Looking to buy and could with some help
ezeekiel replied to ezeekiel's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
Psycholist, The issue for me is that I only commute 10 miles each way to work in outer London so can be stop-start. I guess at least once a month minimum It would get a long run on the motorway. I was thinking about getting VCDS. I assume that would let you keep an eye on the DPF and if it needs it in the evening take it out for a long run every now and then. I can see why people get them taken out if they fail and hope they can deal with MOT issues. -

I've got a bike, which I do use sometimes but its no fun in the winter! Still keeping my eye out but there are no petrols under 12k ( I only want elegance and DSG) unless you want the 3.6, which would be murder on fuel and tax. The issue is petrol and dsg is a tiny % of what they sold new :( so not much out there. I guess if I get the diesel I could be lucky or not. I could make an effort to take it out at the weekends to make sure it has time to get a regen in. -

Sent you a PM @Peanut18 -
Hi So a couple of weeks ago I was driving in the Netherlands and someone went into the back of my car hard while I was stopped at a red light. The car a Mk1 Octavia Vrs (modified, remap etc) is going to be written off :( . So I am looking for a new car and thinking of going for comfort now and a superb ticks that bill tho I am worried its going to feel slow! I want top spec so that means on elegances and I want to give DSG a go too as I think it suits the car (tho I haven't driven one yet). My commute is 10 miles each way in London, so stop-start etc with the odd long run at weekends. Is DPF much of an issue with the CR 170 around town? The other option is the 1.8T but they are so much rarer. I have seen a 2009 with 76K miles (more than I would like but I assume they are good for it?) Two question, Is mileage much of an issue with the 1.8T? What are the DSG gearboxes like with the miles as I would look to keep the car for 5 to 7 years. Do I need to look out for cambelts changes on this engine or the CR 170 or are they chains? Thanks

ezeekiel replied to ezeekiel's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Ok thanks for that guess I need to investigate more not sure what. But the fault are not linked then? As long as I know that I can deal with the secondary pump 1st. -

I do have a full blueflame system 200 cell about a year and a half old so the cat should be fine. -
The Cars thrown this up twice now so I know its not going to go away. 16804 Catalyst System Bank 1: Efficiency Below Threshold: P0420 16795 Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect Flow Detected : P0411 Well I know what the secondary air system is about, I have bought the forge backing plate and some fuses to remove the whole gubbins. But my question is really just to check that the cat error code is link to it? and no somthing else. Thanks for your help.

WRC Light pod (again....)
ezeekiel replied to Steevie Wonder's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
That not legal precedent, just there "view" so doest really matter, that's been around for ages and doesn't really matter. Anyway that not what I'm talking about under the new VOSA MOT guidelines, I was under the impression they would fail. -

HID, will fail MOT's from Jan I think :( so my set is going to have to come out. Must have headlight washers and auto-levelling. -
Hi Wayned, I've got a spare 42 Draft Designs adapter. I'd be happy to sell for cost + p&p if your interested.

They use castrol edge oil, and the change is probably cheaper than you can buy the oil for. -

where was that price list from? as the price list on the website is slightly different Any idea which one I should go for? (full exhaust, Tip, carbino ) I know about the intercooler and have done the piky wheel arch mod (dont know if it helps) but I don't really go on big hoons, more nice to have the extra grunt and usability of the power. if a cheap forge intercooler turns up 2nd hand might go for it, but not high on my list. (prefer to refresh the suspension first) Thanks

I was going to go stage 2 any way as I have exhaust and induction.
-
ah so they have lowered there prices a bit then by the sound of it, I guess less demand with hight petrol prices. Makes it more likely i will go and get mine done then!
-
All ready printed it off! Thanks its great when people do guides, make life so much easier so Thanks!
