  1. Hello all, having owned 5 octavia's I think I've finally cracked this issue. If it's the boot seal filling with water (check by squeezing it and see if water shoots out the holes); then you need to make some on the bottom of the seal so it can drain. I did this with a revolving leather hole punch tool; easy to find and purchase, designed for punching a hole in leather. I chose the size that matched the exisiting holes, then popped the tool in the exisiting hole, and punched down, thus making a hole is the bottom of seal. No more soppy boot! I did this in line with the exisiting holes, but you could do as many as you want. Works a treat. Good luck :)
  2. Thought so, only a tenner. Might as well get it sorted. Cheers.
  3. Evening all, gave my 2007 Octavia II 1.9TDI a damn good servicing today, changed all the fluids, and replaced the brakes all round. Very satisfying. However, when changing the oil, I noticed the below small leak coming from the back of the engine, as you look up lying underneath. It's very slow currently but want to sort it. Any ideas where it's coming from? Could it be the valve cover gasket?
  4. Oh no, what noob. No bulb! I Put the old one in and worked fine! Why someone would sell a new indicator without a bulb in it is beyond me.....
  5. Thanks Guys Does the mini loom control the indicator as well? If so I doubt it's damaged as the indicator works fine. Um - I must confess I assumed a bulb was present rather than checked........he says whilst heading outside
  6. Hi all, Somewhat confused. An end of a bell kicked my wing mirror off a couple of weeks ago. After stripping it down it needed a new indicator/puddle light only (bonus). After buying a new nearside indicator/puddle light off ebay for £30 and fitting it, the puddle light doesn't work on this side, but is fine on the driver's side. Any ideas?
  7. Hi there, Does anyone have VCDS in the vicinity of High Wycombe? I bought my car in April and seems the dealer set it to fixed rather variable servicing. I'm going to do the service myself but can't reset it to variable without VCDS. Also would welcome any other interesting tweeks that could be made..... Happy to travel a bit, all help gratefully received
  8. Ok great, thanks. Will that cover all bases?
  9. Ahh I see could well have no been reset, might call them and check. I'm happy to do this, just not sure which servicing regime I'm on, want to make sure I use the right oil.
  10. Oh I see, didn't say although might give them ring and check. Well I drive about 80 miles a day 2/3 motorway 1/3 country roads, and I'm no slouch. I don't speed off at the lights but I cruise at a reasonable speed and tackle the country lanes at fair lick. I do average 50mpg actual though so can't be too bad.
  11. Oh right, maybe that's the ticket then, get someone to check. They did use 5W/30 on the last service which I think is used for fixed.
  12. Hmm ok, so maybe it has been changed to fixed? It's started asking now for a service.
  13. Hi there, I replaced my older Octavia I with a 2007 Octavia II 1.9TDI, with 22,000m on the clock in April this year. It's been owned by an older chap who did hardly any miles a year, so he serviced it annually. Anyway I bought it with 22,899 miles on the clock, with a fresh service just done. It's now on 29,949 and it's asking for a service? After only 7,222 miles! The boot sticker says QG1, and the bits of the history that are at a Skoda dealer say variable. Any ideas why it's asking for a service now? Thought variable was around 15,000m or so?
  14. Good suggestion, that'll help keep the costs down, cheers.
