  1. I have bought Mintex Rear and Front discs and pads from this seller and they are real. not had any problems with them and now had them on for 8 months.
  2. Had same fault code on my brothers VRS. Decided to get a new EGR valve in the end which I found online delivered for £60. Mechanic fitted for £30. The car had done 68k but the previous owner was one careful lady driver so it didn't get much thrashing. When the old one came out it was covered in cr@p.
  3. Check service history too see if correct oil was used. Also check if water pump was done at same time as cambelt.
  4. I've had a pipercross for 3 years and I clean it every year. I bought the pipercross cleaning kit which comes with cleaner fluid and the oil stuff to reapply. Haven't had a problem with it. Always made sure it was really dry, but only let it dry naturally and applied a minimal amount of oil (don't go mad).
  5. My brother just bought a black VRS 2006 (55 plate) with 68k on the clock and FSH. No damage a few stone chips, cruise control and heated seats and paid £5200. Perhaps the remap might put some people off?
  6. Is York the only place Seat Surgeons are based? I live in Kent near Dartford and was wondering if they had a more local place.
  7. Cheers. I take it they easily replace the OEM discs and pads? i.e. no extra bits needed?
  8. Hi, I need to replace the front discs and pads on my VRS. Having looked around I have decided to go for the Mintex ones: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKODA-FABIA-RS-MINTEX-FRONT-DISCS-PADS-2003-/360060996903?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53d54ecd27 I was wondering if anyone has brought from this seller? If so are you happy with them? I'm hoping they aren't fakes or anything! Thanks
  9. Have you tried Bell? part of the Admiral group and I always get best price from them when compared to all other quotes.
  10. To keep them clean and remove brake dust with ease I use Wonder Wheels. Each year when I do a full clean of them I use T-Cut to get the really embeded stuff off, but don't go too made as it removes the lacquer.
  11. I bought one of these GTech Acceleromtor things and when I measured my 0-60 I got 7.4 However I must say that it wasn't the best thing in the world. Sometimes you would get a no reading or the thing never stopped reading or you'd get a stupid reading of 1 second or something. I positioned it exactly as the instructions said. Just below the centre of the rear view mirror and made sure it was level using the built in thing. As it was stuck using velcro it was always prone to movement and always needed recalibrating every time your moved about in the car. I sent it back for a refund after a week of frustration with it.
  12. I tried refurbing a dodgy alloy. I must say that although it was a good job the colour was not the same as the others even though I used the Wurth colour that everyone suggested. It's so difficult to get the exact colour right because using spray cans and when you spray from different distances it gives slightly different effect. I used it for a little while and then found a brand new VRS alloy on ebay with brand new tyre for £90 pickup! The continental tyres are £90 alone so I was quite chuffed. The old refurb alloy is sitting in the garage. I'm waiting until one of my tyres wear and then I'll nick the tyre off of it and probably sell it for someone to get refurb'ed properly.
  13. Mine too suffers from bad condensation. I have checked everything, replaced pollen filter, doors sealed under warranty and no leaks. I tried the Anti Fog stuff but it didn't really do anything. I bought a moisture trap a couple of weeks ago from ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kilrock-Moisture-Trap-dehumidifier-Home-caravan-Boat-/190471872995?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Hearing_Cooling_Air&hash=item2c590221e3 It seems to help but the only thing is that the little crystals can spill through the vents and end up all over the carpets as I found out. For the time being I put it in a plastic bag and wedged it behind the drivers seat pouch. I may purchase the 'sausage' bags posted aobve apmaman as these can go anywhere and I won't have the problem of it spilling crystals!
  14. Cheers guys. Our Dyson hoover doesn't have attachments small enough to fit down there I don't think. But I'll give it a try and failing that I'll remove the seats.
