  1. OK, solved it I think... Its the Key for the Airbag lock that is in the glovebox. Just in case anyone else was interested.... Steve **** - Scrub that, the main key does that, although this one turned it also, but I dont think its meant to.... I'll just take it off the keyring I think, as I cant find anywhere else it works
  2. I will later. Im not currently with the car, so was hoping someone might recognise before I have a frantic swapover after work ;-)
  3. Righto, thanks for that, its deffo one of the car keys then I'll leave it on the keyring Thanks Steve
  4. Hi guys my car leaves me today, dug out the spare key last night and there is another key on the fob, but can’t ever recall what it’s for… Is this something to do with the car, anyone know? it’s been in a draw for 11 years….
  5. Yes, it could possibly be... I did throw a fault code for Evap system a while back but can't recall the number, and I had recent misfires on Cylinder 4 that led to a new set of plugs, that was done when it went in for the MOT. I had been thinking of changing it after 11 years service anyways, so this kinda just nudged me to get it done! A lot of my 110k has been around town use rather than motorway trips, so I think I have probably seen the best of her anyways... ;-)
  6. I've noticed my 2010 using more oil, its always used a little, but have spotted puffs of smoke whilst idling, exhaust is pretty sooty!... Its now on 110k, passed the MOT last week but only after a rerun on the emissions. It flagged up an oil leak between engine/gearbox so would probably need the clutch looking at et al as well... I just dont really have the confidence in the car I used to have... Have owned the car since day 1, but decided to finally trade it in, and am moving away from the vRS scene after having owned one since my Mk1 52 plate. (19 years ago...) Just a quick thanks to all here that have provided info over the years, its an amazing source of info, you're a good bunch! Happy Motoring 🙂
  7. There is quite an angle on the ones in your pic, might work, dunno... I will say that these have been on and off the car multiple times since 2016, have greased the bolts in them a couple of times to keep them running freely, and bought a new spanner for them as the original that came with them was shocking and would eventually have rounded the bolts. The rubber blocks are quite thick, and obviously dont mark anything on the car, and still seem to be in good shape nearly 5 years on. Once on and all tightened up, they seem very solid, carry my bikes often and no problems at all Hope that helps
  8. I had these online, weren’t too expensive and team up well with the Thule bike mounts too. cruz aerobars I think they were called
  9. Morning Just passed its MOT a few days ago, 2010 vRS 2.0 Petrol Estate. Had timing chain tensioner changed at 61'000 miles in 2016, also had the inlet manifold done at same time as the fault had been showing on and off for over a year (Luckily it got through MOT whilst it was clear) That was an expensive visit, as i had 4 new tyres, brakes all around, timing tensioner and inlet manifold all done at same time. Currently 103'000 miles on the clock, runs smoothly, likes a little drink of oil but has done since day one, owned from new. Its still a great looking car, even alongside its brand new, larger German rival estates, it doesnt look dated, and you wouldn't know it is 10 years old. Other than the supermarket scars.... Will be chuffed if I can get another 5 years or so out of it, I love it!
  10. I passed 100k last week, 2010 vRS Petrol Estate (manual) It'll be 10 years old in October, and had it from new. Had my Mk 1 for 8 years before that. Love these cars 🙂
  11. That sucks! I was in the bank a few weeks ago, and saw the rear end of a car back into mine and drive off, couldnt get the reg as he darted around the corner before I managed to get outside. No one saw anything of course.... Rear bumper took the hit, its cracked the paint On a positive, mine failed its MOT today but passed shortly afterwards after having an anti roll bar drop link changed 2010 plate, 94'000 miles, owned since new and absolutely no plans to change this car, I Love it!! (its also my 2nd vRS, had my Mark 1 for 8 years before this one) 😊
  12. Its a great looking motor, mine was parked next to an almost new BMW Estate the other day, and to be honest, it didnt look at all dated in comparison. Mine is coming up to its 9th year with me now, and hit the 94'000 mile mark a few weeks ago. Still happy to keep it as long as I can :-) Steve
  13. I have had my 2010 vRS from new, 90k now on the clock but planning on keeping it as long as I can. Timing tensioner was done a few years back, and uses a little, but not too much oil, which I buy from tesco when they half the price of it. I have another 4 years of paying off the loan I needed to pay off the cheating ex-wife (dont ask, poxy courts) so i'm hoping it will last until that time. It helps that I love the car! :-) ps - I had my previous 52 plate vRS for 8 years too Am I close to being the longest running vRS driving member?? (17 years in a vRS)
