  1. Thanks James Can you recall the eventual source of the fuel system with your Master? Steve
  2. Hi everyone Thought this would be the best place to ask as everybody here is so helpful. Long story short I need my ECU checked over/repaired for my 2008 Renault Master with 145,000 miles. It had the head skimmed in October and since it came back it's had no boost until around 2.3k when it comes in strongly. This was drivable although very slow as the next gear up was then below the higher boost point - full loads were a nightmare. I went back to the garage who whilst agreeing it was low on power and down on MPG, said because there were no fault codes they couldn't do a thing about it. I suggested the ECU to them then, but again computer says no... To be fair to them they haven't charged me for the head work until we get to the bottom of this issue so I have no reason to doubt them. So I drove around 4k miles/3 months with the boost issue and apart from that it ran just fine. A few weeks ago I drove it 30 miles, parked it up. Went to move it ten minutes later and pressing the throttle pedal did nothing. There wasn't even enough oomph to move the empty van on tickover. AA chap came out and showed me that the ECU read the throttle movement but wasn't passing it on. He could also move the throttle body via the laptop so that is fine. During my 8 hour wait for the right vehicle to pick me up the van stopped ticking over so it's now not running at all. So as the garage has a 6 week waiting time I asked them to remove the ECU (which they've done) so I can at least eliminate/repair that during that period. I have been given the number of BBA Reman by a knowledgeable source who uses them. I have just looked at the google reviews and it's not good! Agreed people are more likely to air negative experiences than good but still, the score is quite low. Who can forum members recommend to give my ECU a once over and a genuine repair if required? Many thanks in advance Steve
  3. Right I think I have found something for the BMM courtesy of ATP Electronics BMM has a Bosch EDC 16U34 "system" (can anybody explain?) of which there are seven variants. The EDC 16U34 belongs to BMM, BXE, BLE, BKC, BLS and AZV - a mixture of 1.9 and 2.0. The OE ref numbers change with the last 4 digits and the VM (?) ref numbers change with the last two letters. According to wikipedia, the "2.0 R4 8v TDI PD 47-103kW...has...Bosch EDC 16 or EDC 17 or Siemens VDO SIMOS PPD1 electronic engine control unit (ECU) with altitude compensation... DIN-rated motive power & torque outputs, ID codes 100 kilowatts (136 PS; 134 bhp) @ 4,000 rpm; 310 newton metres (229 lbf·ft) @ 1900 rpm — BGW, BHW 103 kilowatts (140 PS; 138 bhp) @ 4,000 rpm; 320 newton metres (236 lbf·ft) @ 1,750-2500 rpm — BMM, BMP" So I'm now more confused than ever. Thanks to all but I think I'll just stick with a rebuilt BMM! Steve
  4. Well, many thanks to all concerned for their replies! My question could have been better put and a couple of replies have summed it up for me: I know that almost anything is possible given time, patience and money but the garage has as little as possible of the first two as I have little of the third. So in the hope that somebody knows the answer, I'll rephrase my query: Are other PD140 engine codes compatible with the BMM ecu - ie would the BMM ecu be plug and play with the other PD140 engine codes? If not, would a non BMM PD140 engine and ecu be plug and play with what wiring harnesses remained on the Scout after the BMM was removed? I'm keen to whip the dpf off for obvious reasons, and I would probably get the replacement engine remapped if that's any help. Surely the corresponding ecu's have codes/serial numbers too? Thanks for the find, but my pockets don't quite stretch that far!! But I'm sure that the gearbox housing will be the same as other six speeds, it'll be the internals that will be different. Or will it with the haldex... I'm regretting thinking about this now! Steve
  5. Thanks for the prompt response karlos That saves me a bit of time and money then! Steve
  6. Hi all I'm looking to be educated in PD140 engine code numbers! A garage local to me is getting in what I believe is a 2008 Scout with a blown engine so I'm looking for advice on possible improved engine replacements for it whilst deciding to take the plunge or not; I don't have time to fiddle with cars so the garage would be doing the engine change. Therefore any extra info I can gather as evidence to deviate from a like for like swop would be very much appreciated. As I understand it, the Scout has the BMM engine with DPF. I believe that there are other PD140 engines that do not require a DPF (possibly the BKD and/or BKP) so would this be a relatively straightforward transplant and could the original ECU still be used? If not, are there any tricky harness conversions, etc? My initial thought was to drop in a PD170 but I understand that would be rather more involved. All help and advice is very much welcome. Thanks Steve
  7. Hi I'm after a car to tide me over for a few months so a few usual queries... Do have any history with the car? Was the water pump changed along with the belt? Any rust coming through? Anything else worth mentioning? Thanks
  8. Have both bought and sold new handsets via ebay with no issues at all. I've even met a Briskoda member in a supermarket carpark to buy a new phone from him. Tis like everything in life - if you're comfortable doing it, do it. If you're not comfortable and not prepared to push yourself or take a chance, then don't!
  9. In his defence, he does say ...."i pimped the interior of my 05 elegance with nice results, (see pictures in that topic) but this may work for other skoda models...." And I CAN see the pictures! I'm off to the Superb section to see what he's on about
  10. Sorry, I missed this post. Aye, twas the auction at Phantassie indeed. The farm's looking in a right sorry state since last time I was there some years ago. Suppose it'll be turned into townies-living-in-the-country-but-close-together-cos-they're-scared-of-the-dark steading conversion soon though. And apparently the damaged tank went for very little......
  11. Been in storage for a while but finally realised that I'm never going to use it. Pictures first: Just over 33" wide (carcass) and just under 33" tall. Was in perfect working order when removed from house some three years ago. Local kerbside delivery may be possible for a fee (with van) dependant on labour at your end but agreed upon beforehand. May be able to deliver between East Lothian and York (for fee) but you must have the means to get it off my van - has been moved in the past with a ramp as van is lower than an average van. Otherwise collection only. Viewing possible everyday at North Berwick. Ta
  12. Thanks for the advice, and for the contact details rwbaldwin. Aye, I'm talking about a freestanding tank, and the fit for purpose/Environmental Agency points were my reasons for asking as I would not like to get involved with anything that involves them. Building a frame work around it would be asking for attention too! But good points nevertheless. Anyway, turns out the auction was this morning and not tomorrow morning, so at least now I'm better informed should such an item come up again! Thanks again
  13. I'm in need of a bunded kero tank for new business premises, and a 2,500l tank has come up at a local auction, but the outer shell is damaged - cracked and a hole. Does anybody know how strong plastic welding actually is? The damage is at the bottom rrear of the tank (I think a fork has gone through it whilst movng it to auction) so in the unlikely event of the inner tank rupturing, the repair would bear the full weight/pressure of potentially 2,500l of kero.....assuming I can ever afford to fill it up at today's prices! Anybody have any experiences?
  14. The guy eating is obviously too cool for words......
