  1. I know this is an old thread but I just bought some new Avon ZV5's off ebay on a bit of a whim (they were a bargain) I have previously had Continentals but switched to Nexens more recently. I am hoping I will not be disappointed with the Avons... They are extra load tyres (94) does anyone know if this is recommended for the Superb or would 91 rating be enough ? Also will it take run flats ? I still need a couple of tyres for rears and would prefer to keep the same pattern so am looking for part worn .
  2. Agree with that comment - fitted my own simplified design with a 'proper' microswitch. Net cost about £1....
  3. Have you still got these? Are they OEM replacements? Do you know what colour temp is ? message me if you can... Thanks Stuart
  4. I got a pair of H3's from Ebay but couldn't get them to fit in the hole - They were about half as bright as a 55W halogen amd had 68 LED's. May find a use for them somewhere else. Now looking at fitting an HID kit to fog lights.
  5. I have the same problem on my 03 plate model. I have heard that it is recommended to change the bulbs after 2500 hrs. It usually works after switching on and off a few times. I am looking at fitting some aftermarket bulbs (from Ebay) as OEM ones will be extortionately expensive...
  6. Did all my lights a while back and found places to fix ballast resistors to without using a heatsink- ie the body. Also changed all interior lights to LED to give the same feel. I also found space to pit LED strip lights in the rear cluster and beneath the headlights. Some people might think this a bit cheesy but the rapid switch on of LED's makes them a safety feature... Has any one tried LED replacements for front fogs- are they bright enough? My experience with 'high brightness' LEDs for domestic replacements for halogens has been unsuccessful to date.
  7. - Fixed it now. still not sure what problem was but probably bad contacts within the MFD. took the unit apart and there were several board to board connections which I cleaned out. I also traced the Vid on line as far as I could and found there is a 10K series resistor already there so no fear that I may have damaged the input by sticking to many volts down it....
  8. Thanks for the reply. I think I already checked earthing but will give it another go.... My question is really about logic levels- can't seem to get hold of any tech info for the DX unit. Pal/NTSC swiching works fine with thresholds I set as did Vid On before it went to garage. I just wondered if there was anything on the canbus they might have re-programmed which may have affected it. Just annoying cos I can't see where I'm going in reverse and have already done enough damage to bumper!
  9. i installed a bullet type camera in one of the holes for the reverse sensors (which was broken anyway) I used a composite video to RGB conerter with 2 inputs so I could plug in my MP3 player. All worked fine till I had the locks changed by my local Skoda dealer (DM Keith, Bradford) after the keys were stolen from my house. They denied it was anything to do with what they had done. I used the 'Vid on' pin on the 9 pin connector fed from a switched 12v signal via a 4.7K resistor so the display is forced to the camera when reverse is selected. I have checked all the wiring and still can't find out what is wrong. Anyone have any ideas ?? Note: The camera etc still work fine it's just the switching to reverse camera when I select reverse which doesn't. BTW I also fitted a switch for manual override (with another resistor and diode) which does work but only when the DX unit is set to Aux input, so basically it is the Vid on function which seems to not work any more. (I also posted this as a response to another members post but no reply. MFD has been hanging out for about 6 months now and getting fed up of having to tell same story to all the passengers. (It's a real b**ch to get back in)
  10. Anyone got any 60's gear I can borrow for my sisters birthday party next weekend... ?

    1. porky2

I have some 1950/60 nylon stockings but no suspender belt!

  12. Strange- my dad looks a bit like Jack Rebney....

  13. Thanks to VWNAvi I am sorted now- found out the connector is a mini iso. Parts are readily available on Ebay at a sensible price. (People are prepared to pay £15 for these!!) The quality is good and, as I only have a standard crimp tool, the result should prove reliable. Not tested it yet as I now have to fit phonos to the cable I have installed... Here are the links: - Plug Mini-ISO yellow, output - phono connector - on eBay (end time 01-Dec-09 19:47:21 GMT) You can also get the crimps from the polish guy: Yellow 6 PIN MINI ISO connector / plug on eBay (end time 17-Nov-09 06:59:28 GMT) - but cheaper to buy the assembled part.
  14. OK. So where did you end up putting the amp- ? I am planning to mount one where the CD changer is....
  15. Anyone know where to get crimps for the yellow connector (audio out) for the MFD ? I have tried usual Farnells/CPC/RS but they appear to be non-standard The connector case is fitted but with no crimp termianls. Thanks Stuart
