  1. Contact FourMasters Audio Specialists for free advice by telephone or email. There are 4 outlets in Scotland: Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinboro or Glasgow. Here is the link to their website and toll-free phone line.: http://www.fourmasterscaraudio.co.uk/car-audio-products/hertz/ There is an excellent audio specialist in Wigan called K&M Acoustics which I can highly recommend as they have done a high-quality install for me and I am very pleased with their work. Their website and contact deals are: http://www.kandmacoustics.co.uk/
  2. I live on the Wirral and have a Fabia. If you only knew the bands I have Tour Managed in my time, you would wet yourself... :sun:
  3. Phil: "My Felicia only had front speakers and I fitted some in the back and it made a huge difference to the sounds........" It certainly makes a huge difference to the sound stage - it destroys it.... !
  4. Having no rear speakers is an excellent idea if you are into sound quality. Rear speakers destroy the sound stage in the front seats.
  5. I fitted Rockford Fosgate 6.5" Audiophile series speakers in the front of mine and have no complaints - they still sound very good. +1 for Rainbow, and Hertz speakers sound good too. Whichever speakers you decide on, don't forget to fit sound-deadening material to the front doors - that is essential !
  6. Any idea when this meet will be taking place?
  7. Can you give some more info about the rally please? Exact location, times etc.
  8. Stone chips are just God's way of telling you that you drive too close to the car in front on motorways...... !
  9. A low-cost windscreen DAB aerial is absolute rubbish and a waste of money. Buy the correct aerial to begin with and you won't regret it: http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/Kinetic_DRA-6003_FM-AM_DAB_car_aerial.html
  10. Here: http://www.german-number-plates.com/ £32 per set.
  11. Thanks guys, I'm pleased that I'm not alone in thinking this conversation was funny ! (R for RACE mode!)
  12. OK, so this is about a BMW and not a Skoda, but it is truly hilarious: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=1387072198174515
  13. Do you have any doors at home that won't stay open on their own?I would recommend you use your rear speakers as door stops as they sure as hell won't improve the sound in your car.
  14. Rear speakers will destroy your sound-stage and are not necessary. Save your money.
  15. I'm running 6.5" Rockford Fosgate Components on custom made door-builds and I'm happy with them. i would recommend Hertz though, they seem to get very good reviews. Don't forget to sound-deaden the doors while you are at it, as this is very important. My choice would be 'Skinz'.
  16. I'd say a bass-head listens to systems while an enthusiast listens to music.I listen to music!
  17. Correction: The car didn't lose control, the driver did.
  18. Just to respond to your reply: In the case of "If they are NOT fitted they cannot be tested + thus cannot be failed." Garage 1) was adamant that the fail would be issued because they were missing and were required, and not simply because they couldn't be tested. If, for example, the driver's seat belt was missing (and therefore unable to be tested) the test would still be a FAIL because a driver's seat belt is required. Ditto the auto-levelling and headlamp washers are REQUIRED if HiDs are fitted (according to Garage 1) As for your 2nd comment, the garage was in no doubt whatsoever and were certain that the test was a FAIL so were not prepared to pass it with an advisory. Unlike Garage 3) who were. My point was that three seperate testing stations gave three completely different views and I agree with you that there should be standardization on these matters but obviously there isn't, and that's not good.
  19. Not quite. Police can read advisory notices (on their computers) which are issued with MoT passes and may or may not take it further whether or not you tell them "it passed with no issues...."
  20. It seems a controversial subject this, and as I wanted to be sure before retro-fitting new HiD lights to my Fabia, I called 3 different MoT garages askingthe following question: "Are headlamp washers and auto-levelling required if HiDs are retro-fitted in order to pass an Mot test?" Three completely different responses. Garage 1) said that they would fail a car without auto-levelling & washers if HiDs were fitted to it, explaining that they interpreted the new MoT regs. to mean that IF auto-levelling & washers were fitted then they had to be working but obviously if they were not fitted then they couldn't be tested. However, the choice of whether or not to fit auto-levelling & washers only applied if HiDs were not fitted, and they repeated that if HiDs were fitted then it was compulsory to fit a/l & washers. FAIL. Garage 2) said that the only requirements of the headlamps were that they were the correct colour and were aligned correctly. They would not be in the least concerned about whether auto-levelling or washers were fitted or not. PASS. Garage 3) said that if they MoT'd a car fitted with HiDs which did not have a/l or headlamp washers then they would pass the car but issue an advisory to that effect. PASS. So, there you have it - three different responses and in each case I spoke to the mechanic who did the MoT testing, not the receptionist or any other un-qualified person. So, the best advice would be to ask for the garage's interpretation of the new rules before getting the test done, and if their response is another version of Garage 1) then go elsewhere.
  21. Yep, I too think that they would look naff, but they work just great! Focus the nearside one onto the right hand kerb and the driver's side one onto the left hand kerb about 300m in front of you and bring on winter! Wire them into your main-beam circuit with a simple on/off switch on the dash and build solid brackets or else the constant flickering will drive you nuts.
  22. Oh don't mention it Dippy, it was no trouble..............
