My central locking is posessed
scoobynut replied to scoobynut's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
The dealer checked it all once and it's going back again Monday. I don't beleive it's a mechanical issue with the doors - a lot of the time it looks no problem - and it always locks the doors at the start of a trip. -
My central locking is posessed
scoobynut replied to scoobynut's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I should have added, this is happening while I am driving. It's the standard set up of auto locking after about 10mph, which should remain locked until you remove the ignition key or press the unlock button. It seems to be unlocking as I'm driving slower - I wouldn't say it's approaching the speed that it locks at, but it certainly seems to be a trend of slowing down. -
Which Features / Options Would You Like to See?
scoobynut replied to Steve vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
bluetooth as standard for vRS. And a 400bhp W32 4x4 engine / drive train -
guys, I have an 08 vRS and in the last few months the central locking has gone intermittently mad. It unlocks the doors after they autolock. It's random and they will often sound like they are trying to lock again. Often the button in the centre console works to manually lock them again, sometimes it doesn't. I'm worried one day the car will unlock after it's parked up. It's been into the dealer with no fault found, and is scheduled to go back next week. I thought there was a pattern due to hot weather but am not convinced. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Washer bottle up grade
scoobynut replied to Flyfisherman's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
surely put a 10L jerrican in the boot and run 2m of silicone hose into the old bottle to siphon the contents as needed Obviously the container in the boot needs to be up on a telephone directory for the siphoning to work..... -
How to remove Octy 2 vRS oil filter
scoobynut replied to scoobynut's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
ah, this'll be it. 36mm is what I need. 36mm Oil Filter Tool-Seat Toledo V5 10v Skoda fabia sdi on eBay, also, Hand Tools, Garage Equipment Tools, Vehicle Parts Accessories (end time 25-Jun-09 20:45:00 BST) or here: http://www.bennetts.com/oil-service-tools/sealey-tools-sx114-441048--168159.php doesn't list Skoda or VW but it looks like the right size. -
How to remove Octy 2 vRS oil filter
scoobynut replied to scoobynut's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
cheers Gary, most helpful - I'll phone German and Swedish or Murrays to see if they have any idea about the drain tool. Alas there's not enough room to get a filter removal tool round the housing - I guess that's why the socket fitting is on the end. Also it's totally smooth plastic so I reckon a strap wrench would seriously damage it. -
guys, can anyone tell me what size socket it is needed to remove the oil filter housing off a 2008 petrol vRS? The largest I have is (correction) 32mm which is too small. Also what's the orangey "valve" underneath the "end cap" for? Is it for draining the oil out of the filter to save a mess? Lastly there's an arrow going clockwise - which I would have assumed is for tightening, BUT it does make me wonder why they'd out an arrow on.....I mean the only thing I can think of which turns clockwise to loosen are cycle pedals and oxygen cylinders (or is it nitrogen ) I've searched high and low and can't find any guides about this. Any help gratefully received.

New VRS Facelift Video...
scoobynut replied to Yeti_Man's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
does nothing for me - well except further hammering the residuals of my one year old vRS I can't be doing with the "idiot" lights either. I'm sure however, like most new cars it will grow on me as they hit the streets. -

Coarse sound when applying brakes!
scoobynut replied to Funkycat's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
this is timely - I just left the short stay at Gatwick after leaving the car there all week. I drove down from Herts on Sunday night (don;t think they had been gritting that night). When I pulled away all brakes were making the worst "grinding" noise I've ever heard. Some much so that 3 levels down I pulled over to investigate. It was the standard rusty covering..... Must have been aggravated by the cr4p on the roads and ambient cold and damp conditions....After a few minutes driving and stopping it was gone. -

Service @ Progress Skoda
scoobynut replied to JustinCider's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I think their customer service is really very good. I had the wind noise warranty work done - it's not been successful but is going back this week. Hopefully they will replace with "modified" parts - rather than attempt another fix. Last time I got that rather nice but "Pimped" white vRS as a courtesy car. Wonder what it'll be this time - wouldn;t mine trying the new Superb ;-) Oh and I forgot, at Letchworth they have a little kiddies area. My two are a little bit older and prefer the novelty of free coffee / chocolate machine (well mixing 2 sachets to come up will something very sugary!). One of the young ladies who works there was really happy to keep an eye on them while I did the paperwork. -
oh, and does it support SD HC too??....
