  1. Hope you're still enjoying it.... I hear a rumour that you're taking it to a Dyno?
  2. G60 Limited isn't the fastest golf ever made... it's awesome... but there are quicker factory cars about.... The Mk4 V6 4Mo, Mk4 R32, Mk5 GTI, Edition 30, Pirelli, R32, Mk6 GTI, Mk6 'R' are all as quick/quicker to 60, with a higher top speed.... Granted the Mk4 didn't cover itself in glory... but having owned a fair number of Mk2 GTI's in both 8 and 16v and having driven a 1600 Mk1 GTI a fair chunk too... I'd take my Mk5 GTI DSG over any of them... it's a PROPER car.. it's all things at all times.. very capable through the bends and both quick and fast... (driven a new Scirocco too...) Don't get me wrong.. I love Mk1 GTI's, Mk2's and early Scirocco's... but anyone who claims they're superior in any way to the Mk5/6's or the new 'Rocco's haven't driven the newer cars enough (IMO of course!).... I'd even be as bold as to say that I prefer my GTI to my old 911 3.0 SC.... Did manage to see a couple of G60 Limiteds in the same place a couple of months ago... It's my favourite (factory) Mk2 Golf...
  3. I politely enquired to the owner about running costs.... £4k per corner for tyres and he wouldn't divulge the MPG!
  4. Having been lucky enough to get a passenger ride in one... I'd say a Veyron... simply EPIC. on 'real' roads.. twisty B roads with cats eyes, pot holes, oncoming traffic, gravel, etc.... it was SERIOUSLY quick.... brutally quick.... and stopped just as well... Properly impressive car... and not just for the headlines... coped as well on the B and lesser roads, as it did on the A roads.... wouldn't fancy the bills that come with it, which wouldn't be helped by our wonderous road network... but still... if I had one, I'm sure the running costs would be ok! haha!
  5. Today, probably only a Black Porsche Panamera.... but a special mention for the Green Fabia vRS on a 10 Plate in my close... First one I've seen in the UK and first one on the road....
  6. I'd wholeheartedly recommend a house.... Camping is fine... but it can be a bit.... full on! I'd love to go in the GTI, or the Fabia... but it'd be a squash for the 4 of us that go, with all the luggage for the week.... plus it would limit the amount of Gösser Bier we could bring back... plus the Golf is a tad thirstier than it's DERV counterparts! The Touran was a god send! previously we've taken my parent's Passat Wagon(s) and one year when 6 of us went, we took our old VW T3 'Wedge' Multivan which was a brilliant way to do it... full steel sliding sunroof and a sliding door... the only problem was drunk foreigners mistaking us for the "Shuttle Booos!" That was petrol powered though and the Euro was at a much better rate then! it'd be a bit costly now!
  7. 4 of us went this year, hired a Touran for the week, all in was about £400 each including food, beer and entry to the show/car pass, all the Diesel (we did 2700 miles) a house for the week and a hotel on the way out.... not too bad really! (you could take £120 off each if you weren't hiring the car!) but we averaged 55mpg. There were two G60 Ltd's there.... I them! :p
  8. It's an AWESOME event.... the sheer variety of cars and the way Volkswagen AG get behind it (especially since both Skoda and Seat had a presence there) is just superb. The atmosphere is completely unlike anything I've experienced in the UK.... in the Audi 'Arena' they had a new A8, RS5 and R8 Spyder (amongst others) mostly unlocked, and with a nudge towards one of the staff they'd grab the keys to the R8 and start it and rev it.. hard...
  9. Yep, definitely bagged.... saw it roll into the Shell Garage in Velden (there's like a mini-meet there all the way through the show week) and the sills were on the tarmac, then he lifted it up to drive out.... That's not the full set (yet) we're still processing!!! i think we may be up to the first day of the actual show..... Definitely going next year... been going since 2004...... There's just NOTHING that compares to it over here... it's worth the 2000 mile round trip
  10. Airbags of win.... There are bigger versions on the link I posted at the top...... I just posted up the smaller ones.....
  11. That's all the Skoda's we've got hosted for now... not sure how many more we got though...
