Hi, after repeated visits to the garage and not much progress, I can provide further information. The problem first occurred when the power steering warning light came on. I turned the engine off but it wouldn’t start at all, not even a sound, and we had to jump start it. Since then I have mainly had issue with the car not starting in the morning and having to be jump started. The power steering warning light has come on a couple of times. On one occasion as driving the power steering went and was soon followed by the lights, cassette player, speedometer etc. Since then despite buying a new battery and trying a new alternator, the problem has persisted. I have searched the forums and discovered that quite a few people have an issue with their power steering but this issue seems slightly different. I am loather to leave it in the hands of a garage whose course of action will tend to be to try different parts until something sorts the problem out. Has anybody experienced anything similar or can suggest the best course of action? Thanks DBTL

Hi, my car is not starting in the mornings. The engine is not even turning, and when i turn the key the digital display behind the steering wheel starts breaking up. The car parts shop have just sold me a battery, will this be the problem or have i bought the wrong thing? Thanks in advance.

I have my MP3 player hooked up to my cassette player using the cassette adaptor sold on Ebay and the like. Haven't had any problem until recently. However, the sound to the drivers side speakers keeps cutting out, but does come back on for a second or two if I adjust the mp3 player jack in the mp3 player. The speakers work fine when I have the radio on. The problem is not the mp3 player or the cassette adaptor because I have tried a brand new mp3 player and a new cassette adaptor. Any ideas?

The Vredestein tyres look really good and well within budget. I have found them for £33.30 inc. VAT and delivery from Tyres at mytyres.co.uk: car tyres, 4x4 tyres and van tyres at low prices, just need to find a cheap local fitter in Rotherham/Barnsley. Still open to other suggestions though!

Hi, thanks for the reply. I am aware that there are companies that offer tyres for sale over the internet but there is simply too much choice. I am hoping that a Fabia owner who has been through similar decisions would be able to advise me on a suitable tyre. Regards DBTL

Hi, I have a 51 plate Fabia 1.9TDI Elegance and my current tyres are 185 60 R14 82H. I am looking for some new tyres, key factors for me are road comfort (fewer bumps, shakes etc) and grip. I am not at all fussed either way about branding, and would be looking for something at a decent price so top-of-the-range branded tyres are out of question. Thanks DBTL

Hi, nice to see so many people here from South Yorkshire! I am driving a 51 plate Fabia 1.9 TDi Elegance, 93k miles on the clock :( but it came cheap so who cares? Currently experiencing a few problems so may be posting in the detailed forums later to ask for help/advice!
