  1. Saw the RAC/Skoda Assist fault details which said it was an electrical fault on the number 4 injector (at least what I could decode from the RAC chap's handwriting). The car is now back at the dealers and they've verified the fault. Apparently the recommended action is to replace all four injectors. The dealer's querying with Skoda UK whether it's appropriate to replace all four, considering the age of the car. Hopefully get the car back at some point next week...
  2. Not got full story yet but apparently skoda assist diagnosed an injector fault. Not very good on a car that isn't two months old yet. Not that impressed with Skoda assist either. From phoning them at 2:30pm, the RAC took an hour and a half to arrive, diagnosed that the car should be recovered then the recovery vehicle took three hours to turn up. On that basis I'd stick with the AA whose response times I've always found to be excellent. I know plenty of new cars develop faults but that's ok as long as it doesn't happen to me :( Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
  3. The wife's just phoned me to say our 12 plate 1.6 tdi started juddering and the glow plug light is flashing. She's miles away trying to view a house. I suggested she limp to the house viewing (quite close by) and then call Skoda Assist. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? A bit disturbing a there's less than 2.5K on the clock. Thanks. 4. Definitely should be a VAG approved bodyshop to maintain the warranty. When the wife pranged our new car I put it into a local VAG approved shop and they made an excellent job of it.
  5. Downer. Hope it's sorted out quickly.
  6. I think I'd nip to to the Skoda dealer and order a diesel L&K Superb Estate with every conceivable extra. I'd pick up the race green VRs they had parked outside as a runabout while I'm waiting for delivery. I'd also take my trusty Mazda Bongo to a classic car restorer and have it returned to concourse condition and painted up as the General Lee with Daisy Duke as an optional extra.
  7. Bodyshop phoned to say my Octy will be ready for collection tomorrow - hopefully it will look good as new (hey it is new!) . The chap at the bodyshop mentioned they used the 'Miracle System' to pull out the dent in the sill so I had a search on You tube and found this which is fascinating to watch (although it's in Spanish). It must be a massive time-saver for bodyshops. Not looking forward to the wallet-emptying part though...
  8. I think someone needs to investigate the whole no-claims bonus nonsense which imho is a scam operated by the insurance companies. It seems like the larger your no claims discount, the higher the pre-discount starting price is. Think I'll send an email to Watchdog.
  9. Our previous Octy used to have an annoying fault where, on sliding the drivers seat back, the seat seems to lock into place and then, usually a few minutes later, it kind of 'clunks' into position and the seat moves slightly as it does. It seems ike the ratchet isn't engaged and then engages suddenly with a clunk. Found that the brand new Octy does exactly the same thing. It always catches me unawares and is very annoying. Since the wife always pulls the seat forward, I'm always moving it back so it happens a lot. Anyone else experience this? I've never had it happen on the passenger side.
  10. To properly appreciate a Manta you need a mullet, jacket sleeves rolled up Miami-vice style and Lionel Ritchie playing on the stereo.
  11. I had to call the AA when I couldn't get the locker off. Kw*k F*t had tightened it way too much on a previous tyre change. The AA chap said the torque setting they'd used was far too high.
  12. Bet you can't beat this for time to write-off.. My father used to be a Citroen salesman back in the days of CX's etc. He was delivering a new car to a guy out in the country and was driving down Loch Ness-side when an oncoming car came round a corner on the wrong side (turned out to be a German vet who 'forgot' what side he should have been on). Since there's no where to go at the side of Loch Ness (cliffs or very deep loch) my father turned the wheel and took most of the impact on the side of the car. The car was still driveable and the nearest destination was the customer's house - so when he arrived he parked it with the good side facing the customer's house. Therefore the car was 'delivered' already written off. (Obviously they just supplied another car!)
  13. The wife scraped the new Octy along a plastic bollard yesterday. Initially thought that it was just some plastic scrapes but on closer inspection, the sill is bent and the bottom of the front passenger door is kicked out a bit. Sent some pics to a VAG approved body shop and they're quoting over £500 to sort it out. They'll pull the dent out of the sill and then sort the rest out. I want the VAG approval however so that the warranty is not affected. Needless to say I am pig sick. The car is two and a half weeks old.
  14. No answer required now, having had a proper look, the sill has been dented in the middle so will require expert bodyshop attention. Needless to say, not very happy. :-(
