Mine's an 06 with curtain bags and the marking are all the way to the C pillar. I guess the one being talked about here has only front curtain airbags, as I remember in some cars you can get that, and not full curtain bags front and rear. Or.. are the side airbag tags still present on the seats?

BUT, in some countries (Germany for sure) if the tire's speed rating is less than the car's Vmax this must be clearly advertised in the driver's eyesight. That's why you see pictures of dashes with the 3 digit figure sticker on: -

+2 the other night and a slight drizzle. Guess who got rear ended by a guy who got rear ended by a guy? Well, I managed to drive away with just the need for a bumper respray, not hitting the person in front. The Golf behind me needs a new front bumper and rear bumper and panel work, and the Clio behind it needs a whole new nose, radiators and headlights etc. If only those two jackasses had proper tires on or driving skills of any kind... What do people think of these (wing mirrors)

Also, more likely to touch one of the halogens with bare skin, shortening it's life. -

Anything on the rear of the car you can change yourself. Unless it's the license plate lights you don't even need a screwdriver. On the fronts the only decent lamp to change is the low beam, but even that is rather fiddly. Not Megane fiddly, but sausage sized fingers will have a hard time reaching. I wouldn't do it, though. Had Scandinavian lights turned on more than a year ago (but I keep the switch in the low beam position so everything is lit up all the time) and nothing fried yet. Had to replace the turn signal lights on the back because the color flaked off, though, and they appeared rather whiteish next to a newer car. -
Ought to be a part of the VIN, methinks.

Either directly into that or a control box along the way.

I'm guessing the less expensive ones are the plain blue tint, and you need the 200euro a piece item, which is more similar to the prices I've heard around here.

As long as he's not powering the yellow connector he should be fine. IIRC on the Passat seat you only have 2 wires for power and ground in the plug. The motor itself might be pulse driven or even a stepper motor, don't power it directly. The Passat seat doesn't have memory, though, so it's a simpler design.

Yeh, that's right. But come to think of it, people the likes of Paris Hilton would be all over golden autodimming mirrors.
-
Use a can of compressed air to lift them off? Or something antistatic?
-
Tilting them down helps, but then I'm not able to catch a quick glance before overtaking, or similar. Even if I can still see something in them, I have to consciously process it, as the image is not what I expect to see.

I'd say the outside mirrors are miles more useful than the interior one. That I can just flip up if need arises, but the dimming outside mirrors are gold.

Nah, they just follow their nose.
