  1. More photos on WCF, including 'real' shots of the estate. I'll reserve judgement until I see both versions in the flesh. http://www.worldcarfans.com/110030224831/skoda-fabia-vrs-fabia-combi-vrs-revealed-in-geneva
  2. Well, after just nine months in my Furby it looks like I'll have to give it up. I'm possibly going to have to emigrate to Oz in Jan/Feb and would love to to the Furby with me but that'd be silly. It's one thing missing your family and friends and the old routines etc, but I think the single biggest thing that'll upset me is having to sell on my VRS. I'm truely gutted. :sour: Anyway, I just wanted to let my fellow Briskodians that I'm grateful for all your help and advice over the past year. I'll hopefully be back with another VRS in the future and I'll obviously be checking in and posting from time to time. See you lot soon. Darragh
  3. I've got this problem too and when I think about it, it's kind of annoying. I took the Furby to a local dealer recently for a pre-warranty expiry check up and mentioned the steering predicament. They noticed it too so at least I felt vindicated. Reasons for a drift would be camber, but it was a definite pull. I had it tracked a while ago and around 2 days later it was back to it's old habit. But he said that it should be tracked only when the tank is full or thereabouts as 'the suspension geometry changes dramatically when its empty'. I've to put on a new set of front tyres and will heed the advice and let you know the outcome.
  4. You're right Iain and Joel, sorry about that. BLT it is.
  5. Hey Joel, Nice results there. From reading posts before, you probably need to invest in a new clutch if you plan on sticking with the new map. But enjoy the new power nonetheless. I take it your Furby is a facelift 05-07 with the newer engine (asz?). I think I remember hearing that Skoda never revised the hp and performance figures to keep the insurance band low. I've done a search and came up with nought, so Decron, keep those kittens breathing for another little while. So does the ASZ engine put out 145-150 rather than the 130 quoted in Skoda literature, hence your standard map figures of 145 & 150? Hope that doesn't classify as a thread hijack. If so, apologies. Cheers, V

  7. What about Bridgestone Turanzas? They're the standard tyre used for the VRS aren't they?
  8. Just pulled up outside a local shop today. It had massive floor to ceiling windows so I look a good long goo at my vrs in motion and in the process of parking. Not to the point of being dangerous mind! Just dont want to think I'm the only loser doing it! I'm loving my car since I bought it 8 months ago, and stuff like this really just keeps that smile factor going. The Furby vrs is such the understated confidence motor. So glad I didn't go for that Fiesta ST!!!
  9. Cheers for that kwacka, sounds about right! Will post if it turns out to be something else. Thanks!
  10. Hey, Was just reading through some old posts here and still had a few questions before I call the dealer. I'm driving an '06 Fabia vrs which is stil under warranty. My driver side window is functioning, although when I click it to close up it stops 1/3 the way up and then automatically rolls back down. I would think it should be covered under the warranty. Before I ring the dealer, I'd appreciate any thoughts. Is it the motor or regulator? Thanks in advance, V
  11. Hi all, I've done a few hundred miles since my 30k service and two problems I mentioned to the service mechanic when I left the Furby VRS in are still persisting. Occasionally, when braking there's a tone. Not mechanical, it sounds like a warning tone. It'll be intermittent when I'm easing on the brakes, but when I come to a stop it beeps consistently, but only occasionally. Has anyone heard of this before? The mechanic said it could have been a brake fluid warning and said he'd check it out. But it's still there. Also, the car is tracking to the left even after having that looked at in my local FastFit. Was like that when I bought it, but if I remember correctly, it's the way of the world with Furby VRS's. I'd appreciate any thoughts before I head back up to the local dealership. Thanks, V
  12. Tidy looking wheels! Are they 16 or 17's?

  15. I agree with Trevor, get an S2000. Yes, it's a convertable, but you can get some amazingly cool hardtops for it (http://www.jtuned.com/media/gallery%2Farticles%2FHonda%20S2000%20Mugen%20White%2F005.jpg). Power, and visceral experience of driving it is hard to forget. Otherwise why not look at one of the following. - VW Golf R32 - VW Golf GTI - Porsche Boxster S - The Mazda 3 Aero (as Malc suggested) - M3 (yes Beemer drivers can be t****** but why not try and change that) - Audi RS4 - Merc AMG Lots out there, but why not mod your Octy and see its other side.
  16. Is this still going ahead on the 7th? If it is I'm going to have to back out. Something has unexpectedly come up. If it's on anytime after the 10th count me back in. Sorry lads!
  17. Twas a dull navy colour. Cover in bee sting antennae on the back with full flashing kit in the light clusters and on the back sill. Don't the Italians have a Lamborghini Gallardo? YouTube - Italian Police Lamborghini
  18. Just spotted a 2006 Dublin reg Octy II in navy. Twas in garda (police) mode, ie he had pulled someone in. Light was failing so wasn't sure if it was a vRS but I'd assume it was. Spotted on the road from Castleblayney to Ardee. Didn't know the Irish cops had 'em, thought all they used were Toyota Camrys, Ford Mondeos and the like. Anyone seen this before?
  19. Took ages for them to arrive, but that's the Irish postal service for you. Put them on and she was dumbstruck. The entire office loved them, coutesy of YouTube... YouTube - Spinnin' on 13's. I'm going to grab the keys off her some lunchtime and take some good pics and more video.
  20. Hey, I don't know if this is new news, but I just spotted this article. Skoda Yeti SUV Given the Green Light Smashin little features, especially the dials. I wonder what will make it to production. :rubchin:
  21. I'm interested either way. Prefer hitting it up before Castlewellan too.
  22. Why not tell him to get a Furby vRS of his own. Just keep the best mods to yourself. You can get 01,02 Honda S2000s for under 10k. Don't let that on to your mate though. In terms of the Mk 4 issue. I've done lots of research, before I bought my Furby and since. It's a lumbering old pudding, they brought the 180bhp engine in after 2003 I think, but your Furby would compete with that IMHO. Mk 5's are 200bhp monsters, although I'm sure there are a few heavily modded Furby's on here that would beat a standard one *cough* Skud *cough* Devon. I read somewhere on here that remap, new turbo, clutch and rarb would set you back £2500. Some have gone so far so to ditch the air con, carbon bonnet. http://briskoda.net/forums/fabia/any-honda-type-r-beating-vrs-s/110585/ Nice bit of competition never hurt anyone, but drive safe!
  23. Cheers everyone. Hitting over to the bodyshop some time this week to get it touched up rather than resprayed. Another side effect is that I'm afraid to park it in the area again (one of my best mates places). So instead I have to walk 10 mins up from the next parking spot. If I found the **** who did it though, god help me!
  24. Hey everyone, Thanks for the kind words and the great advice. I've to check with my insurance broker to see if I have no claims protection, and if I do I'll go for a respray. I'd still be paying a €190 excess, but if it needs to be done! I've been since told that a buff down and touch up by a local and skilled repairer is a good option, so I might go that route instead. The thought had crossed my mind to seek vengence, but then I'd be as bad as them. I just need to take this on the chin and really be careful where I park in the future (ie, from now on it'll be employing a cloaking device). Here are a few pics of the damage. The light didn't help, but I think you get the idea. Anyway, I'll keep you up to date with how it all goes. Cheers!
