  1. EBC green didn't cure mine so put TRW on plus caliper and only heard it very faint a couple of times in 5 months before i got rid. I think if i replaced the cable i would've nver heard anything, but 99% cure is better than nothing.
  2. Well the mooing is mostly due to the adjustment on the caliper internals on the cable not returning to from the applyed position which then allows the pads to vibrate creating the noise. The Pads are from factory squared off ends on the pads but Lucas TRW who make them have superceeded that part to the chamfered edge p/no gdb1330 for the aftermarket at about
  3. The golfs shorter link bars are more suitable as less flex goes thru them under hard cornering or ask for the spherical link bars (allow for more movment while retaining rigidity) whiteline no is KLC050
  4. The SEAT forum have done this on Ibiza's mostly, but once done if your engine decides to over boost i believe you have then taken away a safety device to stop detonation as boost is not governed. Live with it or buy another car
  5. The roll bar just takes the twitchyness alot further up the speed range before you feel it (much more stable) it also helps turn in response. Whiteline are probobly the best value all round ARB as under £150 and has 4 points of adjustment. The first 2 are for std suspension or cars with std frt roll bar, the other 2 are for increased turn in and oversteer in std car, or if had shocks and frt bar fitted it balances the car out for a more neutral drive while still giving increased turn in and less roll. Don't be fooled with products that have large OS bars as these are usually not solid bars and are not as good or no different to smaller stiffer bars while charging more for them. Buy one you will never regret it
  6. The Whiteline adjustable frt and rr bars are really good takes all the roll out plus giving a small amount of tunability for understeer oversteer to your liking. If going for these you will need shorter link bars usually advised when ordering. The S3 lower frt strut brace is about £25 ish and works really well.
  7. My work, it retails at £33 5lt but can get online direct at Lucas Oil go to uk distributor If no one local.
  8. Any oil that has SM spec or VW 507 will have the highest protection for the vw engine. I personnally switch to Lucasoil 10w30 racing oil as exceded all specs for that engine but as stated in hundreds of posts 0w30 upto 10w40 is more than fine and is very reliable just don't buy cheap asda sh#t.
  9. After youv finished fitting you will defo need camber and caster adjusted. You cannot do this at side of road so would advise a specialist garage, cost will be about £50-100. If you dont and try by sight alone you will have spent all that money for nothing. Handling is nothing if its not set up correctly. Pro Grip Falkirk, Star performance kirkaldy, ccs autotyres sighthill edinburg, are the only one i know that have the most upto date calibrated ramps (not ure kwikfit set up but professional 10-20k worth) Do it properly and enjoy:thumbup:
  10. Can't say that Drivers are crap as had very good sevice from them, also if anybody bothered to look inside you'll find only top end car owners go there. Last time there were 3 porsche gt2,carrera an SL amg merc,x5, M5, my little octavia and a civic. They wouldn't go there if they were crap, in those circles your reputation is over if you muck it up and they haven't. As for prices they are no worse than STAR performance or Jabba at about £500. Remember Revo are not a poor clone of other companies hard work. The same goes with Star with top quality mapping from a company who has been moddifing for more than 20years, not just jumped on the band wagon when it got easy. Choose wisely and remember if its cheep its for a reason. The company may not be there when somthing goes wrong in the future. Stick to established Tuners who have done the rounds for a few years. Also what about Bluefin, re-mapp as good as any top tuner but you can plug it in your self select the program that suits your car spec and away you go. Sorted:thumbup:
  11. Whiteline bars are quality stuff, had one on my VRS and found it stopped the rear being twichy, giving more stable high speed cornering. If you fit front adj bar with the rear (frt on min rear on max) it transformes the behaviour with very limited understeer and vitually illiminates body roll.
  12. I solved the problem on mine by buying a Focus St, now its sweet all the way:thumbup:
  13. Yipp the quality in some are shocking but Magnex have never been that good anyway but there Brand name was always near the top for the uk. it just shows you you need more than a name to survive. I think thats why i won't go past Supersprint, they might cost more but they are exeptional quality.
  14. Just been informed that both Peco and Magnex have had the creditors in and are now stopping all new orders. The word is they have been hit hard with cheap imports and high uk costs over the last couple of years, magnex lost millions last year and its obvious this year just took its toll. Peco was in buisness for 40 odd years and had no rumours flying they were in trouble as i only found out when trying to order a back box for a customer and only a message informing us the creditors had been called in. I am sure both companies will find buyers but not sure what will happen as regards to Warranty claims (not that peco had many). Its a shock that 2 of the biggest names over the last 20 yrears have been hit in britain, who's next i wonder?? Also GP automotive have gone, they were uk importer for Splitfire, denso, Brembo
  15. Sorry to hear. My suggestion is to pick a really nasty speed bump in your area and claim off the council for ripping your sump off. If it doesn't work out your no worse off than before.
