  1. Hi wonder if you can help on this on my 05 VRS .Recently the above has started blinking/ going off randomly but particularly on hard acceleration and turning corners. I have checked the handbrake is down. Does this light warn of anything else and can one disable the loud beep as it is a distraction when driving. Nothing seems wrong with the brakes.
  2. Thanks but that looks like a Mk2 tray from description.
  3. Hi folks short and sweet does anyone know the part number for this or better still a part company that can suppply one at a decent price. Mine has come loose, is pretty battered now so might as well replace the whole thing.
  4. No need to say goodbye surely? It is a broad church here and many active members no longer own Skodas.
  5. I was only joking about the hands or was I? Yea I have put it on ebay starting at 0.99 no reserve. However owner wants rid fast as wants to stop paying rent on garage. He is 80 years old and does not want the hassle.Council will probably come change the locks on garage soon but then se have to get keys off them.I just said I would try the enthusiast sites to see if I could drum up some interest.I am always sad too to see the prospect of a good car being scrapped.I would have it myself but not technical. Sid the owner says he'll give it one more week then he'll get the breakers to take it away. I tried. This is last post from me on this.
  6. Well nobody has made an offer to take it away yet so the owner will probably have to pay to have it scrapped. It is a shame. Emailed mag editor and tech guy of Skoda Owners GB about it asking for them to pass word on but got no reply from them.I would like to cut the hands of the scumbags who vandalized it :(
  7. Never driven a BLt but tbh my gearing seems just right for long distance cruising. Mine is a 2005 and 2500 rpm at a steady 90 on the continent is perfect I think. She will still pull strong,y. from there.
  8. I still own mine and had it from new, I'm 39 now and car is 2005, unmodified and only 77k. I have no plans to get rid of it though!
  9. Not too dear really. Old car brochures are very collectable.
  10. Sorry Location is just off Saunders Street lower Gillingham. Two sets of keys and all paperwork. It was a runner a few weeks ago and put an ad here for it.Sadly vandals got to it before I found any takers...Garage is quite dark but body looks ok.Cramped space stopped them from completely wrecking it.
  11. Well I take it back lol I have one guy who has expressed an interest.Old boy wants rid in a hurry as in an unlocked garage and all the while there it is open to more damage.Council may come change locks any day then hassle to get keys as they are fooking hopeless. So pros: Sound engine No rust One owner from new Clean interior Cons Ripped out wiring under dash Mangled wipers Kicked in headlights Kicked in grill Battered steering wheel Give me a PM if interested and will give owners number. As said it's a freebie just have to get it on a trailer. We'd rather it wasn't scrapped.
  12. I hope so too. She runs but the sad thing is she was perfect last week. The useless council here changed the lock and the old boy could not get into the underground lock up to get the car out. He has sent his licence back.I had a mate who was going to buy it.Did not stop louts popping lock though. As said car is straight but has had headlights smashed, the front grille kicked in and the wiring ripped out. Needs a home asap or will face scrapper I'm afraid. Seems a waste but does not seem to be much interest in old Skodas like this. I will contact Skoda Club GB which I am a member of.
  13. Hello you might remember I posted a message about the above a few weeks ago. Sadly in the interim some little f******s have got into the garage and kicked in the headlights and tried to hot wire the car. They actually went for the main loom rather than the ignition on the dashboard. Having said that this is a clean little car with excellent panels, an engine with only 43K on it and would be a good parts car if someone does not want it for a project. The car is in Gillingham Medway and free to a good home. You will have to come and put it on a trailer though. If not the old boy who owns it will have to scrap it as he has given up driving. Drop me a line if you are interested and I will put you in touch. No idea how to attach an image here so will picopaste an image. Sorry it is not better: dark garage and could not roll car out as did not have keys. http://picpaste.com/066-86sHp5nN.JPG
  14. Brilliant little cars. My mate at school had a 105S as a first car. It was very slow but was a lot of fun in the handling dept.
  15. Hey David it's in Gillingham Kent. Not had a chance to look at it yet but old boy is going to let me take pictures in a few days when he dan take me down to the lock up. I will then put an ad on here via freedom. He says he wants around £200 for it to cover his costs and will throw in a new battery. More details when I get it i.e 54 or 67 bhp stc.
  16. Hi guys an old boy I drink with has sent his licence back and has a Skoda Favorit from 1993 owned from new with just 40k. He is talking about scrapping it which would be a real shame. I said i would try to find a good home for it. All he would want is cost of putting it through MOT as it is sitting in a garage at the moment. I'll go and take some pics. PM me if you want putting in touch.
  17. Hi just resurrecting this as still getting mixed messages as which oil to use. Thanks for the link above. No the whine is quite faint and only noticable at low revs say going along at 30mph in third of fourth but also noticable in second. I don't know if all boxes have a slight whine fo them or not as never driven another vrs. Car only done 71K and standard spec. It is annoying but does not seem to affect change quality and can't beat the synchros unless very brutal so don't think it is synchro wear. More annoying really when driving around town. Noise of engine takes over on acceleration and not evident cruising in top. Will oil fix it? Maybe I am being overly mechanically sensitive but i do notice these things.
  18. Mine is a light whine like the old 4 speed in an A Series Mini (Metro) if you can remember those. Not evident at high revs but normally second, third and fourth when the engine is under light revs/load. I'll check up on oil. Is it a specific oil of do I just ask for VAG gearbox oil. I know VW are really finicky on their specific oils (like PD engine oild for instance).
  19. Hi guys before I panic is a light whine normal for a vrs? If not I guess I should change my box oil or get my mechanic to. Can anyone tell me correct oil for 2005 VRS and do i need a special tool to drain and fill? I can't make head nor tail of the archived posts here. All seem to say different things. I hear one say box is sealed dor life and others say 50k with £75 for 3 litre oil!
  20. Hope you enjoy the car. It seems a little expensive to me though and has had disappointing press reviews. I think the press were hoping for something cheap and fun to drive rather than something that is aiming at premium stylish and is not that fun. I can't tell as not driven one but being an enthusiast something as simple as not having a rev counter is a put off for me. I would have gone for a Panda myself but nice review.
  21. Well protectionism is banned in EU law so they can protest unril the cows come home. However I have always found rural French people lovely (much better than the towns) but like here the poor sods are really struggling to survive. I must have some sympathy and admire the French for their gumption. Here we just moan. If people in the UK protested a bit more we would not get shafted as much by big business and the establishment elite. I am sure all but Daily Fail/ Torygraph readers would agree
  22. Would have loved to have helped but no bike at mo: been nicked :(
