  1. Just got an update, the latest failure is that both cats on her car have overheated and burnt out. How that happened no idea now.
  2. Thanks for your comments, the other driver was blaming my sister. My sister had a witness who said that the other driver was driving like a maniac before driving into my sister. Interestingly, the driver didn't say a word at the time and it was his partner who was doing all the talking and blaming my sister. Sister's Insurance company cited some previous similar case where the driver in same position as my sister lost the case so were saying it wasn't straightforward. Think the other driver tried to claim my sister drove into him. So impasse. Insurer claims they have done the necessary repairs and refused to acknowledge even the failed water pump. Hence, I wondered where else she can go to be heard.
  3. Yes, I think that is what the Honda garage said - the pump was original. Either it is bad timing or the crash sent it over the edge. What is more concernign is that the crash repairers probably drive the car with the pump dmaged and maybe this has caused the new problems that she has now got but the Honda garage should have spotted these when they did the replacement and changed the pump.
  4. Hi there, it is a Honda CRZ and it is 2011 I think. The £1600 is for the new work that is required. So basically, the insurance company has approved repairs for the damage from the crash which seemed to be mainly bodywork. Then my sister had to fork out for a new water pump which 'failed' when she drove away from the insurance repair place. Now she is looking at further £1600 to fix the issues relating to the issues that caused her car to break down the next day after picking up the car after the water pump replacement. Her car was running fine until the accident so she is peeved that due to an accident not her fault, subsequently, she has further failures which seem highly likely down to the accident and not picked up by the repairers and which the insurance people are adament are not down to the accident.
  5. Hi folks, Wondering if anyone can offer any advice. My sis was involved in a crash where she was on inside lane and driver came in from outside lane to get to an exit and smashed the side of her car (damage to drivers door and front wing). Looked like bodywork damage and after exchanging details etc. she drove off only for car to break down half an hour later due to loss of water in cooling system. ie. leak somewhere. Insurance took it away but other party say not their fault. Anyway, car got repaired but when she picked up, it overheated on way home. It seems that repairer only did bodywork repair and no mechanicals got done - this despite her putting on her claim form that she lost coolant. Car is a Honda and got taken to Honda dealer who said water pump knackered but refused to say it was result of crash so insurance company washed their hands of the issue. So she had to shell out for it to be replaced - when they took it out, the pump blades were shattered. Anyway, she got car back last night and it broke down again on way to work this morning. She is in bits. Honda dealer say it is a new issue and esitmates are for £1600 to fix! Can't help but think it is all the result of the smash. anyone know how this can be escalated back to the insurance people. Is only recourse the insurance ombudsman? I hope nobody has had to go through a similar experience but if anyone has any advice it would be appreciated. She is not with the AA or RAC so not sure if they would help. Cheers. KMC
  6. Never knew abou these online catalogues - thank you! Will have a look.
  7. Hi all, Have got a spare wheel kit for my wife's Fabia to replace the standard repair kit. The boot well has the threaded hole to take the screw thingy that would secure the wheel in the well but does anyone know where I can get the securing screw from - is it a dealer only job? Thanks for any help.
  8. Hi there, my wife just picked up her second hand Monte at the weekend. Late 14 reg so one of the last I think before the mk3 came out. She too liked the look because of the black roof and in her case, the red bodywork. Hers is the 86bhp 1.2TSI. Coming from her Kia Picanto which she had for 11 years, it's pretty much chalk and cheese and she is loving the Monte so far. More than enough poke for what she does. Rides well. Only negative is that with the low profile 17" alloys, tyre noise is a bit loud on rougher road surfaces. Her Monte comes with the maxidot which I think makes a big difference to the look of the dashboard - looks a bit more premium. Also came with rear parking sensors which are always useful and cruise control as well. Also has a front armrest but don't think it is much use in normal driving as it gets in the way of the handbrake. Picked up a spare wheel kit last night that I got on Ebay for £50 and now waiting for some floor mats. Just now hope that the car proves as reliable as the Picanto before it. I have had my Octy 2 for 10 years and my bruv has had a Roomster for 5 with no real issues so hoping it will be the same her Monte.
  9. Nice work you are doing on your car - looks good! Maxidot was always one of those things I would have liked on my Octy2. All the best with all the improvements you are doing. I will read with interest!
  10. Hi all, have driven my Octy 2 for 10 years now and have been on these forums for quite some time. Wife has been looking to change her car and completely coming left field, she test drove and has now put a deposit down on a 14 plate Fabia Monte Carlo when previously poo pahing having a Skoda!!! Anyway, just wanted to ask what was the standard spec of the Monte Carlo at this time. The car she is getting has got MDI, Maxidot, bluetooth, armrest and cruise control which I don't see mention all the time on other adverts for the Monte. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  11. On my Octy2, there is a pin that slides across to secure the fuel filler flap. If I have the flap open and activate the central locking, you can see the pin slide out and if I try to close the flap I can't as the pin is in the way. I don't know if it is the same system in the Superb3.
  12. Buy at a higher price AND still have to wait 12-14 weeks??? Sounds like your original car either never got built! If that's the case, they should have told you earlier. Really sorry to hear that the NCD issue spread to other brokers.
  13. I would still like to know if anyone has ordered from Buyanynewcaronline when their prices were even cheaper than NCD and whether those orders are still being honoured. If they are, then it can't just be a price issue.
  14. Has anybody ordered from Buyanynewcar and had their order cancelled as up to a few days ago, their prices were actually cheaper than NCD!
  15. I have noticed that buyanewcar.co.uk have now reduced their discount on Superbs as well as pulling the Superb SE Business variants from their lists. Looks like Skoda are tightening things up. I wonder about pulling the SE Business version as when I spoke to my local dealer, they said they could sell them to Joe Public.
