  1. I got one of these about a week ago and so far it seems very good
  2. I've been using these for a while and they have been excellent considering the cost £1.26 each!. i order a few at a time and change them every few months http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Skoda_Octavia_1.8_2004/p/car-parts/car-body-parts-and-car-exhaust/wipers/wiper-blades/?485771109&1&0dc18148d0dd2290d33df0e821a098e5b2620b3c&000604
  3. if it helps on my SDI I manages to go though over the years 3 sets of standard bushes so in the end I went with for the rear of the wishbone cupra solid bushes. http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=13776&xSec=289 and powerflex in the front of the whishbone http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=49843. The benifit has been that the handling of the car has been improve and my mechanic says that after 50k they are still solid. I would reccomend that for anybody replacing bushes that long term this is the best option
  4. not sure but engine imoblier issue? have you tried using the other key to see if it comes up? also check what condition the battery/ alternator is in as this may be causing a problem. the above may be worth a try if not see if you can find someone local that can hook it upto the vacom and see what that says.
  5. I know that when the spolier started pealing on the back of my octi, I took it to my local body shop and the guy there came out, looked at it and said as soon as he had seen it "that spoiler has not been sprayed as part of the car, it will have been sprayed off the car by the supplier who will have used combined paint and lacquer" He went on to then explain that becuase the paint and lacquer is combined when it is sprayed that it looks right but in time it peals off. I had my spoiler resprayed in 2 pack and then lacquer and it looks spot on.
  6. if you are after mitchelin it may be worth ringing ATS cos they are doing upto 30% off at the moment. I got 4 165/70/r14 for £240 inc valves balance and nitrogen fill. budges were coming out at £220 - 230 fully fitted

    what tyres

may be worth calling ATS as they are doing some very good deals on mitchalins at the moment. Ive just got 4 165/70/r14 for the fabia £240.00 all in. budgets were coming in at £220.00 you never know give them a call
  8. one quick though on memory cards which I was told and I have stuck with is. it is better to have 3 or 4 small capacity cards that one large one becuase if one goes faulty then you have not lost everything. I have not actully had a card go faulty on me it's just worth thinking about
  9. shark rider had a mk1 vrs for his driving school car.
  10. another for the humax, had my 320g model for 2 years and it has been great. I have noticed recently that they are now doing a 500g and 1tb versions of the box. there is the alternative of the samsung SMTS7800 however I have not used it or seen it in action but from what I have seen of the comments online is that if you can get a samsung one cheap then it's ok but the Humax one is the one.
  11. just had a quick look at jessops they are doing it for about £7.00 each http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/8863/show.html did not realise they still made but also how expencive it has now gone due to low demand it looks like at that cost it is time to move to digital? hope that helps
  12. tomtom go710 £75.59 http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom/TomTom-GO-710-Refurbished.7098.html 2 things. 1. its a tomtom refurbished unit. 2. it's now an old model probibly still worth looking at

    FREESAT

Freesat is great better picture and less breakup. if you want a freesat recorder then you will need to check the LNB ( black box on the end of the dish) to see how many feeds it has, if it is quite a few years old you it will be a single one and you will need a new one. they are not expencive and it's quite easy to change. You will need to run a second cable from the dish to where your TV is as a freesat box needs a cable for each tuner in the box. Have a look at www.joinfreesat.co.uk this explains a bit more about LNB's http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/lnb.htm
  14. im getting about 150 to a quarter tank, about 320 to half a tank on a mixture of motorway and urban roads. one thing I have done recently was stick a bottle of redex diesel cleaner in the fuel which has pushed the economy up quite a bit.( Im sure someone will now say that’s wrong :-)) asda were recently selling a 4 treatment bottles for £2.00 may be worth changing fuel supplier if you just stick supermarket fuel to a branded one in and see if that has any effects after 2 or 3 fillups. also what sort of mileage have you go on it. some random questions to think about that can have an effect when did it last have a service /air filter / fuel filter? what sorts of roads are you driving, eg urban roads, duel carriageway etc this can have an effect what are you carrying in the car, is it full of people, boot full of stuff etc
  15. My feeling is that as some others have said it would be a shame to sell such a good looking minor. Are you looking to sell becuase of the running costs or is it that you are needing to release the money in the car. if it's just the running costs then I would put it into storage for a year or so till things are better, becuase you will cost you a whole lot more to replace it in the future.
  16. if memory serves me right you are still in keswick so here are some suggestions there is a chemiest in keswick which does cameras etc opposit W H Smiths they may be able to help. the other one is boots on the main street. also acc to this website http://www.ukcamera.com/towns/northwes.htm there is Murray's Camera Centre on station street. 01768 772 049 if you venture down to kendal try wilkinson http://www.wilkinson.co.uk/store/pages.php?pageid=29 . 01539 735 055 there is also a photo processing place in bowness Photo Express 01539 442 094 on the main street opposit the shoping precint and next to SLAM. when I last looked in they still still had all the developing kit at the back of the store Hope this helps
  17. hmm tensioner not wearing. When I did the cambelt on mine last at 4 years 35k the tensioner did have wear! not sure if it was the exception but my mechanic replaced them and showed them to me at the time.
  18. you are correct two captive nuts need to be inserted into the chassis rails on the car and yes you need a special tool to do this. I have one on my octi and it is a pain to remove for the service but it is great for protecting the sump!
  19. how about someting like this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151486?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products you could then reinforce the ceiling from the loft
  20. both me and my dad have town and country seat covers mine have been on for nearly 6 years and are not showing any sign of wear I can also confrim that they are designed for seats with side airbags becuase they have velcro down the side. http://www.townandcountrycovers.com/vehicle-seat-covers/universal.html
  21. how about if you have a mate with a 4x4 or a tranist with a towbar hiring a a car trailer? try. http://hire.indespension.com/cgi-bin/main.cgi not sure of the cost but it is another option to explore
  22. if memory serves me right the standard ride hight on the vrs estate is actually slightly lower than the hatch! I am only talking a few mm but it is lower I need to go and get the book out to check what the difference is.
  23. I can reccomend a guy who is based in Poynton, Frank Pots. I have used him a few times over the years and every time his work is spot on! some of the cars he has restored / painted have been concorse winning cars. He is what I would describe as old school working on his own with a full workshop and oven. The only thing I would say is that he is usually booking weeks sometimes months in advance due to his workload. The address is Springbank Farm, Coppice Road, Poynton, Stockport, Cheshire, SK12 1SP 01625 877380
  24. might be worth having a look at www.richersounds.com they quite often have some reaonable priced/ spec TV's and their 5 yr warrenty is 10% of the tv price
  25. if it helps on my sdi fabia I would say that the handling has improved and I have noticed no difference in noise and vibration since fitting them. I do quite a mixed millaged of motorways and normal roads I would say to any fabia owner do the cupra and powerflex mod
