  1. Hi guys, It's been a while since I last posted. A new forum has recently been setup for all things motorsport. If anyone is interested in joining this newly created forum here is the link:- Clip The Apex
  2. Petition to: Reduce Fuel duty to bring fuel prices back to an acceptable level. Probably will make no difference but worth a go none the less... Chris.
  3. Is now a better time than ever to have an LPG conversion? The cost at my nearest fuelling station that does LPG (about 5 miles away) is around 50p, which is half that of Petrol and 67p cheaper than Diesel where I live. Despite the recent price hike in LPG I still believe it is a good move for all those who do 15,000+ miles a year. Especially given that some LPG fitters are now charging just £1,000 to get it fitted!
  4. I'm trying to think of good reasons to own a diesel currently. I think we all agree Petrol's sound better, but I like the turbo shove that you get with a diesel and the economy that comes with it. I also like the economy that comes with it but when the government is charging extortionate amounts for fuel, in particular for diesel (where I live it's at 116.9 whereas petrol is 105.9) so what benefits are there in terms of economy are there? I'm struggling to see it myself, most modern petrol's that are either N/A or even turbo charged these days are returning 30+ on the combined. My Astra returned 38.9 on a recent trip down to cornwall from yorkshire. And my brothers R26 Megane manages 31.5 combined (according to the trip computer), with similar service intervals and similar tax amounts if cars comply with euro emissions I am left thinking that Diesel drivers are finally starting to get the worst deal overall. Not to mention the initial outlay to get a diesel car over a petrol. What are your views?
  5. Neil, it's nice to see my old car is still going strong and your still enjoying it! Take it easy mate Chris.
  6. Hi, Me and my boss have been having a chat at work about things like the theory of relativity. For example if you jump in the air on top of a train you would expect to go backwards yet inside a train you would land in the same spot? Does anyone know any other good ones that test your brains ??? Cheers.
  7. sorted it! no excess to pay for me now i just have to have it repaired myself for the small sum of £1-200 max. Thanks everyone!!!! Chris.
  8. so the general consensus is that if i retract the claim against my vehicle i don't pay any excess as my insurance company will pay for the third party repairs on my behalf whether i claim or not. i am aware i will loose my ncb, but that will mean a lot less than £600 !
  9. Even if they have claimed off my insurance including a curtosy car?
  10. hi, i was involved in a slow speed accident, my car drives perfectly and doesn't even have a dint. the only damage is to the osf bumper and headlight which has a few scratches nothing more. sadly the car i hit a mercedes had slightly more damage and he claimed through my insurance... my excess is a whopping £600 (£250 voluntary and £350 compulsory that I was unaware of), and my insurer (swift cover) told me to pay my £600 excess to the garage which is repairing my vehicle (they told me about an authorised repairer). i had the inspection on my vehicle about 2 weeks ago by the repairer and was told the cost of the repairs was only about £220. I rang the third party but unfortunately he had already claimed and the cost was about £1200.00 so it is still cheaper to go through my insurer. my question relates to the fact that it is now over 2 weeks since i was contacted by the repairer who said he would get an exact price for me and call back and arrange a date for booking in my vehicle. I have heard nothing since, now I know this is cheeky but I have a feeling that if i layed low the repairer would never contact me, in essence meaning i don't pay my £600 excess. Now there are 2 issues here:- 1) my car is perfectly driveable and i can arrange to have the repairs done myself at a snippet of the cost however will the insurer eventually catch up me and demand the £600 excess? 2) the moral issue - i have everything recorded including the conversations with the call centre staff clearly telling me what i needed to do next, but obviously i am being ignorant by leaving this matter unresolved surely and would i held accountable? thanks for any advice, Chris.
  11. Why does it look like a Kia? Damn that things ugly!!!!
  12. Funnily enough this main reason I sold the car because I thought the ride was too firm Glad to see you like it rough
  13. My old car! Good to see all is well with her, piccies are on the way neil if you just let me know what's best for you. And yes for the LAST time the car IS remapped It has a JabbaSport custom remap on it, 195 bhp and 323 lb/ft of torque, that was detuned to 191.5 bhp and 301 lb/ft to save the clutch. The pictures i'll send you include 2 RR Printouts. I had it remapped when the car had 5,000 miles on and it already had the following on it: PD160 Cupra Intake Green Filter It subsequently had the SMIC pikey mod 1 and 2. Hope this helps and confirms to you ONCE AND FOR ALL it is REMAPPED ALREADY!!! Chris.
  14. That depends, my old Fabia in 3rd gear was great. Once 1st and 2nd were out of the way, 3rd maybe only went to 80 mph or so but it was the real kick in the back acceleration, and I only had a remap. That said, none of this is anywhere near my brothers 306 hp Megane RS, using stock intercooler, only mods are ITG Filter, RS Tuning Remap and I believe the turbo has had some extra spindles added to it. RR was done on site (on Armley Road for anyone who knows it), it's running very rich and has to use Ron 97/99 or something stupid but it goes very well indeed, certainly the same speed as a PPP STi (300 bhp one). And weighs very little, not bad for
