  1. Hi, as above really, my slave cylinder is goosed and I haven't the time to fix, any garage recommendations? Cheers
  2. Hi Matt, what condition are these in? All still painted? Ta
  3. :( Look as though the slave cylinder on my VRS is on it's way out, I don't have the time to change it myself so can anyone recommend a decent place to get it changed in the central Scottish belt? Thanks!
  4. You sir have completely set my mind at rest The easiest way to describe it is a variable clutch bite point, sometimes it's near the floor and and surges as you come to a stop then others it's at a decent height and no surge...very strange.....& pretty vibey when on boost.... Cheerss Lofty79!
  5. Sorry to hijack the thread but......... Oh bugger, I just bought Andy's (Polo1600) old Fabia VRS and it's doing this at almost every stop....It's running a single mass flyweheel from Jabba (I think) and should only have <10,000miles on it! Do you know what this is a symptom of? Surely it shouldn't be fubbarred yet
  6. Hi All, I'm the proud new owner of a Mk1 VRS Fabia but the heater is stuck on! Before I start replacing flaps, consoles etc Does anyone know if the $99 Lite version will do this? Thanks!
  7. Evenings are not much good this time of year unless you have a garage? Failing that i could pop over Saturday first thing if you're around?
  8. Hey matey, I'm quite interested and (relatively) local. Has the car old MOTs? And was the deer strike an insurance jobbie? Recorded?
  9. Warranty is 2 yrs or Skoda say 3 years if under 60K...at least in the UK:confused:
  10. Having previously owned a Pug 205 GTI, a Mk1 Golf GTI and then after having a BIG  smash in my Corrado VR6 I went out and bought a 56 plate 1.4l 16v Roomster Now, as a car it's been very good over the last year but other than looking different it doesn't really light my fire so I am considering a px with a 54 plate 42K VRS in silver. Enough waffle.....can anyone fill me in on the common faults servicing/ running costs etc? Being a skinflint I have a loathing of depreciation and I'm a great believer in the old banger [retro ] thing, in fact, I have recently gone out and bought a 1980s Passat estate 5 cylinder [Audi Quattro engine] and have lowered the bugger and put it on lpg BUT I am bitten by the new car feel....What to do What to do??? Opinions welcome! Sorry for the waffle, slow day at work
  11. I had something similar where essentially the heater cable was sticking so when on hot it was hot but when turned to cold it would stay hot until vibration, momentum etc would move the cable back along it's sleeve and go cold [could be 10mins, could be 2 hours] whereby it would stay cold until the dial was set to its hottest! Drove me made but was fixed under warranty although it still feels fragile..............
  12. Just a thought, but what makes this a sport? It's about as sporty as my mum . It is and never will be a sports car, the VRs was a luke warm hatch at best and that had soggy suspension. It appealed to the sensible side, whereby it'll do 50mpg get the kids in and still feel quite nippy , if people actually wanted a 'sports car' they would not be looking at a Fabia vrS. If you want a sports car buy a sports car and don't listen to all this marketing balls telling you that a spoiler and a pin stripe will help you lap Nurburgring in under 10 minutes. Although personally I'm saving up for a Lotus Elise MPV which has child friendly seats and a wipe clean interior.
  13. Hi I had similar trouble and had it fixed under warranty - it's the bowden cables, one had come adrift from it's mount and was catching over a period of the temp' control dial.
  14. A 7.5inch tyre [the diameter is immaterial unless you change the rolling circumference] will have an equivalent offset of 56mm in order to sit at the same point as a 6.5inch et43 but you will be around 20mm closer to the strut. To get decent clearance I would suggest you lower the offset to push the wheel out and away from thr strut, maybe a 10mm spacer and et46? This shouldn't extend beyond the arch and may give you enough clearance - measure ,measure ,measure is all I can say . Try 'googling' wheel offset and see if you can find an offset calculator.