  14. I have an Octy Estate and went straight for roof bars and Thule Carriers. I do get a little bit of wind noise with them left on, but mostly around town miles for me and it doesnt bother me. Can get my bikes on the roof and locked into place in a very short time, and they seem very secure, including a few 100 mile trips along the motorways. Only thing to remember is car parks/low barriers :-) Steve
  15. I had this and put up with it for 2 years, before finally getting it done with a load of other stuff. Pretty sure it was about £650 at the time, but it was lumped in with a load of other work I had done including the timing chain tensioner The car ran fine as it was, but eventually the code clearing didnt last long and it pretty much stayed on all the time
  16. I had to take mine in recently... I had noticed a few days before that when starting, it wasn't catching straight away, usually first turn of the starter motor and it would fire up, but it was taking 2/3 seconds before actually starting.... I then started it up one afternoon, and it was running very badly, juddering at idle, but ok when revs were higher. I took it straight to skoda in Newport, as I was only a few miles away, and had the following report sent on to me. Hope you get to see it https://video.citnow.com/vtytZh2KwP9 Timing chain, tensioner et al all changed Manifold fault has been on the car for nearly 2 years, but thought i'd get it done whilst it was in Tyres were low, all 4 of them, MOT due soon, so had them all done whilst there Same with front pads/discs I had all the work completed thats listed and is now running fine again, should be good for another 3/4 years now. (61k on clock, owned from new)
  17. Im another with this problem, light has been off and on now for best part of a year! It went into dealers last august (for service), as I had already read of the problem, so wasnt that concerned. I think the code reads as P2015 (another common fault it seems) Car runs as normal, skoda dealer checked over and said all seems to be running fine, so they reset it, passed the MOT and im just putting up with it. I was quoted best part of £700 to put it right by dealer, seems a lot to pay, just to put a light out, so I havent.... My only worry was it not passing the MOT, but it did Steve
  18. Mine has had the p2015 coming on and off for about 6 months. Was quoted about £700 from my main dealer to solve the problem.... (new inlet manifold) They were good enough to check it over and advise that all seems to be working ok with it, and they reset it and passed the MOT ok. Once again, the light came back on a day or 2 later. So, its just a case of live with the light on the dash or cough up £700 Car is running great, so i'm living with the light! Steve
  19. Im not 100% but think it was on variable, and has been serviced as per schedules at Skoda dealer. I know the driver well, not the type to 'mod' it in any way. The dealer has told us it needs a new ECU, but they are not the dealer we sourced from. Im sorting that tomorrow hopefully, and getting it moved to the supplying dealer. The fault seems to be intermittent, as it will run a few days, then cut out completely The supplying dealer are getting in touch with me tomorrow.
  20. HI Guys, after a little advice... One of our Company cars passed its 3 yr old mark in March It has 104'000 miles on it It has been cutting out recently, and Skoda in Swansea have diagnosed ECU failure The car was bought in Newport (near our office, the rep lives in swansea and uses skoda for service) Skoda have offered 10% goodwill, and swansea skoda adding 10% goodwill (via Swansea skoda speaking with skoda uk) Question, do you think we have a case under SOGA regarding durability of the ECU. The car is high mileage, but surely 3 years for an electronic part is not good enough? Any advice would be well received Thanks
  21. Mine is whining a little with the aircon on, and certainly silences after turning it off, hence why I mentioned it. Just trying to help pinpoint the noise.. :-) Steve
  22. Does it do it only when the air-con is on? I have noticed mine seems to be a little louder when the aircon is running, but disappears when I turn it off... Steve
  23. Morning My 2010 Petrol vRS is showing this fault, any advice guys? P2015 Have reset a couple of times, but comes back a week or so later. Cheers Steve
  24. Mine is 320/340, but had 450 once on a weekend trip to Cornwall taking it very easy (but with a loaded car) Just checked fuelly, and my 4 yr average is 31.5mpg but a lot of my driving is around town ****Edited - Just checked that trip to Cornwall, it was 415 miles not 450
  25. Hi Goochy There was a rattle reported on the 2.0 vRs engine under load at the low end rev scale, further reading can be found here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/156415-new-vrs-20-tfsi-rattling-noise/page-2?hl=%20tsi%20%20rattle Could that be it? Steve
