  1. Eventually got my car back today!!! All the faults were due to the PAS pump being faulty and an internal short causing the false fault codes to be displayed. All OK now.
  2. Thanks, They said they have checked all the wiring and are sure it is the pump. They will also give a 2 year waranty on the repair so I guess I'll just have to see.
  3. Hi I have a 2001 Fabia 1.4 MPi It's currently at Woodheads Skoda Blackpool getting the power steering fixed among other problems. They have quoted £1018 to fit a new PAS pump which they think will sort out most of the other problems. I asked about a re-con pump but they only fit Skoda parts and said if I took it somewhere else to fit a re-con pump it would still need to come back there to be recoded?? Is that right? What would need recoding? It's not as if they are changing the ECU you dash clocks which I know would need this. Any suggestions on what to do with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rob
  4. Thanks, but just changed the PAS angle sensor and still no power steering!! Think I'll be taking it to the local Skoda dealer and see what they say.
  5. Hi everyone, I have a 2001 Fabia 1.4 MPi 8v. My problems started about 4 months ago when the PAS light came on and lost power steering. I took the car to the local garage and they changed the sensor. All was ok for a few months but then the PAS light came on again and I lost the power steering again! I went back to the garage and they checked it all and found that the battery was not to good, and fitted a new one. They checked the pump and that was ok. They then suggested that it could be a problem with the wiring loom, or a connector somewhere. Since then I have had the engine management light, EPC light, air bag light, and now the oil pressure light some times comes on (along with 3 beeps) oh, and the rev counter and temp gauge goes up and down by its self. Also sometimes just turns over, switch off and on and starts fine. I got my self a test cable and got the following codes; 18056 Data bus power-train malfunction 16955 Brake switch 17978 Engine start blocked be immobilizer 18044 Missing message from airbag I have sorted the brake lights (new switch) Reset the other codes Now only have PAS and air bag light But I still get these codes, 18056, and 17978 I've had a look on here and will be having a look at the n/s wing and checking the connector / loom. Any more pointers will be gladly accepted, thanks.
  6. Just wanted to say hello to my fellow Skoda owners.
