  1. It looks like the spoiler has had paint in the past from the pics. My spoiler has a lovely corner devoid of laquer.. local bodyshop want £150 to spray it all (in situ i think) so its not on my list of things to do before christmas.
  2. Sorry for the late replys guys, thank you for all comments good and bad. See Pastyboy on here for the badges! the headlights are tinted with "flyeyes kit" its a film with lots of little holes in it so the light emits through at 100% what it was before the tint. I should have bought a decepticon badge now i think about it..maybe i will get one lol.
  3. Welcome fella nice to see another new face
  4. Try now, i realised i put a thumbnail up and just edited it fella.
  5. I recieved my new badge yesterday so thought i would stick a pic up for you all. I think it kind of fits with the fabia...looks like a old womans shopping car but goes like stink. [ All coments welcome..
  6. my 53 vrs brakes have always been good to me until i drove SWMBO 54 reg vrs. hers are standard equipment like mine but have twice the feel and 10 times the stopping power. i guess its just one of those things.
  7. Mine has 89k of motorway miles and i would part with that for 5k. i'm in need of a towing vehicle for the caravan sadly.
  8. Stage 2 remap and egr delete pipe :-D
  9. Ok i think i have now solved this myself.. I swapped the brake light bulbs with the reverse light bulbs and the brake lights worked fine...put it in reverse and it blew a fuse...bulbs are right model but something must be wrong with them. They cost me a quid each aswell robbing sods.
  10. Thank you moggtech it was indeed a blown brake light fuse...only problem now is everytime i press the brakes it pops the fuse. just checked the bulbs and they are the p21w bulbs as the manual says. Any ideas guys? can't afford to have unpaid days off work...the cars been trouble free until i put it up for sale haha Edit...Just tested the voltage at the fuse for the brakelights (fuse 2) and when the brakes are pressed it registers 12.3v.
  11. Hey guys. On the way home from work last night the glow plug warning light started flashing, After reading a few posts on here i went out and tested my brakes (no brake lights) so i assumed it was the switch as is covered in a multitude of posts. I nipped into rainworth skoda today and purchased a new switch and thenfitted it according to the guide on vwvortex. But the glow plug light still flashes and i still have no lights. I have taken the new switch apart and i can't see anything thing wrong (it looks so simple inside) i put it back together and tried it again...still nothing. Is there anything else it can be? fuses? I had a blown brake light bulb yesterday and fixed this to then be confronted with the glow plug light 30mins later.
  12. How long did the kit take to come Jason? i think i will order some for the front of my black fabia tonight. i will post pics once it arrives. Tris
  13. I used to trim car seats in leather, u may find Hog rings holding the covers to the seat itself (small circular bits of metal) use pliers to open these out enough to remove old covers and re-attach them to the new ones as they hold the covers in the right shape. (if vrs seats use them that is) if theyre decent covers you will get to a stage where you think theres no way theyre going to fit as they get very very tight. give them a bit of a pull and a prod and they should fit. once your happy with the shape you can use a heatgun to shrink any creases out of the edges, just dont get too close or the grain of the leather will go all smooth and look a bit of a mess. i find the easiest way of fitting headrest covers is to first turn them inside out and then roll them down onto the headrest a little at a time. get some pics up too as if they look good i may invest in a set also. tris
  14. oops, i'm sure it was today hahaha. I will see the rest of you next week at the 2nd monthly meet at the snipe

  18. I will try voodoo with a bra on my head before i pay £1800 for a new gearbox! i will get a local place to change the oil as there seems to be a weird shape drain plug on the vRS.
  19. stick the backing plater to the grill first then when its properly dry stick the badge to it. i did it the other way round then realised the whole thing was too heavy to glue on properly.
  20. I tried the search facility but couldnt quite find the answer. Iam going to change the gear oil on my Fabia vRS today and was wondering.. Whats the oil code iam after from the stealers? do i buy 2 litres? what are the torque settings for the hex bolts on the box? Do they need new seals like the sump plug or is it just a case of screwing them back in? Hope you can help guys Tris
  21. All those things sound expensive to rectify...would i be aswell just buying a used low milaege box should the worst happen? I'm nipping to TPS in a bit so will buy some gear oil to try.
  22. Ordered the forge kit as of 5mins ago. Thank you to everyone for helping me make up my mind...and spend my hard earned!! Tris
  23. for the past few months i have noticed a strange "screetch" noise when lifting the clutch up in 5th gear only. it doesnt really do it at low revs but 50+ mph in 5th and it is there. also when i lift off in 5th i get a high pitched whine that disapears when i put the clutch in. any ideas guys? its driving me nuts at the moment.
  24. ahh i see, i thought it would just be like petrol engines.
