  1. Was starting to think the same, tdi shocks and be done with it. Is the tdi lump really that much heavier than a 20vt? I have one fitted to my mk2 golf and always thought that they would be fairly close. Thanks
  2. Alright lads, bit of a story for ye.... As ya know, Ive got a 99 octy tdi. its got nearly 150k on it and it was on origional shocks and springs. needless to say....it handled like a boucey castle! So second hand vRS shocks and spring came up really cheap. the guy said they were in perfect condition and not very old.... He lied. they are worse than what i had! the springs are grand but the shocks a leaking on the back and making it leathol. So Where is the best place to get new vrs shocks? or is there a different shock that would be a good upgrade for similar money? its a daily work horse really so im not looking for coilovers or for spending anymore really than I have to y'know...its not the cleanest bus but I have it 3years and its done me well so far. Comments wellcome lads, Please and thanks Dave
  3. Haha, I like your style Bill i probably should have mentioned that this would be going with a T4 injectors and a remap. A lads on Vagdrivers.net got 138bhp on papers this way. It may be a litle benifitial with this in mind...but probably still not worth the bother. Cheers though
  4. Hi lads, just wondering if any one has put together a handy front mount IC for the diesel octavia with easy to get parts from a breakers? Does a standard intercooler from a certain car work well with inlet and outlet on the same side, or has any one turned the rad on its side etc? Ive an old 90bhp tdi so I could never justify buying a proper kit :p I would get a kick out of spending a good evening at it though. Anyone got anything? Cheers!!
  5. Ahh!! on the ball bud:thumbup: I understand ye now. Thankfully I wont have this problem with my 90bhp AGR..... VP-1 PD-0
  6. Head lights on my old shape '99 are crap! i hear they all tend to breakdown with time. Where's the best place to get new ones? not many places stock them and the ones with the built in fogs seem like hen's teeth! Theyd be over €400 from the dealers....:(
  7. Cheers for the reply bud. Something doesnt add up to me though.its not really the vanes of the turbo sticking is it...more like the waste gate sticking shut that gives the over boost. maybe removing the WG and cleaning all the moving parts would help?
  8. hmm, sounds like I struck a nerve Whats the safe alternative? Is it possible to do it without breaking the bank as the Tunit boxes are £450...thats alot to an apprentice
  9. Can I ask, what are the symptoms of vanes sticking? how would you know thats after happening? How would the car handle/sound? cheers
  10. I like your train of thought Havn't checked the connections or earths. I think ill run extra zeros straight from the battery to the body and starter. I have a new solenoid for the starter so ill stick that in too. Cheers.
  11. Alright lads, At £83 pounds it sounds like a piece of crap but they've sold 1400 of these with 100% possitive feedback...hmm.. Any one ever try one? I'm interested for my 90bhp octy VW AUDI SEAT SKODA TDI 90/110 BHP TUNING BOX CHIP 10PIN on eBay (end time 18-Oct-09 07:57:53 BST)
  12. Yup, everything else is working perfectly....MFA,fuel,speed,revs etc. Are the two senders colour coded like the old golfs? Blue for ecu temp and white for clocks temp? Cheers
  13. Yeah the light goes out and it is getting charged. it reads 14.7volts with the engine running and 12.41v with the engine off. After 3 start up and only short drives in between, it wouldnt start again! turned slowly to a stop, dead battery. Would it be that the engine has gotton harder to start and is taking its toll on the battery? Even on a good day, its seems to turn over a few seconds longer than it used to before it will fire. Wotcha think??
  14. Well lads, The temp gauge on my '99 octy tdi 90bhp used always sit exactly 2mm to the right of half way when fully warm. lately though, it wont get that far unless its a very warm day. now it doesnt seem to go any higher that 3/8ths the way up the gauge. is this just the temp sender to the clocks? i dont really think its the thermostat because it seems to warm up as usual...but i could be wrong though. Any help lads? Thanks
