  1. I put the advanced rads one on mine, half the weight of oem which says a lot and it didn't fit the cowling properly iirc, having said that it's been fine for 2 years
  2. My first one I picked up new on 01/09/03 on a 53, my 2nd is 01/03/04 on an 04 (obviously) But there are plenty older, a few on 03s around by me even though I bought my first one 'as soon as they came out' so to speak
  3. Mine does it - ASZ engine - but only when pointing downhill with my foot on the brake, real lumpy as if it's about to stall, it clears if I take my foot off the brake or blip the throttle or roll to flat ground - go figure
  4. That's the dirty side of the filter, nowt to worry about
  5. true for your engine but is not always the case, there are a number of engines that count the cylinders 1-4 from the gearbox end, just so you don't assume in future hth
  6. It does work, I couldn't get my boot open last week, unfortunately I was holding a trolley full of asda shopping with 2 kids sitting in it too, and then I had the child seats to move bofore I could get into the boot......................
  7. On my fathers sdi there was a lever pull next to the seat but no boot release button as per my vrs, very frustrating, but some models don't have them at all. As for opening the boot, flip the seats down, crawl into the boot and next to the boot catch is a little orange tab/lever, push that UP and the boot will open and you can have a play about to see why it's not working. This is the same tab that the electric actuator pushes on when you open the boot using the electric button in the number plate recess (if fitted) HTH
  8. mine did this last year, I thought I posted about it, may not have though. You need to cut the plastic back a bit to stop it re-occurring, hopefully you can make it out from this pic To answer the original question, don't worry about it, I drove mine for months like that, I also did a lot of driving on a holed boost pipe too, nothing will get sucked into it since it's never under vacuum at that point The pic is of the bottom of my cooler and you can see the plastic has been trimmed back as before it was long enough to be touching the core of the cooler
  9. 2 more off the phone and some on my camera card but these pretty much cover all angles, it's an old halfords one, retro like, from when their logo was white font on a grey background with the slanty 'no entry sign' for the O, :D It's mint though, lockable and didn't get a drop on water in it on my last trip! , and perhaps the best bit, I got it off ebay, complete with a lockable set of roof bars (for cars with std roof rails) and all keys for box and bars, for................................. £11.50 -------------- back of the net
  10. Ok no problem, I can recommend the skoda set they are top notch. If you want to borrow a roof box I have one too, depends on the timing of course cos I use my bars a lot for MTBing but even if you got your own bars and wanted a box there's one here, save you getting one. SGM towing want £60 / week + vat to rent one!! Pic is me in france a week ago:
  11. you can borrow my skoda ones if it's just for a job you need doin, depends how far away you are I guess, I'm in Ponty They were £98 from W Dove and are v good IMO
  12. I had my rusty tailgate replaced for new under the 10 year warranty, not one of the body inspections was filled out in my book but it did have fsh and was 4 years old on 96K, they did a schitty job though, had to go back loads of times so choose your dealer wisely. Mine was bubbling in the number plate recess and on the seams in the shut where the top of the rear light cluster would meet it, if that makes sense One more thing, SUK SUCK, unless you've got a good dealer so you can completely avoid talking to these fools yourself, just leave it rusty as it's not worth the stress that you will have trying to get it done yourself. They've had your money, why should they care???
  13. I had a Kia Rio 1.5 Tdi courtesy car, and when I got the Fabia back it didn't feel much quicker! Those little Korean things can shift!!! Also had a 1.4 16v petrol one once, slowish but it revved to 7!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I replaced mine with Fuchs titan supersyn and it's sheeeeite, baulking badly in 2nd when cold, can't wait to get around to replacing it, this time with Syntrax As for the special tool, there's one in your boot, called a locking wheel nut key, if you drill the centre to take the pin in the box plug..............
  15. Combination of labouring the engine and DMF shudder, happens on some more than others, mine seems to do it and got a bit worse after cupra bushes, or rather, it felt worse in the cabin after the bushes, my other one didn't do it and the old mans one doesn't Select a lower gear before accelerating, simples!
  16. Just looked and they have added a revision from 1st Nov 2008, I had my last set from them in about June 08 so you may be stuffed although show plates without any BS numbers on are still widely available from graphics shops and especially at shows, saw them for sale in Newark a few weeks ago.
  17. I want the sport interior for my vrs but my dealer reckons you have to buy the whole seat, anyone know different????? I rang last week regarding this and was quoted £500+ for the whole sport interior
  18. PS this will make you feel better about your fVRS smoking: I've been out in a 500bhp 700 odd lb/ft van-aaken cummins in 2002, CHRIST!!!!!!! they could only keep tyres on it for about a week, then they used to take them back claiming the chunks had "fallen off" and they'd get new ones under guarantee every time! lol lol lol I've never seen a pick up so sideways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Diesels will always smoke a bit when making max power because the A/F ratio to make max hp in a derv is rich relatively speaking, you can't get max power without smoke in a derv, and before anyone comments the race car dervs such as the audi le-mans car could make more power if they were allowed to blind the opposition but that's not sportsmanlike! Don't fret about the smoke, IMHO it makes creaming "fast" cars all the more satisfactory, they KNOW they've been stuffed by a Skoda Diesel, it's so funny, especially when at the end of the conflict they have to wash their windscreen cos of all the soot on it! lol lol lol :rofl::rofl:
  20. I second that ^^^^^^^^ Had a silver astra G, if you didn't wash it for 8-12 months (seriously) it would always look the same (clean-ish) If you washed it then it would look better for about 10 mins That's my personal theory on why there are so many rusty silver cars, they don't look dirty, so why wash off all that corrosive salt that's hiding on it?.....................
  21. In my experience: You won't get pulled for euro pressed plates, which are "illegal" by the way You won't be pulled for mis-spaced plates using the standard font as long as they are clearly ledgible You won't get puled or fail MOT for not having BS markings or a non standard font as they can't fail you any more as long as it's ledgible You WILL get pulled and your plate cited as the reason IF: Your being a K N O B Your car is pink (6 points in car snooker) Oh and PS for some reason Demon sell you "show plates" all mis-spaced and the like but still print their postode name and the BS No on them?!?!?!?!!???!? Go Figure.......... PPS my mis-spaced plate plate has in the past been piced up by ANPR and I've recieved a speeding ticket from a mobile van so if they can still get you, what's the complaint?............
  22. All the recent Skoda model accessories are available to view here when the site isn't playing up: ?koda Accessories atb
  23. I voted other, meaning silver or white really, white does show chips easily but then so does anthracite, my last wheels where anthracite and they looked good for about 10 mins after cleaning the car then the slightest bit of dust made them look stinking, brought the whole car down imho, it never ever looked that clean, especially from a distance.
  24. Just saying my experience as I've actually owned both I don't think the OP will be bothered if it's remapped or not as standard the fabia feels just as good (granted slower std) but better in 4th 5th and 6th especially when laden, everyone who rode in or drove my S3 was unimpressed. To the OP: let me know what you think if you eventually get one
  25. A standard Fabia feels quicker than an s3 anyway so it's more fun IMO and loaded with people/luggage I reckon it would see it off. Don't mean to do the 'fabis are faster than eurofighters' bit, but I sold my fabia, bought an s3 and was completely underwhelmed, really didn't feel it's power, I liked it for about 6 hours then put it for sale and bought my fabia back, which consequently felt like an upgrade in performance, and yeah the s3 was running right and could hold it's own with similar cars so that wasn't the problem. Get the best you can afford but don't worry about it being mapped already, you won't be dissapointed with how it is std. When your bored, get it mapped, simples!
