  1. My perfect car would be a scout. It would be an L & K spec with DSG paddle shift Tfsi engine and sat nav. There, simple. Oh and if I must, keyless entry and sunroof.
  2. Hi, I had an A4 (and A2 and A3n 3.2 dsg) and liked the cars but there were just so many about I thought they were a bit too common. I went on to a Vrs petrol and was impressed with the engine. I then got a L & K 2.0 diesel dsg but am niow missing the Vrs and am looking to go back when the new one comes out with dsg and paddle shift. Petrol engine is nicer sounding/driving but the diesel makes more sense for the mpg and the range.
  3. I recently had my taken there after a head on when a driver collapsed at the wheel and ran into my car. The bodyshop were very quick and thorough when examining my car and the estimate for the damage was sent off to the insurers the day after the4y got the car. They also found some minor bits and pieces I had forgotten were in the car which they returned to me. The car was written off so I cannot say what the bodyshop is like from that side but the manager, Simon, I think, was very helpful and efficient. I also dealt with DM Keith at Wakefield and found there service spot on and its easier to park there!
  4. Looks like a 2 litre 170 common rail diesel DSG would be an excellent replacement for my L & K (RIP). Anyone heard of the prices/ spec yet, I have registered my interest with Skoda GB.
  5. Acording to skoda website it is the replacement for the 2.0 PD 170. I have just read elswhere on the forum that paddle shift is coming in September so may be bad idea to get one now without!
  6. Dear all, I had a TFSI Vrs hatch then traded for a new L & K DSG 2.0 which was kindly modified by a head on shunt with uninsured driver. I can say catagorically how good the accident protection is in these cars as both airbags went off and the car had 11k damage and I was uninjured. So to the point do I order a Vrs CRD DSG or go for a Scout PD. Anyone any knowledge on the new CRD and if its any good etc.
  7. Darren, I had a petrol Vrs TFSI when they first came out and loved it. It did 32-33mpg over the 16000 miles I ran it and when I sold it I bought a diesel L & K. There are positives and negatives to both cars so get the one you like to drive best. If you love to use the revs to the red line and hear the exhaust note get the petrol and don't worry about the fuel. If you don't want all ther revs of a petrol and don't mind the noise of the diesel then go for that confident that you get good residuals and decent mpg. Either way you are picking a cracking car. Enjoy!
  8. I have a Tom Tom 910 and in its original case when not in use I hide it in the ashtray. To do this means you have to take the ashtray out but it just squeezes in tight. My car had a DSG so is parked with the gear lever up against the closed ashtray so to speak. This keeps it out of sight and is difficult to remove without shifting the gearlever out of park which needs the keys. Obviously I bung it on the windscreen to use but it is a good hidey hole.
  9. Just a suggestion, but I used to get steaming up problems in a works mondeo quite a lot. Best way to clear it was leave the air con on for a while. This should dry up the inside of the car but it all depends on how far you are driving each time. If it is a short distance and you have the air con on then it can steam up when you turn it off, my advice would be to run the car with air con for a while to see if this helps.
  10. I'd run the aircon for half an hour once a month just to keep it fresh and the bearings lubricated. The air con also demists the car when its wet outside. I have set my last 3 cars at 19.5cent and havn't had to touch it other than to put the econ button off when its warmer outside the car than 19.5 or to de mist it. Other than that the system regulates the temp automatically and is very good.
  11. I don't know if this is any use but I had an Audi A3 3.2 quattro with DSG. I ran it for 2 yrs and it had a 'launch control' function where you turned off the traction control put it in sport mode, held the car on the footbrake, put 3000 revs on the clock then took your foot off the brake. Mine was an ex demonstrator and obviously had this done several times and I had no problems. I had such faith in the dsg I bought another one.
  12. As the plate is not road legal a buyer may insist on geting it re done before buying so I would take it off to save any problems and sell it on.
  13. I have had a blue Audi A4 a silver A3 and a black Vrs Tfsi and drove a white Vrs at work. If you like washing a car get the black, if not, the blue is the business (In spite of that I got a black L & K)
  14. I don't know if this will help but, I had 3 Audi's befoer I got into Skoda and they all came as standard with the long life oil in with variable service ie the car tells you when the service is due. I then got the new Vrs Tfsi and automatically thought that this would be the same. I was then told that the dealer always sets the cars to yearly servicing or 10K miles as standard and you have to specify when ordering that you want the long life oil leaving in. I have done this on my Tdi L & K this time!
  15. I have spoken to the dealer and booked car in for Monday. They are aware of the headlight problem with misting up but not heard of the fog lamps problem. As it is under warranty I will let them sort it out.
  16. I have an Octavia Estate L & K and the front nearside fog light has misted up. I had this with previous Audi cars which had to be replaced under warranty. Does anyone know if they can be dried out and sealed or is it a case of replacement. I have tried leaving them on for a bit as it has been foggy recently but this has not worked. Any ideas?:(
  17. Mathew, I had the TFSI vrs for nearly 2 years and averaged 33mpg doing what you now do. As long as the engine doesn't labour it is fine. I have a 3.2 v6 Audi A3 before and was suprised at how well the vrs pulled at low revs.
  18. Hi Susan, Have you tried opening and closing the boot lid, I am thinking that the contacts for the wiper may be dirty or have something on one of them. Other than that it may be a case of a fuse going but i do not know if the washer is on the same fuse.
  19. The number plates are illegal. Bit boring but the regs say it has to be the new plastic ones with BSAU 145d stamped on them with the manufacturer of the plates name and post code or tel number. The font has to be charles wight or very similar. This was brought in a few years ago so that they can be read by computer.
  20. Roo Good stuff and useful but I am sad and read the owners manual. The coming home lights stay on for 40 secs set at the factory but you can change the period yourself by going into the MFD display and going into settings. You can then choose the delay time the lights stay on from off to 40 secs. I know thia as my sister was always being told she had left hers on so when I got my car I reduced the time down to 20secs.
  21. Thanks for that, I tend to get more mpg than most people so you have set me a target now to aim for. My vRS 2.0T averaged 33 during the time I owned it. Does the consumption get better when it has a few miles on. I had an Audi Avant 130tdi and averaged around the 45-48mpg mark.
  22. Hello, I have just traded an Octavia 2.0Vrs hatch for a 2.0tdi L & K dsg estate for all the bells and whistles it has as standard. This is the new factory L & K as opposed to my sisters British ugraded Elegence badged as L & K. Still with low miles but pulls well and is doing 41-42mpg.
