  1. Joeski those looms are poor, Skoda should be ashamed of these products they are not fit for purpose, the smallest wires are too thin and with constant bending (ie door opening) they are not up to the job........If I was a cynical b I might suggest someone somewhere reckoned on this as a nice little revenue stream, a few years down from the production line.
  2. Looking again at the door today, have put another door lock onto wiring socket (door lock not fitted to door)but although it will lock via fob key will not unlock, so guesses are the loom could be the likely culprit !. ( Rear nsr roomster MK1 door six pin socket into door lock)
  3. Get someone to use the key to open/shut doors on the drivers door while you put your ear on the offending door. As for my problem have had the card off last weekend on the door to take pic of door lock for serial number, however if the loom is at fault it should not be too bad too replace. I wonder if SKODA HQ have a test bed for certain products, you know the sort of thing they have at IKEA where a drawer is pulled in and out with a weight in it, if they did this sort of test on Roomster door I wonder how many open and shut operations you would get before the loom failed ?.
  4. You could be right about the loom, however it will still be necessary to smash out lock to view gaitor and replace lock. As for the looms about 12-13 months back had to replace the loom on drivers door so it could be deju-vu !!. By the way can you hear the door locking sound in that door when using the key(nearside rear) i can....... don't know if that's a good omen ?.
  5. You can't say these Roomsters give you a minute of rest !, My lock mechanism has gone faulty door locked inside and out,key fob will lock doors and unlock boot, light comes on inside as usual........all this has been on this forum a few times in the past with other peoples cars but I will need to get a new part, plenty of them on ebay but they do not tally up with my part number (took the door card off yesterday and somehow took a pic of the lock to get part no) my part number is 5J7839015A anyone out there had to replace this item ?, looks like buying one from a Skoda dealer unless someone out there has any ideas, many thanks.
  6. Used that item today and although it looks too big it works just fine when you give a twist and find that locking point on socket !, many thanks.
  7. Hi there, Just got round to replacing inner steering rods on my 2009 mk1 roomster, got the osf rod off to be replaced by the new one however new one looks to be bigger thread size and does not fit rack, I think I have read that 2 different steering racks were fitted to these cars over the production run the serial no on the old rods are WD318J06, I looked up that number on Google but no joy !, can anyone help on this one ? ps the new rods are borg and beck BTR 5166
  8. Thanks for that, have ordered one item looks good and should improve steering.
  9. Hi there been offline for a while, Just hope someone can help, have bought some new inner rods for steering rack and looking to purchase tool from ebay to remove rods, the type I want to buy slips over existing rod and mates up with big nut on ball joint knuckle, now the rods I have bought measure 35mm one flat to the other (borg and beck aka direct line inner rods) are the existing old rods on the car the same size ?, should I buy the 35mm to 45mm inner rod removal tool. Sorry if this all a bit looks long winded !!!
  10. Hi all, Saturday gone thought now is the time to change the bush on my 2009 Roomster, had all the parts ready to go and so got on with it, problems started when trying to remove the longish bolt control arm/bracket (19mm spanner) it was tight right from the start and seemed to take for ages to try to remove just when thing are getting serious up the path comes a salesman offering to give me a price on tarmac drive......and I was tearing my hair out as the bolt had sheared, but he was rabbiting on about tarmac etc !!!!. Anyway removed whole assembly with a view to getting what was left of that sheared bolt in a heavy vice to see if that would loosen it.....no chance slipping chewing but no movement with that bolt, did get it out in the end but butchered the alloy bracket. Have purchased a new alloy bracket from GSF for £64, But my problem now is the bolt for the assembly, anyone know where I can get one and what should I be asking for ?. (the bolt that needs a 19mm spanner). Silvafelicia.
  11. Thanks for those reply's, I think that fully chipped 2nd key is the only answer.......an unchipped key might open door but as you say could pose alarm problems. Thanks Silvafelicia.
  12. Hi there, Newbie to Roomster ownership and the question I would like to ask is will a blank key (unchipped) cut from my master key work (ie open the drivers door ?) you may have seen these on ebay for a few pounds, I wonder if there are electronics involved as well as the key action. By the way very happy with the roomster, still running my 1.6 2000 Felicia but what a difference !. Skoda Roomster 1 2009 1.4 16v petrol Thanks Silvafelicia
  13. Thanks Uma, I will get those tyres balanced see if that cures problem, as for the slow water loss I will keep an eye out, I have used k seal in the past on the engine after a previous water problem (thermostat failed) and in the end replaced head gasket but temp is still a bit high i.e electric fan cutting in sometimes when in queuing traffic, I wonder if that k seal stuff blocks up the waterways a bit ?. Thanks Silvafelicia
  14. Any thoughts on the balancer weight on driveshaft ?, I mention this as the last long journey I made I was getting vibration at 55mph plus and I realize this could be due to wheels, tyres but I cannot remember the problem with the car before. I am pretty sure that the balancer weight should be clamped up tight on shaft......but I might be wrong !. Thanks Silvafelicia. :wonder:
  15. Hi All, Some overdue work on my Felicia cat was needed, came off reasonably easy after a little persuading pipe with a stiltson. The old cat was blowing at the flexible braided joint so a new cat was purchased off ebay at around £82. Couple of things were spotted during the exhaust replacement and maybe someone can help me out on this, my car is a W reg 1.6 Felicia and i noticed on offside drive shaft the balancer assembly mounted on the drive shaft can be turned by hand,(not sideways on shaft) is this normal or should the balancer assembly be bolted up solid ?. Secondly my Felicia uses a little water but nothing dramatic, no mayonaise under oil filler cap but I did notice what might be described as weepage on the bottom corner of radiator nearside, could be that slow coolant loss could be from this spot. Recent renewal of cam belt and water pump in the last month or so, the old water pump lasted less than 30 months (purchased from Jorilly) Thanks from Silvafelicia.
