  1. Picking it up tomorrow, I'm in the West Country so IOW is not too bad. The owner is bringing it over on the ferry anyway. Only had one owner who recently passed on. With 17k it's equivalent to less than 2 years old. The last Favorit I had only needed service stuff in the 2 years I owned it,(apart from an engine mount) and that had 60+ on the clock.
  2. Well, I bought it! Take a chance on the short mot, only done 17k so can't be many since last mot. £770 would be top money I guess, but as it's only half the cost to replace a failing deisel pump and ecu on the Citroen I have now, it must be worth a punt. I had one of these a few years back and it gave me many smiles per mile with technology I can fix. It's been a while since I had one, so can anyone tell me what the spares situation is like? As long as the service stuff is still available I'll be okay.
  3. To anyone reading this and thinking of joining....do it ... it's free. Owned an Estelle and a Rapid in the distant past. Needed cheap wheels in a hurry, £200 for a white Favorit with a dented door and 50k on the clock. 10,000 miles later and i'm wondering why i ever bought anything else. Goes anywhere (eventually) 40+ mpg, park it anywhere ... even supermarket car parks, without worrying. Only concern is..... do they all corner so badly?... the front end seems so soft when it tucks into a bend / roundabout.
  4. Firstly thanks for all the replies, it's good to know you're not alone when you get baffled like this. Have rotated wheels, see if it makes a difference.. will update. Out of interest, the car is fitted with Barum tyres all round, which I believe were original Skoda fitment ( I remember having these on my MZ... lethal in the wet). As it's such a lightweight car i guess any wobble/ vibration will be felt throughout the car. Contacted the original Skoda agent ( lost dealership when VW takeover dictated s****y showroom!!) he said that top engine mounting would have similar effect.. but it all looks fine to me. Only fault i can find is a split cv gaiter... but no play or knocking on full lock.
  5. Rear of my Favorit shaking, feels like buckled wheel. No noise, no movement on bearings when either side jacked up. Changed wheel with spare. It's worse at low speeds.. can be quite severe, seems to smooth out at 50, but there is still a vibration. Steering fine.. no wobbles, brakes fine, pulls up straight, checked rear shocks / springs/ rubbers., was suggested it could be engine dropped on mounting, so that it rested on subframe.. all mountings look good, it definitely feels like nearside rear. It's a '93, I've had the car a year done 10,000 miles and it still only has 60k on it. Please help if you can.. I'm having to borrow the works van... but much rather be Skoda ing. Thanks