  16. ignore that part just fit a beather filter to that pipe and you sorted. p.s. I hate fife
  17. Sorry 225hp no chance without having already fitted with quality exhaust, expect 210. stay clear of custom builds as not been designed specifically for that engine characteristics, much better to stay with the best Miltek or Supersprint as been designed from the ground up thru many weeks of development on the rollers and Dyno chambers to get the best flow rate, power gains, noise levels (legal). As the car is so clean is seems a shame to muck it up with S#it products.
  18. Recirculating valve only for these engines not Blow off, enclosed filters are better like the BMC CDA as they dont suffer from heat soak (real life driving not rolling road with bonnet up) exhaust recommend the like of Supersprint 2.5 " or Miltek as the best quality and proven gains on this engine , cat by- pass make no more gains than a quality sport cat but they do cost a lot less. Get a re-mapp after these are done and 220+hp are obtainable.
  19. My mapped vrs on a daily run to work and back, 12 miles travelling twisty B roads got about 250-270 more if i cruized which is very rare i would see 300-330miles. Now that i have the ST focus i see 230 to a tank back in forth to work, not been on a run yet but losing 30 odd miles isn't bad for 2.5 litre and these figures are based on 99ron @ 119p. I dont see the point and buying a Hot Hatch, modding it and then driving like a granny if you can't afford to run the car you have without serious compromises on driving then get the bus.
  20. Is the car a 20v turbo, if so the breather pipe (corrigated plastic pipe) that slots in to the oe air box is were the breather filter goes on to, 25mm end. Just cable tie the pipe to the one next to it for support and your sorted.
  21. compairing a S2000 to a vrs is all wrong, 2 completly different cars. the s2000 is a N/A engine the vrs is forced induction. Both have good points and there bad points (not including the fact one is a 2 seater soft top). I have been on a 350mile run with a Honda Club (girl has a ctr) but took my vrs. Friend owns an s2000, and with 230hp vrs i was just keeping up and mine had koni/whitline suspension his was std. If it wasn't for the fact the run organiser was setting a respectable pace the s2k would have trouced me, and iam not slow by any means biut , if you get in real tight twisties the s2k cant put the power down effectively to pull away but sweeping b roads it comes into its own, but its got to be Dry not wet. Both cars are good but the s2k is just better. Even when you spend 5k on the vrs the s2k with 5k spent and a supercharger or throttlebodies if a purest would still be a force, plus the best 4cyl engine ever built sounds so much better when at 9000 rpm. Iam a Honda fan and a skoda fan but out and out performance and engineering reliability from a std car has to go to Honda, you don't see many post on there forums with problems unlike Vag which has problems on every page. Honda wins this one
  22. Ok having not owned an evo or a skoob but owned a mk1 vrs 230hp ish i have to say the vrs has no chance. The power delivery thru the front wheels is shocking unless ftted with a Lsd, 4wd always win in that catagory. 230 vrs against an evo 4-9 standard thru gears straight line or twisties would be left behind. The vrs chassis just hasn't got the geometry set up to match the japs pedigree standard or modified. I drove Whiteline's skoob a RA model running about 300hp and can honestly say nothing running a MK5 golf chassis would stand a chance. Graham (whitline part owner with Job gevers) sayed they did'nt need over this power due to the chassis being so good. He has proved it time and time again on track days against cars running 4-500hp and has past them all due to there chassis's not coping, it also relies on a good driver of course, a good driver in a **** car can beat a crap driver in a good car, no matter what powers in it.
  23. the blocks are the same but pistons and crank changed for 225 compression ratio, bigger injectors, Maf sensor has 3" ranther than 2.5 (less problems with sensor) twin cats used for downpipe, bigger turbo, inlet pipe is bigger,4bar fuel regulator, Mapping different, twin intercoolers, basically a better engine which takes more power for less money. Apart from cupra R using it, its a souly Audi incarnation.
  24. Just wondered who now ownes my yello octy 02 vrs, last 3 digits wxy. I traded it in at Ford Edingburgh (worst mistake but thats another story). I left all the reciepts for the mods and just wondered if the new owner recieved them when car was bought, and are they enjoying it.
