  1. I'm in the same position, Company Car Tax is a joke, another way to penalise the working public. I have a '65 Octavia vRS Estate, Pano, Leather, Black Pack that is due back in November. I also need to fit 3 kids and a dog in. I had a Passat GTE for the weekend which I took to London, which I really liked, can you order one, no! BMW 330e are a bit pricey, no touring (not much bigger than the saloon tbh) Some good 530e deals no touring version. Volvo V60 no hybrid models available yet. No useful mid range from Audi with low BIK, Mercedes have some low BIK models but the monthly rental is expensive. I'm even toying with getting a Double Cab Pickup, but I hate them with a passion, that loophole should have been closed years ago. I like the vRS, just want a change.
  2. We had a '15 A4 Avant Quattro black edition and had a strange noise coming from the back end turned out to be the tyres sawtoothing, changed the tyres noise was gone.
  3. I've had the Columbus do it previously in my Mk2 and my Mk3 but only in cold weather. Mine is going in for the start stop warning on Tuesday and my traction control that now has a fit eavery now and again on a slight bend with hardly any throttle. Not sure if the tyre fitters have broken something when they changed the tyres :(
  4. I've got them on mine, do you find you end up getting all manner of stuff caught between the mud-flap and the wing
  5. Mine are leaking fluid excessively and are getting changed this week (12k) The A4's don't seem to use the same struts
  6. And just when you get ready to ring the dealer ........ it closes
  7. I've had it when I have gone to close it and stays tilted or when you use the fob to close and the tilt closes then opens. Seems hit and miss will mention it when it goes in for its power boot struts replaced.
  8. Give a thought to SWMBO who is squeezed between 2 child seats in the Octavia VRS Estate. She says we need to get a Kodiaq next.
  9. I reckon its the S pipe under the inlet manifold? Any takers??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSxH383oFhc
  10. SWMBO was driving back from North Wales about a hour of a trip on the motorway everything was fine when she cam off and was sat in traffic is started making a strange kazoo type noise. She pulled over and called me, when I got there about 10 mins later she started it up and it did it again, it didn't rise with the revs however if you turned the blowers on and off there seemed to be a change in its pitch. It seemed to be right down in the engine or underneath, difficult to tell. It threw the following code 16486 - 163 KWP1281 which is to do with the MAF as it was running bit rough. (New MAF probably about 10k ago) She then drove it to for 5 - 10 mins to where I had a code reader and on the way it stopped doing it. Any ideas I was thinking the secondary air pump but the car had been driving a while and it sounded like a kazoo not a hoover. Thanks, Ste It seemed to be right down in the engine or underneath, difficult to tell.
  11. I've got the rear camera and the main problem is it being exposed all the time so you get rain spots and dirt hindering your view. The C250 had a little flap it hid behind and kept it clean. Still handy though might try some hydrophobic spray on the lens or something see if that helps.
  12. 2 more sleeps! Delivery booked for Thursday!
  13. Ordered 11th August now at UK Port awaiting call off. Octavia VRS 2.0TDI Corrida Red Black Pack, 19" Wheels & Sunset Glass Leather Heated Seats Spare Wheel Columbus Panoramic Sunroof Rear Camera Power Boot Docs due next week, private plate ready to go on I have to wait until the beginning of December for the C250 to get taken back. Yes I'm sending back a Mercedes C250 AMG Line for a Skoda...........and can't wait. :p
  14. The BIK on the C350e make it very appealing to Company Car users, not sure what the actual fuel costs would be with the Petrol+ Electric Setup or what the lease payments are like. I currently have a c250 AMG Line until December, which is a nice car, but never feels as sprightly as its 0-60 time would suggest. The new C Class is a nice car although we have had a few issues with the 3 we ordered. Dab Radio is bad compared to the Audi A4 I had previously you can be listening to a station stop the car and turn back on and it cant find the station, MB uploaded a fix but it has started doing it again) (Audio20) Garmin SD Sat Nav is slow clunky and routes badly (It was 50 yards from the destination and it wanted me to take a 30 minutes detour) Random rattling sound from the dash which took two attempts to fix at the dealers Adblue required topup before first service FOC from MB at around 12k (It looked like they put it in with a catapult on mine all over the window, filler cap and back door) New rear tyres at 10k - 12k One car was delivered within a week the EML came on MB tried to fix twice, then the director told them not to bring it back after that and he got an A5 Sportback Centre console is easily scratched and attracts dust Rear camera is good for tight spaces Only Manage to get Park Assist to work once, but it does what it says on the tin Collision warning is a bit random at times You may die trying to find the button you want on the centre console, however they look nice Voice control only works the sat nav not the telephone The voice control on the sat nav cannot understand you It is a nice car at £35k and a big step up from the W204, but stuff like the infotainment should be good and work spot on and it irritates me to death, I suspect the Command system is better and worth the extra money. Having 3 young children space is an issue, which the C250 is not bad but nothing compared to the Octavia, we can just about fit all the required equipment for a visit to the caravan in the merc, the VRS Estate I borrowed swallowed the lot plus more. When I drove the Skoda you can see where the 10k price difference is in the quality of materials on the doors and switchgear but that is to expected. I have ordered a new VRS Estate in Red for when it goes back in December with the following (Had it 12 months) Black Design Pack Plus (Mid Life Crisis) Leather Heated Seats Spare Wheel Columbus (Had one in my Mk2 VRS) Rear Camera (Blame Mercedes) Electric Boot (Blame Audi and the mrs) Panoramic Sunroof (Not had a sunroof for ages) PDC No doubt the Skoda won't be perfect but i'm in it for three years.
  15. Seems to tick the boxes for a WRC http://www.gumtree.com/p/skoda/-ready-steady-lets-go-skoda-octavia-vrs-1.8-petrol-2002-year-/1114182565
  16. Quickest way to sort something post it on the internet saying you can't do it. To be fair it probably has never been out since it went in 14 years ago! Like you say wiggle wiggle jiggle sprayed a load of WD40 in it as well, just didn't want to end up knackering my key. Clean it up while it was out with a little file and it went in and came back out again no problem. Door card can wait for tomorrow, time for a pint!
  17. I have look at the other post, but just wanted to check the collar was in the correct position. Is it the tab at the top that secures the lock barrel in the door, should the lock be coming out. I have been wiggling and jiggling with the key with the handle pulled open but it's not moving at all, I have tried putting pressure on the back but to no avail.
  18. Thanks central locking now behaving itself
  19. Any news on the CCM or Dump Valve after oem
  20. How much for the convenience module and what revision is it? What dump valve is on it?
  21. Yes as far as I can remember, and I dont think I have binned the original one, so will change it out and see if it works. Didn't think about that
  22. Arse just changed the CCU to fix the indicator light staying on!
