  1. 04 Furby owned from new Now just had 110,000k service From memory...................rear door seals when still under warranty along with repainted front bumper(well known vrs fault), new steering rack. Hose to rear wash wipe kept coming off but sorted that with a small zip tie. Still on original clutch/exhaust Had front discs replaced for first time during 110,000k service Oh and the brake pedal switch/sensor went bringing on the glow plug light. Seems to have a penchant for headlamp bulbs occasionally too To sum up....................a thoroughy excellent little car. Defo had our moneys worth and its still going strong. Front console bushes do need replacing tho..........advisory for past two MOTs lol
  2. Oh and it just beeps and shows 'tape eject' when i press the ejct button but does nothing
  3. Hi there i recently tried one of those cassettes that allow you to play through your ipod via a cable running from ipod to cassette(sure you know what i mean!). It didn't play, display shows 'mechanic' and it now won't eject the cassette. Any ideas? Cheers me dears! Jim
  4. Hi everyone. The wife's '04 Furby now has 110k on the clock and the past two MOT's have advised on the front lower rear wishbone bushes. Next MOT is due in March '11 and i reckon it may fail this time. It's feeling a little loose. What suitable upgrades are around as i always felt it could do with tightening up(we've had it from new), and are there any problems with harder bushes popping out? Cheers me dears! Jim
  5. You'll see also that i did have a type r once too. Was new so may have been tight still when i got rid (only 8k on clock). vRS and leon defo quicker in straight line. Jim:thumbup:
  6. I currently run a mk1 vrs with revo generic map. Approx 210bhp and 232 lb/ft I used to run a mk1 leon cupra tdi with revo generic map. Approx 190bhp and 290 lb/ft I average low 40's tootling to work and back and low to mid 30's when giving it some in the octy. I averaged mid to high 40's tootling to work and back and high 30's when giving it some in the leon. In a straight drag race i would say they are very similar but above 80 or so the leon certainly felt quicker, it just kept pulling and pulling regardless of load. Once murdered a Civic Type r going down to Goodwood on the motorway. Silly speeds were involved ahem. It did mince the clutch after 15k tho on a new car. The vRS has more engine character and practicality but the leon handles better. I see my old leon most days and i think the vRS looks classier in a conservative kind of way. Leon's brakes look puny compared to vRS! If longterm savings are your aim then i would say definately consider tdi option. Jim:thumbup:
  7. Thank you everyone. Hopefully get sorted soon. Russ, paintcodes on their way. Cheers again Jim:thumbup:
  8. Hi i asked my local specialist the other day to get me 2 paint touch up pens, one for my silver 04 mk1 octy vRS, and one for the wifey's red 04 furby. As stated above he came back to me and stated that Skoda don't list such items for my cars. He suggested halfords. This can't be right surely, i'll never get a proper match. Anyone got any experience of this? Cheers Jim:thumbup:
  9. I had my front passenger airbag disabled for the same reason. The airbags have their own ecu and using vagcom the bag can be disabled by simply plugging in. No warning light issues either. Ask your local specialist, as has been stated official skoda approach is different. Jim;)
  10. I remember being slightly underwhelmed when i 1st got my mk1 vRS but as has been stated the power delivery is very linear. I soon found out for a fact tho that it was a match for a similar aged 325i coupe in a straight line;) This told me it was delivering the performance it should. Now with revo stage 1 i have to recommend it to you. Jim:D
  11. Absolutely go for it. You have actually been very sensible and sorted the handling out 1st whereas a lot of people go for more power first ( me! ). The difference it will make is significant and as stated you can go back and have a custom remap to make the most of any hardware you add later. If the car is nice and healthy think 30+ bhp and 50+ lb/ft for around £400 upwards. Happy days Jim:thumbup:
  12. Yes basically this is what i'm talking about. It doesn't make a noise but there is play in the mounts somewhere. The only noise i have is a slight sqeak when i shut the door. This could still be the arb mounts i suppose even tho they are new. The arb itself did show some signs of corrosion. Jim
  13. Joy of joys another job to do then! Cheers people:thumbup: Jim
  14. Hi having recently replaced front arb bushes and drop links on my mk1 octy vrs i am very happy with the difference HOWEVER, i still have an intermittant sqeak when closing driver's door, so being aware of the problems with rad mounts on these cars i checked mine today to find it moves about and rattles rather a lot when i grab hold of it and try to move it. Is this a sign of the dreaded rad mounts going south or is it normal? Cheers Jim:thumbup:
  15. Hi i had my front nearside bearing done not too long ago. If you buy original i seem to remember the cost was around £50 plus fitting. Jim
