  1. graham c's post in boot release catch was marked as the answer   
    only 2 screws on the 2007/8 car that are behind the hazard warning triangle. used screw driver between the trim and the body work to lever apart the trim from the body work 4 clips on the plastic trim at the top, then could see the unit. too many wires etc for me to start trying to fix so getting skoda to fix it in the next couple of days.

    Other points of interest
    using michelin energy saver tyres 205/55/16/91h managed 40000 miles
    going to replace with same energy saver plus, 91v slightly better value at the moment £80 approx each fitted will get a discount as its a taxi maybe £72 each
    Also water in the passenger side well caused by not replacing the battery cover jet washes plus lots of rain 2" in the back, dried it out with news paper , read on topics here what the problem was and which unit and wires would be the problem (the rear wiring) took it to a taxi signage place who put in meters radios cameras etc told them what the problem was one hour later all rewired ( they are use to removing trims in all vehicles ) and working well.
