  1. That reminds me, I forgot about state of my sills. They have got quite bad over the last couple of years. 😞
  2. Yes, I'm just not keen on all the 1.0L engines out there now days and for 15 - 20k for a car with a 1.0L engine.... I'm sure and have been told they are nippy compared with the old 1 litres but all the same, it's so much money for a car now and we are getting less. I paid £12700 for my vRS new with quite a few extra's through a broker. I know it was now a long time ago but jeez. I had a look at new cars and by the time you have added the things that should be on there anyway it's £30k+. 😞
  3. Hi all, just a ramble mostly but I've had my vRS since new in Sept 2004 and am now up to 216,000 miles on the clock. Over all it has been a good car and I've only had work on the steering rack and a new clutch (and a few smaller things and the usual wear and tear items of course). Oh, and the air conditioning went a few years ago. Far to expensive to get replaced on a car this age so I just have to suffer the hot, thankfully short summer heat. Apart from the rear drivers side foot well getting wet (yet to be investigated) it's still a good drive. It's very noisy when stationary with the engine running. Sounds a bit like an old tractor. So at 216k and serviced every year, how long is this car going to last. Anyone else with high mileage vRS of the same vintage? Lastly, what to buy next? I'm not that keen on the Fabia's available now and have been looking at the Polo GTI, maybe 2 or 3 years old (when and if I've saved a bit more money). Happy Christmas to all. Garry..
  4. It works after swapping fuse 15 with 32. I now have working front wipers and non working back wiper but I can live with that until I find my spare fuses. Thanks guys.
  5. Thanks guys I’ll check that today. Weather has been terrible here and I had to use the car for a family emergency the other day forgetting about the wipers until it started snowing and then raining. 🙁😫
  6. Hi all, was out and about today in this freezing weather and the wipers were working but then when I tried them again they won't budge. There is no noise (like they are trying to work) or anything. I swapped fuse 41 with the horn fuse and it's fine so it's not the fuse. Anything else I can check? Thanks for any info. Garry..
  7. Thanks all, I took the car in for it's MOT and asked them to fit the glove box for me if they had time. They did it so it must have been something I was doing wrong.
  8. Thanks TMB, not had a chance to give it another go yet due to the weather. I'll see if any of those items are in the way before trying again. I did use little thin screw drivers to line up the holes and still when I put a screw in it just won't bite.
  9. Hi all, took the glove box off to try and install a cable through to the battery, only to find the power cable for my sub woofer is using the space. Doh! i should have checked the other side first. Now, I can't get the glove box back on. Is there a knack to this? I can't seem to get the screws lined up into the holes and of course I can't see when the glove box is held in place waiting. Probably something silly I am doing and I feel like the least practical person in the whole world. Garry
  10. Looks interesting Pete, shame we don't have something like that. Can you have the template ready by Monday? 😆
  11. OK guys, let's keep it friendly here. Nobody is dead. I came up against a silly issue as soon as I looked at the front seat. My old socket set is a bit to large. i thought one did fit but the actual socket itself is just to bulky to get in there. What kind of nut is that to remove the seat as I need to search for a reasonably priced set to replace this box of junk I have. Also are there any other surprises tool wise i may have. Any special screw drivers I may need lol.
  12. Thanks TMB, I can see the pictures now, so it must have been my work blocking the image hosting. Thank you so much.
  13. The pictures are not showing at the moment but I am on the work machine. I'll have a look on my laptop shortly see if they are there.
  14. Mine is September 2004 so hopefully bolted. I'll give it a go and if I get into a mess I can take it to the garage and ask them to put it back together again lol.
