following connections:- Pin1 (flat end of plug) not used Pin 2 Ground Pin 3 (round end of plug) +12V foglight. Full power on ignition on, and auto off when side.headlights switched on.
  7. Hi, Just fitted some 2011 fabia vrs led front fog lamps into my 2012 octy vrs, Fittment is direct slight wirring difference but sorted (fabia has a 3 pin connector on the fog lamp, 1x earth 1x lower voltage for side lights and 1x front fog lamp, so just used earth and fog connector). Hi Could you tell me which of the 3 pins are ground and 12v please? Also does the standard fog lamp connector physically plug in to the DRL unit. Thanks
  8. I've done this recently on a MY12 Golf with the same result. A bit of searching led me to the solution of doing a Factory Reset, in the maxidot Lights and Vision menu, to actually apply the changed setting. Worked fine on the Golf so I would imagine the Octavia would be the same. Apparently MY11 cars and later need this extra step.

  10. Thanks for that silver1011. I also like the idea of 70% foglights, and share your concern re dealers understanding this. Anyone out there able to give more detail?
  11. Could anyone with VCDS clarify what DRL options are available for a 2010 Scout without the LED DRLs fitted. I've seen various suggestions on other threads but I'm looking for something more definitive. Many thanks.

  13. For ships to the Tyne, keep an eye out for the "City of XXXX" ones, not the "XXXX Highway" ones. They use the same Vessels as Nissan do for exports so the ships arrive at the VW Distribution Centre at North Shields, unload, then hop across the Tyne to South Shiels to be loaded with Nissans then off to European/Scandanavian ports. When I was tracking my Scout about 4 weeks ago it was "released for shipping" on April 21st but then had to wait for the 3rd ship to the Tyne, leaving Emden on May 4th on board City of Barcelona. The other ships I tracked during this time were City of Rome and City of Sunderland.
  14. Snag is Bob that I can't get any confirmation that it is on the boat. Dealer being very vague today, and after seeing the latest posts on here I'm wondering if there is a connection! Have to wait and see I guess.
  15. Also had a Scout built last week and hoping its onboard the "City of Rome", due into North Shields tomorrow afternoon. Car was ordered on 13 Feb. Geoff Atkinson
  16. I also had a Scout test drive at Benfield, and raised the question of DTD prices, but both Chris and Liam, the sales manager were very dismissive of DTD. They also stated that the VAT free deal did not apply to factory options. Went to Silbury Skoda at Cramlington and got a better and friendlier deal.
  17. Order for Scout entered on Skoda's system 15 February and immediate provisional build date of week 16 came back, so that's pretty much in line with your experience.
  18. Yes, first service at 16000. Made no difference to noise.
  19. I am sure this is tappet clatter, and none of the above answers the questions: Why did it take 13 months to appear? Why only 7 out of 10 starts? This leads me to think something has started to happen intermittently after 13 months.
  20. On about 7 start ups out of 10 my 1.6 FSI emits a loud tappet clatter for 2 to 3 seconds. I know this is caused by oil draining out of the hydraulic tappet(s) when stationary, but I believe that this should be prevented by non-return valve(s). The problem is the dealers seem to adopt the attitude of "they all do that", but mine did not appear until the car was 13 months old, and even then its only 7 out of 10 starts. So my question - has anyone out there had any success in having this problem fixed by a dealer? Thanks
